  1. Anyone here drink Amstel light? I heard on the radio it was one of the best tasting light beers. Just wondering if it was worth trying. BH
  2. I liked it because of the action, and the appeal of a independantly funded 'covert counter terrorist unit'. I am kind of an action movie buff. If you throw in a little bit o' hacking, you got me. Sneakers, Wargames, the Net, Swordfish, the 13th floor, The matrix, I like them all. The problem is, real hacking isn't very exciting to watch, so they have to do this 'flying electrons' graphics thing to keep the 'unwashed masses' entertained. I think the best portrayal of real hacking would be in hackers <gasp >. Specifically when they do the all night session reverse engineering a v
  3. Ha! I had a buddy who had one of those. I used to tease him and tell him all of the drooling as a child had destroyed the hair folicals He could grow a better mustache than me though... BH
  4. Dang! No supervision? I guess you can blame that on puberty, since you stopped before adulthood. I knew someone who admitted he committed 435 felonies in one year, and got caught for a single offense. For that he got 17 years (he killed a cop). The rest of his offenses weren't kid stuff either. I wonder what the ratio the average professional criminal maintains. Personally I think it needs to be taken into account during sentencing. Last I heard, 10% of the criminals commit 90% of the crime. We should identify then and lockem' up, for a long, long time. Then maybe we could feel safe g
  5. Yea, I love that. I was watching Swordfish and noticed that to hack, you should just bang your fingers on the keyboard like a 2 year old. Her comes my hack: poewhq[ow3y' ohw4tgohw8sp7vrti;2dlrk ajgkjwrlgfn/,.fajge5jgLKse,mfjgbwkjh4bt,jebkUEGFHJTAFDEUFG/LWITHLIHYT'LEI4HYW4GEFGKJWHEGJUYG Did anything happen? Oh well, some ATM in Idaho is probably spitting money out right now BH
  6. Up to 2.89 this morning in Maryland. Here we go again. BH
  7. I have heard this for years, and while I agree it can: 1) Make being alone more tolerable. 2) Finance the search. 3) Make it easier to keep. And have you ever noticed, people with a lot of money don't use this expression? BH
  8. Thanks all, I will try this a little later today. It seems I don't have a choice, I have to put Windows on the first drive. Regards, BH
  9. Reminds me of an old sig line: The Internet, where men are men and girls are FBI agents. BH
  10. does it actually need to be the primary drive, or do you just want ubuntu to boot by default, but have the option of booting XP. Is my understanding above correct, if so i can give you some instuctions :-) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I built 2 identical machines, and one got Hijacked by my wife . Now I have to merge these 2 machines for my own use. I really don't want to modify the XP load at all. I was hoping I could use the Ubuntu's bootloader to load XP on demand. Can it be done that way, or am I forced to load it into the master bootrecord on the primary drive? BH
  11. Cheap radio, input jack. Then you need to download microsofts Windoows Media Encoder (not player). Launch it with a batch file called by the windows version of cron ('at' I think). You can even use it to stream it to the web so you can listen at work. It has been a while, but I did it. It worked well, except that the batch file overwrote the media file each day when it started. I could have fixed that, but lost interest when they started streaming my favorite radio show. Hope this helps. BH
  12. This is what I want to do: I have an existing machine with xp on the primary drive. I want to add a drive with Ubuntu already loaded. Can I make the Ubuntu drive be the primary drive, and point it to the XP load as an additional OS? If so, I would appreciate instructions or a link. TIA, BH
  13. It is ironic that all of us who say we aren't really group oriented are extremely into group participation on the boards. So maybe we ARE into groups, they just have to be the right KIND of groups. I have always maintained a small group of really close friends. After years I started to be able to profile my "group". It is as follows: 1) Usually smart. I have little paitence for stupid people. Sometimes I wish I did. 2) Funny and light hearted. I don't hang with angry people, it messes up the vibe. 3) Anti-Bigots. If you care about race or creed, I don't want you around. 4) Technology
  14. That gives you three PCI and 1 AGP in most boards. If you take into account built in lan, USB, Sound, etc, it is enough. I have a MB now for a mod project I am doing, and it will be plenty. We really arent talking about anything but the loss of 3 PCI slots. BH
  15. Women (Women are MUCH better than girls. After 25 they get down right likable )
  16. Hey! Someone needs to throw trash out of their cars so folks on community service have something to do! BTW, I don't litter. that is WHY my truck is filled with fast food bags and non-returnable plastic bottles... What I hate is when my daughter leaves a soda in the back seat drink carrier. Eventually it eats through the cup...YUCK! BH
  17. I thought this was a good deal, so I am passing it on: Antec HTPC Case BH
