The older version isn't supported anymore and you may still get caught with something that is missed with a scan. The reason I didn't uninstall it, and then install the new one, was so many people were having trouble at first with it, then I found it was still updating so stayed with it. I was wondering why they still update my older version (one just prior to the current one), if it isn't supported anymore? It appears to me they support it by their allowing updates for it When I update it, then do my scan, it includes new stuff in the list in scan status bar. It immunizes too. So am I protec

Thanks for doing the vacuuming, that is hard work for a place this big! You did a great job too. Will I ever learn to spell that vac word right? nah! Forgot to spell check last time too. I have at least two or three wrong ways to spell it, just never the right one without spell-checking. Now the place is nearly ready for the rest of the crowd if we can just get them over here. Good night folks. Pat. God bless everyone.

Thanks for the reminder to thank them. I have been amazed that the thread stayed open so long. Also how little flaming was in it. Another miracle. But yes I am sure the mods kept it alive in spite of normal policies over there. I think it has even exceeded the number of posts to automatically close it too. Wow G4 being nice is something I would like to see continue. So will go thank the mods too. Pat. God bless everyone.

I'm glad the cafe doors and windows were shut so no rain/wind damage, but oh my the smell of rotten food is pretty bad in here, so will open the place up to air it out, since it isn't raining now. So since I am the first one here I'll start cleaning up that stuff. Glad we have a garbage disposal, and a vent above the stove...krinkled up nose...phew! So now the refrig is cleaned out, and I've washed it down inside with soap and water, and rinsed it with vanilla water, and added a new box of baking soda, so it should be ready to use by tomorrow. Now to clean up the coffee pots. Sure glad they

Posted this on other thread, but it needs to go here too for Mac!!! I want to give a very special Thank You to Mac for providing us with a great temporary home away from home!!! He gave us shelter, just in time to save our sanity, as we were wandering from place to place footsore and weary, homesick for family and home. He rescued us from strange places and hard to understand cultures, bringing us into a safe refuge from the cruel world we had been tossed into . Mac knew we sorely needed a safe family place to stay for the remainder of the evacuation, so he did what needed to be done fo

It's so good to be back home again, traveling around is okay for a time, but home sweet home is the best place for me!!! I sure do appreciate Jeff's hard work giving us back our wonderful boards. Welcome aboard the greatest boards around anywhere. I think you will find you know a lot of us refugees though many are from all sorts of places on the web. Jeff is BestTechie who started this wonderful place for us all. You might remember him as Beluga from TTV and G$. Try clicking on the members thing at top next to the calendar of the page to see how many you recognize. (Has anyone noticed how bad the G$ boards get when it is around the full moon?) Also a time saving tool is the View New Posts thing on line below the members/calendar etc. It brings up all the active threads since your last

Look at the offer and see if you can get it cheaper by doing two years. I saw one offer recently for two years for $20. I already subscribe to it, but am so far behind on all my magazines that I seldom get time to read it. But I do like the reviews of things just to see what is available. A recent issue reviewed large LCD monitors. The latest says it has a special PC Security section on "How To Beat The Bad Guys" . My advice, go to the store and thumb through it at the magazine rack to see if you might like to subscribe. That's what I did originally. Here is a link to their website. PC World

Dry them and store up enough to make Stuffing/Dressing. (Don't add corn! Ha!). The only time a crust is good fresh is when it is fresh homebaked out of the oven. Unfortunately my Mom always said don't eat the crust until the rest is gone because it keeps the rest of loaf from drying out....I would sneak back to kitchen and eat it anyhow slathered with great gobs of butter, unless Dad beat me to it. Pat. God bless everyone.

Better to start new thread if old one had people that answered the first question in full, or ask all questions in first post. At least that is the preferred way over on G$ where many of us landed from TTV before coming here. If question is connected to the first one, add a link to that thread perhaps? Of course I could be all wrong for how the tech guys want to handle it here so will defer to their opinions. Good luck on learning this stuff. Pat. God bless everyone.

I did my Spybot update today, though didn't pay attention to the date on it. 962KB for Detection Rules. And the English language one was 22KB. Went through the Australia mirror site for the detection rules, and did fine. But it gave a bad checksum for the tiny English language update, so tried the two Safer networking Europe places and 1st one didn't work, but #2 did. Then immunized it and will scan later tonight when I am offline. I do have the older version still, so maybe it works better than newer one that came out awhile back? Pat. God bless everyone.

I'm glad you are back with us Mac, but sorry so much bad stuff has been happening. I guess I missed it somewhere (or forgot it? ...the older I get the worse my memory is it seems...sorry), who is Ashley, and when did she die? I'm so sorry you lost someone you cared about. I hadn't been worrying about you (to much) lately because I thought you were considering moving to Las Vegas and perhaps had gone there to check it out or were in process of moving or something. The trouble with life's troubles is we have to go through them to get to the other side. I so much would prefer to go around ever

If you run out of coffee, (worst nightmare!), clean out the garage to make room for your buying up coffee by the caseload on the next Costco trip, then visit the dump for a twofer. Have a cup of coffee while you dump your garbage. The next new thing? Ugggggh!!! Coffee perks up visit to the dump I know the NW is famous (or infamous) for all it's coffee places and our many coffee aficionados, but this story takes the cake (albeit a stale dumped one?). Pat. God bless everyone. -

Finally found this thread after a half hour or so search... couldn't remember what I said in whatever thread or post about this story. Ha! Anyhow was catching up on the stack of newspapers by my chair yesterday and today and found the latest update to this great story. Hope you like it. Oct 5th column, so may not last long on the online site for the Oregonian. Storm Victims Overwhelmed by Kindness of Oregonian Strangers So good can come out of such awful Katrina destruction. I love good happy endings, or in this case a new beginning. Pat. God bless everyone.

I'd be lost without all the wonderful advice from so many members here. With a noobie like me, it takes a village.....and very simple words, screenshots, patience, etc, etc Thank you all so much for sharing your expertise. You all have no idea how -
I saw this in my Oregonian today but their online site didn't have it, so Googled for it from another paper for you folks. Philadelphia Inquirer This 15% restocking fee starts tomorrow, for various electronics, home appliances, tools, lawn and garden, and automotive merchandise depending on certain circumstances as outlined in linked article (which my paper didn't include and how many others didn't either?) Anyhow it may be the final straw for those of us who still try to shop at Sears. I know I haven't been to happy with the changes in the past couple of years, especially the nearly non-exis

Howdeee (said in a a bad imitation of Minnie Pearl) Ian. Glad you found the BestTechie boards and decided to sign up for the best boards around! I'm warning you though, this place is habit forming!!! Many of us have come from the old TechTV boards that were taken over by G4, we tried their boards and/or scattered around the internet's various tech etc boards until Jeff (Beluga on the other boards) started up this one as home base for us all. During our various board travels, we made new friends who came with us over here, plus word of mouth via links and PMs on other boards, plus the Google
