I agree...I kinda knew some people would give the responses that they did. spam doesn't affect me, I know how to use email and not put an address I don't want spammed on the www...Of course, like everything else, it took a small learning process to learn that lesson though. In comparison to alot of other crimes out there, I have to say I was surprised by a 9 year sentence...I do not think the punishment fits the crime considering murderers and rapists would get out sooner than he would if he had to serve his full sentence. I would think a 2-3 year sentence (actually served), fines that would d

Welcome to these boards John. I hope you will enjoy our home away from home, or is that home within a home? Whatever it's called, it's a good place to come and relax. So here's a cup of our cafe's good coffee, and I think the doughnuts are fresh too, so jump right in where ever you want. There is an arcade, and a great cafe', oh yes some help sections around here too. A little something for everyone. God bless everyone.

I relearned how to type when we got this computer about 3 years ago. Hadn't typed in over 30 years, so definitely needed a good program. The best one as far as various reviews etc is the one I have, Typing Instructor Deluxe 11th edition. It shows up on CompUSA's "free after rebates" sales every so often, and I have seen it at other stores too. A full program, with lessons based on your level, practice stuff, plus some neat, but corny, typing games that really help you build speed and accuracy. God bless everyone.

Liz did you get that Coolweb...thing totally cleaned out? If in any doubt, run a Hijackthis log over in the HJT section to have the experts check your log out to make sure it is clean. I have read about some really bad infestations over on G4 with that thing, and its often hard to remove, hidden variants. So be sure you are cleaned up from it. Good luck. P.S. On Spybot Search and Destroy, open it and click on the red pizza pie slice icon (I have no idea why they use such a strange icon for it), then on the flourescent green cross to immunize it. That will block the bad stuff. You will need to

Just had a gal recently drive off a bridge here in Portland, talking to her sister on a Hands Free cell phone, and not paying attention to the no lane change warning signs on steel gratings of bridge, plus it was drizzly wet. She took out a concrete railing and dropped 60 feet into the Willamette River. It is a murky, dark, cold river, with a fast current. Luckily her airbag went off, her windshield and side window busted open, and she stayed calm, and conscious. The fire department and river patrol were called immediately. The paramedic fire department diver expected to be on body retrieval a

I think he should spend the 9 prison years with as many old slow computers as his cell will hold, all on small isp dialup service with their small server email service. Then all his all his email account addys should be given out to every spammer in the world, so he can spend his entire prison time deleting spam. If he should get upset or bored, to bad, no time off from it. Spam never takes a break, so he shouldn't be allowed to either. Now deleting spam all his waking hours, would be time well served for his crime. That would be justice well served in my opinion. God bless everyone.

I haven't checked with hubby about this week's gas prices. It hasn't been as bad as other states. The news said the other day we had dropped down to number 4, usually we are in top 3. As for driving, I don't know which is worse being in a little car, like our 1990 Subaru Justy where we could be totally turned into a pancake (have been rear ended, hit while stopped at a stop sign at an intersection waiting for traffic to clear...(car declared totalled by ins co but we bought it back for small sum and fixed the dents etc)...due to an impatient driver behind my hubby trying to push him out into

A curse on the house of those who would override our wishes to use our computers as we want, or them doing anything against us deleting/adding anything we want without some arrogant money hungry soandso outfit overuling our wishes, a curse on them for doing anything so dastardly to us. I think I just blew a fuse folks. Sorry about that. Ohhhhh this makes me so angry!!! I am just boiling mad at any and all the dirty arrogant scum out there that think my computer is just a repository of their garbage. It is mine, not theirs, and I reserve the right to only have what I say I want on it, not som

Thanks for sharing that post Marty, Gee I am glad that Pete still remembers our existence over here. Didn't he join in the beginning days? But I haven't seen him since. I hope he comes by and joins us once in awhile, at least come over for a cup of coffee at the new cafe' to destress after his hard work over at G4. Wow, with that nice endorsement of Pete's, we should get some more new members soon. God bless everyone.

Welcome Shinjin, to the best board around. I hope you will enjoy this wonderful place as much as we all do. Trust me, it grows on you!!! Lots of friendly people here to get to know. Plus we hope you will join in the threads, wherever you want to say something just pop in your post message, or start a new thread of your own. God bless everyone.

Thanks Marty!!! I love it when the little guy wins in a battle against a giant, because he is right. To bad it didn't go to a jury trial. HaHa!!! Microsoft would have had their lunch thrown at them by both the judge and jury!!! And it would have set a good marker precedent for future cases such as this. God bless everyone.

