  1. built the beast myself. Too bad it's outdated hardware. Athlon XP 3000+, 1GB RAM, Audigy 2 ZS, and 6600GT. The case is cool and and I have DVD-ROM and DVD+/-RW. I wish I had A few hundred bucks for a 7800GS to extend the life of my rig but I'm savin about $400 for some 97-01 Acura Integra GS-R Replica wheels for my car. maybe i could get one or the other for my birthday in April. It's too bad the Sidewinder Series cases aren't as cool as mine anymore. I think MGE messed up dropping that case. I might even have overlooked the cheap front USB ports and gotten a blue version of the case with Silv
  2. Here's the sidewinder close up. It no longer has a blue LED CPU fan it sucked. Replaced with smaller black HSF that worked far better. Here's the whole setup. I haven't any pictures of the Compaq or the Beige rig. Need to break out the Digital Camera sometime and get updated pics of the computers and the car.
  3. Exactly as the title says. I've noticed people have done some insane customization of the Windows XP looks Well I've finally gotten tired of blue & green and Silver & Green. I Might want venture into other customizations but I'm sure it is a simple program that'll take care of that mess but right now just the Taskbar and Start menu Colors. Thanks for any help.
  4. Happy B-Day to my manager at work. He's cool but the job sucks and the owner/boss, is a douchebag. So happy B-Day to Will.
  5. Well my sidewinder is already pretty cool with it's clear side panel and itsmultiple blue LED fans and Sidewinder written down the side. My Compaq is the one I want to do the closet thing with and its already black and silver. If I get my grand mothers computer I might mod it out the wazzoo cause it's still in a Beige case.
  6. watch TV there is a lot of great ideas there.
  7. skill level: Begginer in modding, in building PC's....Guru (in my town) Budget: Next to nothing. My job sucks
  8. your onboard should disable itself when you install the card. thats how it worked on an old system of mine. make sure you use the latest up to date drivers from nVidia. I believe the current version is 81.98. and one more tip..... buy one for me PLEASE. I'm stuck with a 6600GT AGP for one system and a FX5700 Ultra on another. *Nevermind the 6800GS the 7800GS just came out for AGP only and the eVGA Superclocked version is insanely fast but still not close to the 7800 GTX.
  9. Awesome dude. Yoshi back in the days of TSS did one with I think a metal .50 Cal box. Either that or it was a .30 cal box. More than likely a .50 cal though. Me I'd like to move my Tower into the closet right next to my desk and have extra long IDE cables goin to the floppy and CD drives and some extra long power button cables. I'd like to mount it all under my desk for a kinda of cool hidden effect, and convenient cup holders . I probably won't do it though. I'd really like to do some mods but due to my limited creativity I can't really do it to easily. Though I do have a somewhat active ima
  10. YES EXACTLY. Come to think of it our "Domestic" PT Cruiser's VIN starts with 3 meaning Mexico. My dad is so PO'ed at "American" vehicles right now tht he says our next family vehicle is gonna be either a Toyota or a Honda. He really wants an Altima but my mom hates them.
  11. oh man, I love WWII tanks but I have no patience or wood working skill (or the patience to learn). I'll just stick to manufactured ones.
  12. usually what the guy at the shop I hang out at does is when he gets a comp witha fried mobo he usually suggests a new system due to the proprietary things each manufacturer does such as power button jumpers, shapes sizes and compatibility. Usually the fried mobo systems he gets are little cheapo Celeron or old P4 Compaqs, HP's, Dell's, and eMachines. I don't think I've seen a single AMD based system being repaired though. Hehe. Had to bash intel somehow today. The vast majority of the complaints he hears is "I can't get on the internet." He gets a few fried boards but can't work with them e
  13. Yes Nissans are made in right here in good ol' Big orange Country. It's Tullahoma I think. Ford sucks now ,I love the older mustangs and I like a few trucks but not the Ranger, a Mazda design, (Mazda Sucks) Daimler Chrysler Front wheel drive 4 banger vehicles suck (our 03 PT Cruiser has been to the shop more times than our 98 Tacoma and My 95 Civic excluding the 3 wrecks a previous owner inflicted on it), GM Front wheel drive 4 bangers suck. I have no complaints about the other Vehicles Each Manufacturer Makes. My Civic also made in the US. The VIN starts with a 1 and it Syas Honda Manufactuin
  14. all my systems have always had good PSU's. My gateway, my 2 Compaqs (one is over 8 years old), my emachine, and even the PSu that came with my MGE XG Sidewinder case is still runnin strong. The 200W PSU in my bedroom compaq is chuggin along fine powering all the regular stuff plus a GeForce FX5700 Ultra. Never had failures or restarts. Just cause I have always had good luck with mine doesn't mean that they are always gonna be good. I would say that a lot of OEM supply's are cheap I guess i've just been real lucky. Alos the ages of all my PSU's, Gateway 5 years, Compaq #1, 8 years, Compaq #2, 1
  15. I have had only one eMachine. A friend of mine gave it to me Xmas eve 03. The thing was built in 99. It was an eMonster 600. It had a PIII 600MHz slot 1 with original 64mb of PC100 but when i got it it had a 128mb PC133 stick in it too. It had a VooDoo3 3000 in it that I immediately chucked and put a GeForce 2 in it. The only prob I had was I had bad luck with hard drives. It originally had a 20GB seagate but it sounded like my friend had dropped the HDD cause it failed to work and rattled really badly when you shook it. I replaced it temporarily with a 2GB Seagate then put a 10GB Fujitsu. It
  16. Try comparing Viscious PC, Alienware, Dell and parts from newegg. Alienware makes cheaper systems now. In a class I was in we had a $2000 limit for 2 systems. HP Gateway and other major places were blocked. Only Dell wasn't. I told people to use Viscious PC cause it was easier to figure out than Alienware or Falcon-NW. Only the lesser known and gaming computer websites weren't blocked. I did mine at home cause unlike the rest of the class I wasn't computer illiterate and knew what I was doin. I compared building a system from parts from Newegg and TigerDirect
  17. it's still a great card but not the greatest. All the audigy cards are good. even a Live! 24bit is pretty good too. the greatest consumer card, particularly for gaming, would be the X-Fi series. But that is mega overkill for you. heck I ain't gettin one till I build my next system anyway (which is actually kind of a ways off 5 months at least)
  18. I have some kickin Altec Lansings that i have had for about 1 1/2 - 2 years. They have made new versions and higher end versions since mine though but they still have the same basic design. Here's a link to them I'd get the AHP 512i's or the 712i. Iffin' ya need a headset I'd go with the AHS 502i's (i have the older version called just the AHS 502) or the 602i's newegg sells a bunch of them.
