  4. No Problem. I thought it was a keeper also when I first seen it. Nice little thing to know if your wondering if somebody is using your PC to run bots off of.
  5. If you are trying to track down why your computer is running so slooowwwly, try using this simple DOS command from Digital Inspiration to uncover a possible problem: Type cmd in your Windows Run box. Type "netstat -b 5 > activity.txt" and press enter. After say 2 minutes, press Ctrl+C. Type "activity.txt" on the command line to open the log file in notepad (or your default text editor) This .txt file will have a record of everything that has made an Internet connection in the last couple of minutes; you can then check your task manager to find out where it is and take care of it The file a
  6. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Hope you have a great day today.
  7. Here's a trick that I don't think many people are aware of. Right-click on any folder in Windows Vista while holding down the shift key. You'll see an extra context-sensitive menu item there: Open Command Prompt here. Just click on this menu and a command window will open with the current working directory set to the folder's actual location. What's neat about this is that if the target folder is a network location, Windows Vista silently maps a network drive to that location before opening the folder (so that your command prompt has a valid path containing a drive letter) and then deletes t

    I Lost A Friend.

I would also like to offer my my condolences. Been married 27 years and the only kids we ever had were the four legged kind. So I know how you feel. Been through a number of them ourselves. I think I hurt more when my four legged friends passes away, then I have for friends and family. Hate to admit to that..... But our animals are our children.
  9. By all means, give it a try. Like I said, I don't know if XP works or not that way. I see no reason why it wouldn't.. If my XP partition would recognize the onboard nic. I would know more.
  10. As Jeff says. It depends on your service. But it might help in other ways. I have to use two nic connections. For the reason, my 10/100/1000 nic built into the mobo still won't except or work under XP. No matter what I do. So I had to add a card just for XP to connect (dual boot system). Vista just loves the integrated setup tho. and just flies with the 10/100/1000 setup. But I got to noticing both nic cards were working while running Vista. Started to dig deeper and discovered that both are talking to the network and moving information for different usages. So if this works for you. One ca
  11. Happy late Birthday wish.. Hope you had a great day.
  12. Mmmm. normally Vista is set to do early morning defrags. Yes it is a silent running in the background thing. But just try doing it manually once.. It keeps going and going and going.
  13. I cut up my cards over 10 years ago. I got caught up with all the fake charges and the like. My credit history was going down the tubes (literally). And since have been doing the same as TT. If I really need it. I get a loan from my bank. Just last year the wife and I decided to get a second car. (a little used SUV). The bank told me no problem. Went to the Chevy lot and found a nice used one. The salesman asked if they could finance it. They could do better then the bank, (not so...But) Not knowing just what my credit rating really was I told them ok if they could do better. But to keep in

  15. Way to much truth in this one.... LOL Good one.
  16. I don't know how many have discovered that defragmenting Vista can be a long chore. But I have been using a third party disk defragmenter that works very well and takes little time to run. auslogics - disk-defrag It's free and works great. Just disable Vista's defrag. and your set to go.
  17. I have had no problems with running Vista on one Disk, and XP on another. Depending on how you connect them it could create a new MBR for a dual boot setup. Just choose which one to boot from on startup. Or I connected my XP drive to the same line my CD/DVD is on, It always boots right to Vista. I use "Quick boot" (part of my motherboard. Just press F9 after the start-up post and it gives me the option there).
  18. I really like Vista. I only boot to XP to get the M$ downloads anymore. As for finding drivers..... MS has released loads of drivers in their updates. I have a 5 year old HP Flatbed scanner and HP Printer that took right off. (even in the last couple of beta releases) Never had a problem from day one. Some hardware drivers for internal component I had to search for... But it wasn't a big affair. cherokeechief; Vista puts the temp internet files in a virtual folder. (another big thing I really like). check out these three links for Vista's virtualization. Vista's File System Virtualization Ac

So far so good, got a couple of days of high 60s to low 70. But the frost warnings are in for the next two nights. High of 58 today. High 20s to low 30s for tonight. Talking in the mid 50s for the next two days. Scrambling to get in more wood. Liz; I think the way it's going, I'll have that snow before to much longer. And then I'll ship a box or two down to both Hondaboy for bragging and Shanenin for his "more lake effect snow" comment hitest; I'm right in the same pattern your getting there. You sure were not closer to each other then the map shows. Here where I'm at, you buy a 4 wheel dr
