  1. Clean the keyboard with compressed air for electronics. If that doesn't help you may need to remove the keyboard and check the connection or replace the keyboard. If you have never done this you will probably need to bring it to a local technition or send it to Sony. Is it under warranty?
  2. That sucks. It is a rude awakening to be told that you have suffered heart problems. I hope your dad has a speedy recovery.
  3. That worm has been known about since 2003. A patch from Microsoft was released. I wouldn't worry about reporting the IPs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SQL_slammer_(computer_worm)

  6. I've been too disabled to clean this dump. After 6 weeks in the hospital undergoing treatment I will need a couple of more weeks to regain my strength.
  7. I pay for the full security suite Panda AV Pro 2009. I also use the Opera browser, OpenDNS plus a hardware firewall. For those occasions that I must use Internet Explorer or Fireflop I find that SpywareBlaster is a decent program for blocking malware attacks against them and their related browsers. Once a month I run the online scans from Panda just to double check. You will find many different opinions about what is best. Everyone has their own setup that they feel comfortable with. The best way to stay clean is safe surfing habits.
  8. Check with SIW or another program that shows keys to see if the key used during the installl matches the one on the case.
  9. With all the garbage that has been loaded on that hard drive I would run DBAN or KillDisk and wipe the drive clean. Then format and install XP.

The host computer must be running WinXP Pro. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsXp/using/m...emoteintro.mspx The other computer needs to have Remote Desktop Client software installed on it. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa...RDCLIENTDL.mspx If the host computer is using WinXP Home read the following tip. http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/06/14/i...p-home-edition/

  13. Sometimes it is decent being sick during these cold spells. I can supervise the other workers from home and not set foot outside. I do need to install more insulation in this old house but an extra blanket thrown about my shoulders makes up for it.
  14. Download the stand alone version Windows XP Service Pack 3 Network Installation Package for IT Professionals and Developers to a folder named XPSP3 or similar.
  15. If you downloaded the stand alone file for slipstreaming look for WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe in your download folder.

  18. Shut down the PC and unplug it. Clear the CMOS by moving the jumper and/or removing the battery temporarily. Put the jumper back in the previous position and replace the battery. Plug in the PC and start it. Enter the Bios on startup and find the memory settings. Set them to Auto. Also make sure the memory sticks are compatible with the motherboard and that they match each other.

  21. We should just let Israel blow Hamas off the face of the Earth. It's time for us to allow the Middle East to wipe each other out. Once that is completed then we can erase the winner from existence.
  22. It will take several years to clean up the mess left by the "Great Decider". I would like to see a Federal works program started in the highest areas of unemployment as a first step. It is also time to trash NAFTA and rebuild manufacturing in the U.S.
  23. Possible overheating of the graphics chip. When is the last time the dust bunnies were blown out?
