I would definitely go with a dual core. If you do not want to spend alot, I would consider this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819103052

I guess "Cease and Desist" was an exaggeration. It read: we your cable provider have been notified by "NB*" that you have downloaded(or shared) the following show, "the A*********". Please be warned this is illegal and we may stop your service. You are probable correct, it is more just to cover their butt. None the less, I will probably just get the DVR and be on the legal and safe side.

My main reason not for upgrading is my cheapness. I could dual boot and keep XP around for the business apps I use. If business picks up this summer, I will probably go for it.

I got my first "Cease and Desist" letter. I was flagged for downloading an on air tv show. Now I am hesitant to push my luck and see what will happen if I get a second letter. I wonder if my cable provider will really cut me off. I like downloading tv and watching it on my own schedule, but this may have to end. I will probably spend the $15/month to get the cable offered dvr box. edit added later// its funny how much my life has changed. Now I am worried about getting in trouble with my cable provider. At one time I was only worried about crimes that would give me 3 to 5 year mandatory senten

I would look for a tv that has dvi or vga inputs(I think the one you mentioned does). That will make it easy as plugging in the monitor. Both of those connections will give you high-def.

I voted in the near future. I feel I need to get used to it, since I will be servicing people who have vista machines. Other then that reason, I personally have no desire to run it. If fact I would bet some of my software I own will not yet run on vista, that is a negative.

That would make a nice system. My main linux box is running an athlon xp 2600, 512mb ram, and a fx5200 video card.

I would probably try the upgrade in one step. If it was me, I would just clean install

I got that. I liked that part in particular.

Zeppelin is more blues like, not at all metal.

I started the kitchen about 3 years ago(maybe 4). Today I just bought some supplies, I may get my one household job/year done.

The celeron M is not much slower then a pentium M, in most benchmarks they are almost equal. The pentium M does support speed step, which will allow it to thottle back to save on power. Other then the power saving abilities, the pentium M does not offer much performance over the celeron M. I am not really sure how speed step works, but it may depend on a motherboard that supports that feature.

It makes me sick the way the law is abused.

Since the computer business in minnesota is horrible the month of may(it will pick up in june), I set some goals to get something done around the house. I am going to finish some sheetrocking(fix an area), and trim out my windows and doors in the kitchen. If I put this down in words it might get done.

I can overclock my 2.0 celeron to 3.5 ghz and linux runs it great. Windows sucks. I felt like being obnoxious ;-)

A spreadsheet may be more efficient, but writing a program from scratch in python may me more hobby like and more rewarding.

What do you guys think of using the name "igoogle" for the personalized google homepage. It seems odd they would use such an apple like term.

My advice to all new linux users: just enjoy it

Is this running on linux or windows?

If you like linux, I would recommend python. It is a program language that is for beginners, but very powerful. It is the perfect language for doing what you need. Python runs also on mac and windows, among others.

Can Not Get Xp Home To Boot Up
shanenin replied to tman70's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
This purely seems like a hardware problem, I don't see how XP would factor in. I think it was just more of a coincidence. The motherboard just seems flakey. edit added later// could your cmos battery be going bad? -
The next time I do a reload I will experiment with them. thanks for the suggestions.

For example belarc adviser will show devices only if the drivers are already installed. Do you know if any of those listed above will show devices(chipsets) without any drivers installed?
