  1. I'd monitor your temps to see if it made any difference. It shouldn't get too dusty, if so just grab a can of spray every now and then to clean it out
  2. Somebody sold my boss a high level Dell computer (didn't ask him how much) - 1 or 2 GB RAM, 150 GB SATA, DVD RW, with a 6800 video card. The only problem was the video card wouldn't work because the fan wasn't working. He assumed the fan itself was bad and desoldered it from the connector. However, I hooked up the fan wires to a running power supply to test it and wa-la it worked! So the problem was that the leads on the card to power the fan were broken, not the fan itself. To solve it I decided to run a separate power connection from a molex (4-pin) to the video card. Here are the pics:
  3. K750i is not available in the US (has been in Europe for around a year) but it's on eBay
  4. I have a folder with 500+ songs in it and XP has changed the folder to where when I right click to arrange icons it can sort by "name, size, type, artist, album" and so on. However, I need it to be in normal fashion where I can sort by modified because I can't find any of the newer files I loaded on there. Anybody know how to make the folder read like a normal folder, and not specifcally a music folder. Also, this is not my My Music folder, it's just a regular folder on my hard drive.
  5. It's always a good idea to reload Windows (XP anyways) if you ever have problems since a good fresh start fixes everything (such as Window's natural picking up of random crap)!
  6. The BIOS not acknowledging the keyboard would not me sign of Windows being corrupt since the BIOS detects ports way before the hard drive ever loads Windows - which is at least good news I second trying a new keyboard or even the USB keyboard
  7. DDR400 = pc3200 Unless you plan on overclocking anything over 3200 is unecessary. I think he meant 2700
  8. I know I had to change the wireless channel and the wireless mode from Mixed to something else.
  9. Some random setting - I wish I could remember - DOH!
  10. Just spoke to the most helpful tech support ever! yeah, (yet i feel ashamed for not fixing it myself!)
  11. I'd check in device manager to see if there is a "power setting" option on your NIC or wireless adaptor
  12. Ctrl+PrintScreen or Ctrl+Alt+PrintScreen for just the top window
  13. Get a real motherboard, not a Biostar. Also, don't waste your time overclocking, cause if you can afford to buy a new CPU one you've burned it up by gambling with a low-rate board and stock heatsink, you could have purchased a much better processor in the first place
  14. Help!!! SOS! Okay, went ahead and reloaded Windows and reset my router config - don't ask why ... Now I can only get internet when directly plugged into my modem - not when connected to the router (wirelessly or wired) On the wireless, I can connect to the router, but there is not internet access. I'm missing something obvious, with the IP's or something, please help me get this fixed!
  15. I kinda doubt he has FSB switches on his MOBO (at least I hope not!)
  16. I'm thinking. 2 hours with a laptop on my lap will cook ...
  17. No problem - I'm glad it was the simple obvious thing. Of course, it would be really weird for a bad driver/jumper config to mess with audio like that!
  18. Check your BIOS clock settings to make sure that you're not underclocking
  19. Sounds like its caused by a sound effect option (i.e. "underwater mode" or echo mode - you know?)
  20. IMO (which doesn't mean TOO much) IE is fine, like Terrorist said. The only benefit I ever saw to using Firefox was the tabbed browsing, but imcompatibility with McAfee's update site made me switch back to IE, and oh yeah - the 1st time I installed FF, it crashed my computer. However, I'm a big fan of Mozilla Thunderbird (their Outlook equivalent) so you can't say I just don't want to change things! I had Opera for some time, I'm just a stickler to using programs that work fine - and then not worrying about changing them. Just don't download IE 7 Beta! The first public version led to some
  21. You can also use PC3200 (ddr400) since it's backwards compatible with lower speed memory (like how PC133 works in PC100 boards)