I found a good question thread on G4 pertaining to getting results from Google etc. And the posters ahead of me had some good links that I checked out, but got sidetracked as I frequently do on things, and found a way to customize your searches to strict safe filtering. Google has it set now to moderate filter in images only, (which is odd that they didn't cover both regular and images?), but if you set it to strict safe search, it will filter both regular searches and images. I really like that, as it is hard to guess what a site is like just from the original listing. Of course no filter is

Better get moving to get it all done before Microsoft does the automatic download. I just found a thread at G4 that the link says that MS is basically doing mandatory automatic update...by blocking anyone who has it turned off. I had heard it was to start April 12th, but maybe it has been set up to begin earlier. G4 thread on SP2 automatic update I imagine you have read the information for steps to do before the installation that used to be a separate sticky on G4 but is now in the "Get Your Answers Here" sticky (about halfway down). Here is a link to that one. G4 Get Your Answers Here incl XP

No, but I sat next to and petted a cheetah once at a mall exhibit from the Wildlife Safari here in Oregon. It purred just like a house cat would only louder, thankfully it didn't want to be a lapcat. Do you home cook (from scratch?) most of your meals or eat out alot? God bless everyone.

I think I will sit down over in "my" rocking chair out of the way, while having one of those mugs of hot coffee. Do we have a good Besttechie design for the mugs yet? Having a tug of war to take a nap, (which I never do except when I'm sick), or to stay up and catch up on the other boards I'm on. So the coffee will keep me up, and hopefully awake! Hubby had a sleepless night. I think the daylight savings time change affected him a bit. He tosses and turns and mutters...why do men mutter so much?...and the cat tromps around as if she is mad at him for disturbing her sleep...by then I wake up j

Congratulations on the new toy!!! I don't have one so am not to sure what it will need. I wonder though if it wont come with some software of it's own? I have a couple of links for you to check out. I have them in my "someday file". Jet Audio UltraPlayer I hope they will be of use to you. Have fun with the new toy!!! God bless everyone.

The map was right on the mark, But the Satellite (pointer) view has us sitting in the middle of the street 3 houses down from us. Ha! Our house does show up on it and our motorhome (though hard to tell it's a motorhome) in back driveway too. Our city/county has done some very accurate small plane views along with the actual maps done for the property tax department. Scary in a way that they can look right into your yard, see the type house, see the vegetable garden, cars etc. If we had been out in yard at time, we would have been visible too. Big brother has been around a long time in this ne

thesidekickcat replied to KeithLDick's topic in Graphic Design
I want to say thanks for the links posted by KeithLDick in this thread. "B" is there a place on the board to move this if you don't want it here? Even a special section for tips on photo imaging, or ??? I would appreciate it. Thanks. God bless everyone. -
Web Postcards Hide Trojan Horse Programs
thesidekickcat replied to LJM Master's topic in Security Alerts
Thank You for the warning! That's just plain mean for them to misuse such innocent things as postcards, or even greeting cards, to dump garbage on the unsuspecting victim. This one really bugs me because I might have fallen for it, as I am a post card collector (inactive), with over 100,000 (real paper) postcards. I might have thought it came from someone knowing of my hobby. GRRRRRRR!!! Thanks so much for the heads up!!! God bless everyone. -
We have missed you Shadow Thomas! Please come by more often. Have you seen the new cafe'? Needs a dj I think. God bless everyone.

I am sorry I am late with the birthday greeting. I hope you had a good one. May you have a long life blessed with good health, happiness, and wealth. By the way, a big welcome to Pandy, love your avatar. I hope you like these boards, we sure do. Join in the fun. We even have a nice new cafe', with good coffee, and good friends to gab with. God bless everyone.

Thanks for the alert notification Liz. And for all the good replies. We have been through identity theft a few years ago, luckily it seems to have not gone past the credit card company as far as we can tell. We think it was an inside job at the credit card company, because the people who stole our account had all the information when they called in to say we had moved out of state. Everything, card and pin numbers, maiden name, and something else no one could have known or found out. If my hubby didn't keep track of when the bills should arrive and hadn't called in when the Visa one was a few

Programs For Flashdrive
thesidekickcat replied to murtu52's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
If I were in your shoes, with a small amount of space on that thing, I would make a folder of your favorites/bookmarks that would be of help to you at school, then export that folder to the flash drive. Then you wouldn't have to remember the name/url or do a Google search for links you need, assuming of course you will have internet access at school. Plus you might be able to get a bigger capacity flash drive on sale, so watch the Sunday paper ads. They aren't so expensive now. Best Buy's ad this last Sunday had a 128 MB flash drive listed for $14.99 after rebates, and a 512 MB one for 39.99 a
