You can rule out all other things , if all of the other parts are good, you can probably assume it is the motherboard. If you are using an agp card, try a pci one if possible. If their is onboard video try it with out the card. Also try just one stick of memery in different slots. I would also try and boot it without any drive connected.

I think you would have two options. First, leave grub that fedora installed to the mbr. Then when installing solaris, choose to install its grub to your solaris patition. Then you should be able to chainload it. A second option would be to have solaris install grub to the mbr and then add the location of your fedora core install to the newly made grub.conf(or menu.1st).

I just ran your game on my linux box using wine. I could not figure out how to play the computer. It seemed to be two player only. If you enter a letter instead of a number it errors out. If you wanted I am sure that would be easy to fix. edit added later I missed that the first time. So that is why I was not able to play the computer :-)

As soon as I boot my windows machine I will check out your program. If you could post the source I would like to try and compile it. I did this verison using python. It was one of the first programs I ever wrote #!/usr/bin/env python # this is the game tic-tac-toe # it was fully programmed by shane lindberg # instructions.py # # this function gives instuctions to # the user for playing the game def instructions(): print """\n\tWelcome to the game of tic-tac-toe\n \t --a game of man against machine--\n you first need to choose to go first or second. If you choose to go first you will be X

I will make it a habit of making sure everything is good and warm before removing them in the future.

I managed to get the processor of the heatsink. I am just amzed it ripped it out of the socket while the socket was in the locked position. I am even more amazed none of the prongs got bent.
-
I am changing the motherboard on a dell dimension 2400. I pulled the heatsink off, with it came the processor. It seems like it is glued onto the heatsink. None of the pins seem to be bent. Have any of you guys seem this before? Do you think it is safe to pry it off with a razor blade?

I know when I ran bsd, which also used slices, I booted it two different ways. One was was to chainload it. This did not have to point to the slice, only the partition. you may want to try this. title Solaris rootnoverify (hd0,0) makeactive chainloader +1 I also booted bsd directly with grub, by specifying thje location of the bsd kernel(I think that is what I pointed it at). Solaris you may do something like this. In my example, "d" is the slice where multiboot and boot_archive are found. title Solaris root (hd0,0,d) kernel /platform/i86pc/multiboot module /platform/i86pc/boot_archiv

I spend about $180 a month in advertising, and i get only about 2 to 3 jobs a week. Maybe i should check out the local grocery store bulletin board. Just curious what content do you have in your ad?

If you do not mind spending some money, I think think pads have a good reputation. Any thing wiht a centrino chipset seems well supported. I just purchased a 500 toshiba satallite, it works well. The only thing that does not seem to work is the battery leval indicated. I think any big brand should have good support.

shanenin replied to shanenin's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
This is what the specs say for this computer Type of Card and Bus ATX – AGP 1X, 2X, and 4X does that mean any type of card will work? edit added later// after rereading your post, and checking the links, this card seems to be 1.5 volt. So it should not harm any motherboard. Thanks for the links :-) -

Are Most Agp Cards Compatible?
shanenin replied to shanenin's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
The only issue I say with the first one was visual. it only has conecters two of the three notches. I never saw one like that before. I found this card I think I am going to get it http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...mMakeTrack=true -
I am looking to get an inexpensive card for a computer I am fixing up. My Maxtor 120gig Hard Drive Just Died
shanenin replied to Mainter's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
I have never taken a harddrive apart(yet). You may have luck swapping out some of the peices that are not sealed in(assumbing there are some). My next harddrive that dies is coming apart :-) -
I agree. I reinstall windows a couple times a week, finding drivers can be a pain in the a**. If it works let me know.
-
you answered his question :-) is that location of any practical use? Instaiiing drivers must be more complicated then just saving them from that directory and copying them back after reinstall. I am just guessing the inner workings of Windows still is a mystery to me.
-
I do not think that is possible. I am not usre about that. Your best bet is to crack open the case and see who made the motherboard. If it was homemade, you should not have a problem finding the drivers on the motherboard manufactures websight.
-
I have some 80 wire ide cables I purchsed a while back. They are labled ata-66. My understanding is these can also be used with a harddrive that is ata-100, without loss of performance. Can anyone verify this?

Problems Installing A Game*update*
shanenin replied to GrundleLove's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
for a while was only able to install software or rip movies in safemode only. Now it seems to be working normal agian. I was going to reccomend turning off dma for the controller that runs the drive, but.... I think running in safemode does not use dma by default. So inessence you have already tried to install with dma off. -
I googled ac97 codec. That brought me to the souce, http://www.realtek.com.tw. all of the drivers are now installed. I noticed one other time while working on an hp that they had crap for drivers available. Both dell and gateway make all of the drivers for thier computers easily available. Thanks guys for the suggestions :-)

I am not able to find any chipset or audio drvers for an hp pavilion 533w. Hp seems to do a horrible job making drivers avaible to users. Any help would be appreciated. edit addede later// I found chipset drivers that seem to work on the intel sight. Now I just need to track down audio drivers.

Problems Installing A Game*update*
shanenin replied to GrundleLove's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
It you are able, I would try a different optical drive. I have had faulty drives not be able to copy specific files(locations) on a disk.
