If its driver related, go to the ati site, download the latest version of the catalyst drivers for the 9800, uninstall your old video adapter and drivers, reboot and reinstall with the new ones. If that doesn't fix it, try an OLDER set of drivers, sometimes newer is not always better.

That aside, I have seen a dramatic upswing lately in secured vs unsecurednetworks (now that its become easy to do and fairly reliable) I also base this not only on CC's opinion, although his explanation is clear and concise, so I quoted it (sue me, I'm lazy) but mostly on my own and those who work for and with me. Keep setting'em up that way, it makes easy money for our guys to show a homebased or small business how easily we can find their network. I think the major point is this. Turn on the encryption and the rest, is as you said, a moot point.

I'd take that in a heartbeat for a sub $500 pc. Good job. that will run just about anything you want it to. It will run all the games you want, not at lightening speed but certainly playable.

From what i gather, the max ram is 512 and it has two slots so a 512 chipisn't going to be recognized. The econd part of the equation is, not all pc133 sticks are backwards compatable anymore, in fact there used to be many more available years ago then there are today. Swapp it out for 2 sticks of pc100 and go to town with it.

try making it the only drive connected and boot into your bios, that will be the quickest way for you to determine 1) if it shows up and 2) what it shows up as with the jumpers in a certain position.

Make sure you rebbot between uninstalling and reinstalling.

If it chimes in every time you display a new page, I would guess you have a default sound associated with that action. (set all sounds to "no sound" and see what happens)
