Mac are you ok? I saw on the news tonight about a really bad twister taking out some buildings in or around Colorado Springs...isn't that where you are? I hope your place wasn't affected. We have been having some thunderstorms since Sunday late afternoon, with heavy showers, and the low is just sitting off the coast spinning the storms on in, so will be offline and unplugged when they are predicted to hit our area. Woke up to a real nasty midwinter type cloudburst this morning, couldn't even see the house next door 10 feet away through the downpour. Scared the cat so bad she threw up, plus she

I remember my Dad used to say about a slightly not on the ball worker "If his brains were gun powder he wouldn't have enough to blow his nose!" Isn't it to bad we even need such expressions for slackers? Why don't some people have a good work ethic? Were they never trained to do actual work, or is it just lazyness, or selfishly wanting everything without working for it, what is their problem? Pat God bless everyone

Welcome to the best boards around, Betamaxman! The name sounds familiar, TTV, Leoville? Anyhow welcome and enjoy! This board has a good variety in it's scope, though many of us just like to goof off in a (mostly) family friendly way... Pat God bless everyone

Ok you guys, now you had me laughing there!!! Good thing I hadn't taken a sip of ginger ale just before i read that last part! Glad to see you back too Makai, sorry about the 'midlife scare'. I hope things are going better for you now. Yes getting older is not for the faint of heart. And I always say you need to be in good health with plenty of energy, to fight...oops/deal with the health care/hospital system nowadays! Hope to see you here more often now you got your computer fixed, and found your way back here. Remember this board can be claimed as essential to your health to destress yourse

My Wallet Is Fat, From Graduation Cash! Yeah!
thesidekickcat replied to Honda_Boy's topic in Open Chat
Congratulations HondaBoy on your graduation with honors!!! Also congratulations on your plans for going on to college! I agree to get the basics out of the way with the cheaper community college degree, then transferring it. And think of all the money you will save going to community college, and I assume living at home during that time! By the time you do go on to the state college or whereever, you will be even more mature and better able to handle (ignore) the things that other students do that waste so much of their money/time/lives, instead of getting the education they went for. Norton Replacing Ghost With Save & Restore
thesidekickcat replied to thesidekickcat's topic in On The Web
Yes I sure know how hard it is to be rid of old hidden stubborn Norton stuff, still have some of it left over and giving me trouble (I have used Symantec removal tools several times and part of it is still there! ) which is why I will end up doing a clean install one of these days. The reason I posted this was I have seen board people here and elsewhere mentioning Ghost, plus the recent ads for various places listing bundles of Norton stuff with Ghost 10 included prompted me to tell people it is being phased out even though it is less than a year old, and Norton has this new version. Nor -
Thanks for the encouragement Liz!!! It does seem pretty scary to me, even though we did one once before but had HP tech support walking us through it step by step (though he had one thing wrong...had hubby set it to Fat32 instead of NTFS which I argued against but lost). Hubby says he will help me this time??? But oh my he knows way less than I do about computers and you all know how little I know! I do have the howtos printed out from....ooops can't remember the name of the place right now. Yes I am starting a list of questions to ask here at BT's when the time comes. I was going to do it

Ghost is now officially gone, replaced by Norton Save & Restore. Norton Save & Restore is an Old Ghost Reborn Pat God bless everyone

Symantec Sues Microsoft to stop Vista Release This could be an interesting fight to watch. I wonder if Symantec really will be able to get an injunction stopping the Vista release? Entirely possible with the unfavorable judicial views of Microsoft in some of the recent major Microsoft battles. Pat God bless everyone

There are lots of patches/updates, critical and otherwise, since SP4 came out...was it last summer? So do head on over to Microsoft updates to see what the scan comes up with. I just got my Win2000 SP4 cd from them. $9.98 I think it was. Considered it a bargain compared to trying to do it online on dialup, if and when I ever get brave enough to do a clean install. Pat God bless everyone.

6. When she opens her mouth, it seems that this is only to change whichever foot was previously in there. That one's way to close to home for me! As some of you have probably already noticed! Ha! Pat God bless everyone.

