Yah :-) Its running as of the minute. Maybe retouching my solder helped. This is monumental for me. I have been afraid to take a laptop apart, yet I run a pc repair business.

I agree, I do not like pc noise. any extra fans running would not be worth it. -
Mount Network Samba Drives With Vista
shanenin replied to iccaros's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
I was runnimg vista beta on my laptop(not anymore), it had no problem finding my samba server. I think I just went to network places, then it prompted me for a password, then it configured my network. what happens if you enter either the ip or machine name and share name of your samba server in the run command \\192.168.1.104\share or \\machine_name\share -
Today I did my first dc-jack replacement on a Gateway laptop without any help . I plugged in the ac adapter without a battery and it fired right up. A big smile on my face, I was feeling confident. I called my client to tell her it was finished. I talked her into upgrading the ram. I powered it down, unplugged the cord, then added ram. I put the power cord back in, but it would not boot anymore. I removed the ram, but still nothing. I am not sure what went wrong. Their is a chance unplugging and plugging it back in caused it to break my solder joint. I disassembled it again, touched up my sol

Router For Satellite Broadband

I would think the modem that is used with the satellite service will issue an ip using dhcp. Any router will work with that. -
I am no expert in this area and tend to "shoot from the hip". the following entry appears bad. Delete with caution :-) O2 - BHO: VPNS System - {9FA1AA9E-7ECF-4f3b-AC23-7F09E01298E4} - C:\WINDOWS\dxdiag.dll http://www.castlecops.com/tk32323-iesettin...dxdiag_dll.html

I have had good luck using panda active scan . It will not remove the spyware, but it will tell you what files are bad. I then use killbox or just delete them in safemode. You could also try the free version of spyweeper.

interesting. Thanks for the heads up.

I had something odd happen today while running smitfraudfix on a client computer. I ran it in "safe mode", but it seemed to freeze or act odd immediately after choosing clean mode. It started to clean a temp file then ended. It did not seem to complete properly. I rebooted the system then got a blue screen. I ended up having to reload. I am not sure if the fix caused the problem or if something else did.

I needed a print statement.

I have spent the last year pretty much reloading Windows and diagnosing blue screens. I have pretty much forgotten how to do anything in python. I have the following code to get the data in the windows clipboard import win32con, win32clipboard win32clipboard.OpenClipboard() win32clipboard.GetClipboardData(win32con.CF_TEXT) raw_input() when I run these commands one at a time in an interpreter they return the clipboard data. When I run the commands as a script they do not return anything. Am I missing something simple?

Your a little to cautious for my taste :-) I would rather just hit my computer with what I can throw at it and see if it survives.

I don't think you will notice any difference using dvi, I would not spend the money.

A 1977 cougar wagon. I payed $200 for it. It got me around for about a year and a half with next to no repair work. by the way, you got yourself a beautiful car :-) A Cougar wagon? Mercury? I don't think I've ever seen one of those. Interesting Mark yup, this is the only picture I could find

time.windows.com is broken. Really broken. It's over 100 seconds off. The Windows NTP client should refuse to synchronize with it. time.nist.gov just takes forever to respond. It's probably overloaded. Everyone should be using the pool. The pool is your friend. You would think it would be an easy fix.

I want to stock up also. I wonder how much longer newegg(or other retailers) will be selling them for.
-
that may be, but after several weeks, you think they could increase the size of the server to be sufficient.
-
Thanks, adding a different server works, but I am still curious to why the others fail, in particular, time.windows.com.
-
Do you know how long you have not been able to sync?
-
Three of my machines, plus all of my client machines fully patched.

I have not been successfully able to sync my time on any of my windows machines a couple of weeks. This includes many client machines also. I get this error "An error occurred while synchronizing with time.windows.com" . This also happens if I choose "time.nist.gov". It is more of an annoyance, but I am baffeled to why it is happening. I do have a router, but I get the same problem when I connect my laptop directly into the cable modem. I will see what google turns up. since bypassing the router does not help, and all machines behave this way, I am leaning towards charter, my isp, being the pr
