  1. I think you guys must be correct, but those reviews and pictures are so contradictory.
  2. I am not sure, but my gut says it is a pci card. The reviews people left and the picture that it shows are of a regular "pci" card. Where did you find the pictures your posted which labeled it a pci-express card?
  3. I would not turn it on again till taking a visual look and smell the motherboard. More then likely you will be able to tell where the burn is coming from.
  4. Gmail offers both pop3 and imap service, so you should be able to use the roundcube client
  5. take it apart. Hopefully you will be able to see what burned. It may be an obvious fix.
  6. newegg is selling vista premium 32 bit for $80. To save $20 off their regular low price you need to enter the following promo code EMCADCACB . They limit it to one, I already got a copy for myself.
  7. He just finished expanding the array to use all the drives. He is getting about 600MB/s sustained read speeds.
  8. That card should be a good choice. It is more optimized for HD video. With that said, it may also be much more powerful for gaming(I am just guessing). As to your psu having enough juice, it should be fine, but I a not sure.
  9. make sure you use the option "complete format recovery"(you probably did), not just the fast search.
  10. if you are using Outlook, all of your mail and contacts are stored in a .pst file. All you need to do is copy this file. Once you get this file you can transfer and import it into you new Vista computer, which will need to have Outlook installed.
  11. Those tv tuners can be a big pain to find the drivers. You may want to check out the site below. They list the same chipset that you need http://support.packardbell.com/se/item/ind..._danube_idesign they are listed for a different card, but they may use the same chipset and drivers
  12. I use RecoverMyFiles on a regular basis. It works great. Just a couple of days ago I forgot to back up 200 pictures on a client machine I was working on. After a full format and reload, I was able to recover all of the files(man I got lucky). Recovermyfiles allows you to try the program, if it is able to get the data, you can then pay the money which allows you to save the data. I have never tried it, but a fellow tech friend has used it on sd cards. You have nothing to lose by trying the program. You only have to pay if it gets the data back.
  13. Why not just manually transfer the stuff you need? what email program do you use?
  14. I don't ever see google altering search results to help advertisers. If they did that it would ruin them.
  15. I have been slowly using google docs when possible. It has been working out really well. I used to use a generic intake form when clients would drop off their computers. I would take info like: name, address, phone number, email address, passwords, problem/service needed, important data(for backing up). I would just fill in the blanks of the form using a pen. This was like my work order. It would stay with the computer, to keep things organized. If needed I could take notes on this sheet while servicing it. This has served me well for two years. In the beginning I manually typed this info into
  16. I posted the article because it hit home. I just use it because I enjoy playing with it(I like it as an operating system). I like building, breaking and fixing it. Linux is not for everyone, if you just need to use certain apps, it may not be the best fit for you(that is ok).
  17. that is a "PCI Express" card. That is not the same as a PCI card. That card won't work in your system.
  18. Did you take the side off the computer and watch the fan spin? You may be able to see if the fan is spinning slow or uneven.

  20. "PC Power & Cooling" is a great brand. They have a great reputation for quality.
  21. as already said, it just may be some weird incompatibility with your mother board.
  22. Just for kicks, I would try and memtest it. It won't help solve your problem, but I would be curious to know if it fails. Even if it passes, that does not mean their is not a problem with the ram.
  23. To make things easy, in the bios, disable raid support, this should default them to ide mode. Just to make sure, look for any option to use ide support for sata drives. It is much easier to use ide emulation. Unless you plan on running the drives together with raid, or need to use native command quening, you don't seed to use raid mode. For the drives to show up in "My Computer", they need to be formatted and initialized. This can be done through "Computer Management". You can get to this by typing "compmgmt.msc" in the run box. Once "computer management" opens choose, "storage", then "disk m