5 Lessons To Make You Think About The Way We Treat People
thesidekickcat replied to JSKY's topic in The Comedy Club
Thanks for the good reminders about doing the important things in caring about and helping others, even in this rush-rush me-ism society. Pat God bless everyone -
One of the rules here in Portland that bugs me, besides the gazillion other things I dislike about this town, is that you are responsible for maintaining the city owned parking strip on street side of sidewalk. If there are trees on it you need a permit everytime you do even the least amount of pruning. If no trees and you want to plant some you need a permit and can only plant the city approved trees. So most people do without necessary pruning until tree rots away and falls down, or prune illegally, same with planting trees...plant what you want to heck with city hall, or don't plant any! Oh

I don't know about downloading any, or playing online (watch out for the latest Poker site virus/malware/spyware problem ... can't recall just what the warning was that I just read a few days ago on F-Secure). I do remember that last time I was at Staples store, that they had inexpensive games, like Hoyles card games, plus other games boxes too, and I think another package said Poker. So there were probably several different types of Poker in it for about $10, unless you get in on some closeouts that were buy one get a coupon back to buy another for half price. Other stores, like Fry's, might

Another interesting new mapping service, this one with a life story twist. Folks map out contours of their lives on Platial Here's the second part of the May 12th Oregonian article. Platial map site shows palatial potential but now it is ever so slow I bet this will take off like wildfire once the bugs are worked out of the beta version. Pat God bless everyone

I forgot to post this when it was in our morning paper May 5th, so read it fast before it soon becomes unavailable on Oregonian website. Isn't it amazing the just by sheer luck discoveries that happen in developing new products? Researches trip over nano method Pat God bless everyone

I thought some of you folks might be interested in this article. It mentions some help tools that I haven't seen mentioned on the boards before, along with lots of great suggestions to solve problems. Though I doubt anything less than a clean install on my system will help me. Now all I have to do is get brave enough to do it...and maybe have new glasses by then to be able to see what I'm doing! Never Call Tech Support Again PC World article Pat God bless everyone

a) For those with no children - this is totally hysterical! I am laughing so hard I am nearly in tears! That would be a good 'reality' show right there! That poor Mom! Someone give her, and all mothers, a medal for surviving raising kids! No wonder the bumper sticker saying "Insanity is inherited from your children" has been so popular over the years! i'll turn the code off for 30 minutes once you register, send me a PM so that I can turn it back on. The code is to protect the forum and the users from spam bots. Finally got back to this thread, and have successfully signed up, as Sidekickcat, for your forum thanks to you turning off that code thing. You sure that wasn't some psychological ink blot test to see if we are brainy enough to join? Or an Andy Warhol (sp?) (or who is the other artist I am thinking of?) art type computer code box? Will check out your board tomorrow, as I need to get to bed pretty soon. Didn't sleep much last nigh

Fiction according to Truth or Fiction site. Also it supposedly was MR not Mrs. Stella Awards Number 7 I have seen several versions of this tall tale in last 20 or so years in rv magazines, and in comics, and of course the always factual....yeah right! emails, with varying amounts of money and several different motorhome brands, and no proof of any of them ever happening. Since cruise control has been a standard or optional fixture on cars, trucks, and motorhomes for many years, I doubt any jury or company would award damages if anyone was so stupid as to do any away from driver's seat stunt s

Interesting thread! Yes I tend to agree with Pete, that ethanol is a short term view with no counting of additional long term environmental costs associated with it from farm to gas tank. Yes even here in Oregon ethanol plants are being built....to use corn! So why not wood products or straw or even recycled paper products etc? Oh the waste to use corn or soy with half the world hungry at any given time. Also the extra land required to grow more corn/soy, and their heavy use of fertilizers and the heavy water requirements depleting water tables. An environmental disaster in making or so it se

Hello everyone! Yes I am back, just haven't had time to really sit down and talk much. Had a lot of pages here to catch up on the other day with short posts to some threads, but no time for real talk. Thanks for the well wishes from you folks for me to recover from my bad fall before our vacation. The well wishes and prayers must have worked, as I felt so much better than I expected to feel considering how hard I fell. Still some stiffness and soreness, but most of the bruises are gone now...I wore different colored print shirts as the bruise colors changed so they would blend in! Ha! It was h

The forum looks nice, but for some reason I can't seem to get it to let me register...keeps giving me an error on the code...which bugs me no end...as I have trouble seeing and that code part is so hard to see against that background stuff let alone to decipher which is a number versus a letter...so having to go back, refresh, and re-enter everything including a fresh code, over and over again for the last half hour is the pits! So how do I make it let me register? What am I doing wrong? Pat God bless everyone
