No beep I would go with , in this order Bad power supply (ie not even the fan on the back spins up)=> Almost Eliminated as you say fans spin. Could still be dead on the voltage needed for CPU. Bad CPU (Fans all spin, but no POST beep or video) Bad Motherboard (same symptoms) Unfortunately the simplest technique for testing is to put in a known good equivilant (IE you place your processor in a known good compatible motherboard and see if it POSTs, or you put a known good compatible processor in yours and see if that solves it). So next would be "upgrade time, new cpu , motherboard, and RAM"

85 and sunny today. Rain predicted for the weekend. They had fresh sweet corn on the cob six ears for a dollar so I bought a dozen and am going to grill em in the husk so they get that nice roasted smokey flavor. They also have surimi (imitation crabmeat) on for 99cents a pound so I think I will make a roasted corn, artichoke heart, and crab salad with sourcream and dill ;and maybe some shaved fennel. Served on toasted french bread.

First thing to do is on startup when you hear the beep , start tapping F8 once per second until you get an expanded options menu. From that the bottom entry (or near there) should be "Disable restart on system failure" Click this. Now choose to boot to windows normally and you should get a blue screen of death with a stop error you can post here for advice on what to fix. The second thing to do is again boot to that menu with F8 and choose "last known good" from the list . See if that lets you get booted to windows. If not , choose safe mode, then in safe mode go to start/ programs/ accessori

Try these steps http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926431 Amongst the steps, try the no add ons feature click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). To ensure it is not a toolbar, or malware causing this problem. Since IE6 works you know that it is not your computer or modem, but something which affects IE7 differently than IE6

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-64677.html Actually , I suspect that you have backed up to your computer not to a network storage device and that you did not disable system restore from monitoring the backups and it is backing up the backups when you make new ones. Try running disk cleanup (cleanmgr) and under the other options , choose to delete all but most recent system restore point. Then you can go to control panel / system / system restore and lower the percentage of the drive allocated to system restore You do not delete the backups by locating them and deleting them. yo

Don't overlook that with gmail you can configure it to check other accounts and download a copy of the mail there so that you have a backup / long term copy . Do that with your domain mail and configure it (the domain server) to delete things after seven days if you want .

Hp Notebook Smells Like Burning Plastic!
Pete_C replied to querty321's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
My bet, based on the "loose hinge" is that the case is cracked and things have shifted and something hot (heatsink? Chipset) is touching something it should not or a wire got shorted. -
Happy Easter Y'all. Personally I wait till after the holiday to buy the candy, you know when they mark it all down to 50-75% off. Then I will restock the pantry supply and it will hold for the foreseeable future. I actually still have some chocolate rabbits from last year (Maybe I'll convert them to fudge ). I had leftover Lasagne for breakfast, since yesterday we made a big (got a new Bakers Secret 11x14 Lasagne pan I had to try out). Spinach with muchrooms and ricotta and of course the meat sauce we put up after last batch of spaghetti and lots of mozarella. Even with the neighbors help we

If you put the third disk in and explore it can you see everything? I have seen this happen with some programs when a windows update caused a problem with UDF or ISO 9660 format and the addresses of some files on multi disk installs do not read correctly. Could be a path issue or name issue. What I have found to work is if you create a new folder on your computer and copy the contents of all the disks (except the autorun.inf on the first disk) involved to that folder and then run the setup.exe from that folder and not from the CD. You may have to hold the shift key when inserting the disks

Having tried once and had it fail I would suggest you wait a bit until probable reasons are published. It is likely that it is something like with XP SP2, where having a bit of malware, or leaving your antivirus/ firewall etc on during the update / reboot or having a registry protector or some customization like windowblinds etc causes a major unforseen problem and you wind up running system restore to get the system files and registry back to where they were before the update. Often if it is caused by a third party application like antivirus or firewall they will update that in the next month

Glad to see you are doing your part to stimulate the economy. It sure needs it. Aren't you scared that the chatroom will crash???

I remember the first time I saw a bullhead (My Grandmothers lake cabin in western Mass); I thought it was some sort of giant mutant tadpole and wondered how big the frog it would inevitably turn into would be. I had visions of some giant three foot frog weighing in at several hundred pounds and wondered if there were any in the lake and what they ate. I noticed that on surfaces where the last batch of rain settled and dried (like dumpster lids) there is an odd reddish brown dust which looks and feels more like soil than pollen. Odd but not unheard of. Glad it got washed out of the air. Prob

Does it allow safe mode with networking? If not you know that the driver / software causing the problem is related to networking . You could also try one of those USB quick connect devices and then while in safe mode, run its software and see if you can load and configure it manually.

