Now maybe you can build a better mean machine. Just take it slow tho. And we'll be waiting to hear more news.... Hopefully alot better news. Hang in there old buddy. We're pulling for you.
  2. I believe that's what part of this update is supposed to fix shanenin. Also I noticed that my system calmed down. Before the update, my hard drive seemed to never stop doing something, the light never stopped flickering. Now it just flickers every now and then like it did with XP. And my processor isn't active as much.
  3. Reporting on the latest updates. Well, It made my Boot-up, and shutdown times faster. That's good... LOL And the whole system seems to run smother and a little quicker. (not that I thought it wasn't quite this snappy before). But it is noticeable. As for all the other added goodies. I'll have to see how they affect things. Some of the new up-grades and enhancements might not be important to me because I have had no problems with any of my older hardware working. (Found drivers for all my goodies). And I haven't played all that many games as of yet. But if you read all the added features th
  4. You can get them here. KB 938979 KB 938194 Microsoft still isn't commenting on when a beta of Service Pack 1 for Vista will be officially released (My money is on November), but the company has posted two updates that are expected to be part of that final package: the "performance and reliability" update and the "compatibility and reliability" update. These are official releases. The "standalone updates" have been posted to Microsoft's support site, and users will need to validate their Vista installs via WGA to download them. Explorer file transfer (copy/move) slowness looks to have been fi
  5. Good to hear all is well. Sounds like you built a great rig there. Now next time you need to replace the Ram... Give Liz a call. She's becoming quite the computer geek nowdays.

  13. I have read reports that some users are reporting that Vista is being spied on by different departments of the government. These so called reports are coming from people running "Peer Guardian". Well, even tho Phoenixlabs reports that Peer Guardian 2 is not compatible with Vista. I have had no problem installing and running their program on my system running Vista. Now for two days running without any blocking on any settings. I have had a total of "0" hits. (unless I run utorrent). Then it list all the normal thing I find getting listed in Windows XP. Without running my torrent application i

  15. Did you take it out of the icebox? Why, Yes I did by gosh... Looking at getting one of them newfangled electric ones... But all them coils on top kinda worrys me. Is it an electric icebox, or a moonshine making machine....
  16. I agree with TT on this. We need more info. Does he use a third party firewall? They will sometime disable the windows firewall automatically. Running two firewalls at the same time can cause problems.
  17. Yes... That would make a difference to how your memory reads. If your motherboard can't handle the buss speed, that would cause errors. I'm glad you may have discovered the problem. I sure would like to know if getting the right stick solves your problems. Please let us know.
  18. Kids nowadays.... Time to bring in that good old block of ice. I remember the days of the dish of ice sitting in front of the fans. Ooooops.... letting onto my age a little bit here...... time to sneak away before anyone notices....

  21. You have it down to a tee. If I didn't know any better..... I would think the way you explained yourself. That you're some kinda expert that your not letting any of us on to..... LOL That sounds right on the money... Just don't push to hard. You'll know when the side tabs click into place that it's seated. One small trick.... Well, maybe not. Take a pencil eraser and lightly rub the contacts on the Ran before putting it in. Sometimes they coat the contacts to keep them looking new. That can sometimes make a new stick not work just right. One or more contacts might have to much coating on it a