Sounds like the issue where you save to many files to a USB drive root. It has to do with the FAT addressing used, and just like with a floppy you can actually fill the table of contents long before you fill the drive and the result is a drive which acts corrupted and shows invalid results as to how much space is there and what files. One solution is to copy from the drive to a folder on your hard drive, re organize things and then format the drive and move stuff back.

The moisture track was coming up from Mexico and the front was coming in from West Texas. It is common here when those areas are dry to have dust from them (or smoke from fires in Mexico and Central America) blown as far as Dallas.. Here the pollen was so bad that when I first went out on Monday morning my normally red truck was yellow. But the rain cleared up that issue fast. I think that the official radar total for our area was about 6.24 inches. But things have drained off. Yesterday there were still standing puddles where storm drain inlets in streets were clogged (had fun calling the ci

Yes there are probably thousands of death worldwide due to DiHydrogen Oxide poisoning. We need legislation to protect people from this caustic, hazardous chemical which has been known to be deadly in doses as small as one tablespoon. Notify your legislator immediately that they should make DiHydrogen Oxide a restricted controlled chemical.

Yesterday we had about six inches of rain. Four inches fell between 10AM and 4PM, with another inch between 4 and 7 and the rest in a later wave after 10PM. Some of the creeks rose higher than I have seen in years, the dogs had fun splashing around in the back yard (no need for baths now, they got well soaked when they insisted on going out ). They even had a bus drive into water where a creek flows across a major highway and begin floating downstream. High water rescue had to be called to get the driver and fourteen passengers off and the bus floated off the highway and was tilted and up to

Well, Vitamin E can cause it too. Probably just about anything can taken to excess. Moderation is the key.

A bloody mary with no hot sauce? Next we know you will be asking to hold the garlic and Worcestershire sauce and add a celery stalk with the leaves attached. I remember those days in college, bloody mary in a mug and cheese pizza for breakfast in the bar / pizzaria downstairs on weekends. The local packy just started carrying some Brazilian Vodka (hey they have to do something with the stuff they can't put in cars and it helps subsidize their ethanol economy) for $8.49 a half gallon. It comes in a bottle with a mouth wider than one of those Mickeys Green Ale pints and no pouring restrictor.

Normally with USB devices the best and most standard method is to install the software , and when it tells you to do so to connect the device and power it up and let it be detected. If you connected the device before you installed its software and driver pack it may be misidentified. IF this happened the best thing to do is to go to control panel /system / hardware / device manager If you can figure out what the device is incorrectly identified as select and uninstall (may be unknown device, generic camera , human interface device ...) Then disconnect it and uninstall the software. Restart t

Parents Pc Turns Off Right After Start Up

Then it sounds like dust buildup was causing the fan to slow down and the motherboard safety was kicking in and cutting power to prevent the CPU from frying because it could not be cooled adequately. Cleaning solved it but keep an eye on things just in case. You may find the fan was damaged and needs replacement so if you notice noises from it you will want to get a fanspeed and temperature monitoring program to help determine if you need to replace it right away. What problems are you having with OE? Did it freeze up while running ? If so some of the files in use could have been damaged or lo -
Well, it pretty much all missed us. The main storm, the snow stayed about fifteen to twenty miles northwest of here. Even the second wave which passed in the middle of the night just dusted us with a half inch. Then the sun came up and everything was melted in a couple hours. Even where they had six inches it was gone by noon. We are expecting thunderstorms this evening and rain tomorrow. The Arizona Ash, Plums, and several other early flowering trees are in full bloom. The grass is greening up (Rye and fescue is fully green, the St Augustine is beginning to kick in) and the Mulberry tree

Skunk was probably hot rubber. My first question is does this computer have a UPS with Automatic Voltage Regulation? If not, I would suspect power fluctuations when branches hit lines in a winter storm. Did you have one recently? The other thought would be a pinched or shorted wire inside the case or shorted motherboard or just to many things drawing power. Do you have lots of lights, fans etc?
-
They are predicting snow here in Dallas, but it has yet to materialize and probably won't stick or last. They have several inches about forty miles northwest of here though and at DFW airport over 200 canceled flights and some flights have been sitting on the runway for 2.5 hours waiting for their turn in the de icing queue before taking off.

Well it could be a phishing exploit, or maybe they pulled a G4. I remember all the fun folks had when they made it so if you tried to change anything it refused to change and then the other time where if you changed anything it locked you out of your account.
