Didn't see much new stuff on the morning news, but they said that they had evacuated the center of the city. Funny how so many of their buildings sound like they are alcohol themed. The Forsyth Bar building, the Guiness building..... Sounds like they are blaming a combination of previous weakening from the preceeding earthquakes and the location of this one for all the destruction. Beer or no beer, I bet that in a year those kiwis will not be living in tent cities with streets clogged with rubble like the Haitians still are.

Just saw some footage on CNN. The devastation in ChristChurch looks pretty extensive, almost as bad as Haiti was. They say the Guiness building collapsed, the hospital had to be evacuated, and the city has run out of ambulances.

Had an oscar mayer earlier for a snack, now trying to decide if I should go with spaghetti sauce or sausage and chicken gumbo.

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 SP1
Pete_C replied to raynertj's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Okay, pardon if some of this is repetetive, but I just copied what I told others to do that worked for them First off, .NET framework is incremental, building on older versions so you need to install the update for 1.1 first and then reboot and install the one for 3.5 Or you can uninstall all .Net framework entries in add/remove programs (start with highest number version first) and then get the full installer http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/1...tup-installer/ Download full package of Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1: dotnetfx35.exe (231 MB) http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...dotnetfx35 -
Two day sale locally , Oscar Mayer Wieners and bun length wieners are 99cents for a one pound pack, no limits. So I bought eight pounds and put some in the freezer for later and grilled a half pound on the grill outside . A couple days ago I grilled boneless skinless chicken breasts , and there was still one left, so I made skillet enchiladas. Chopped the chicken, diced some jalapenos and an onion and crumbled in some mexican queso fresco and heated it up . Then I took corn tortillas and ran them under water, then tossed them in a hot non stick skillet for thirty seconds, flipped them and h

How much free hard drive space do you have? Where are you getting the net framework downloads? Windows update or elsewhere? Net framework is incremental, meaning you must install them in order from lowest number on up and unless you have a newer OS you need them all . -
I think I would just use frozen concentrate, although probably still use the honey since it sounds good.

When you tried booting to the CD, did you first change bios boot order to include CD and then press the any key when prompted to press any key to boot to CD?

There is no need to limit yourself to one browser; and there is no such thing as the fastest or most secure. Browsers are constantly being updated, mainly due to discovery of security holes which make them vulnerable to exploits. One browser may be faster at rendering some components and others at another. Some may be more efficient at handling some things while others excel elsewhere. It is best to have several browsers, at least have two unreleated ones , so that if a virus disables one you still have a functioning one that will let you go for help. Additionally having more than one lets

Those darn cheeseheads brought their arctic weather with them. It was 21 when I woke up and the temperature is now down to 18, they say we could have wind chills to -10 tonight. We had freezing rain all night, followed by sleet and snow. DFW airport and Love Field airport are closed (How upset will those folks who paid thousands for superbowl tickets be when their flight gets canceled and the airline tells them that all flights are booked solid , so they can reschedule them for next week). Greenbay was scheduled to do their practice outside at SMU's stadium. But due to weather they had to n

I do not recommend leaving the laptop plugged in and powered off if the battery is fully charged. While modern rechargeable batteries (LiON) do not suffer from the"memory" issues early NiCad batteries did (where if you recharged it before it was fully discharged, it might eventually remember that level of charge as being all it can take resulting in a weaker and weaker battery each time it was charged), no battery is infinitely rechargeable and there is a risk if protection circuitry fails and the battery gets overcharged. Plugging it in while you work so that the battery is maintained shoul

Please double check, are these pictures saved there or are they actually shortcuts pointing to the folder where you saved it? Did you save it as a single html document or as web page complete (a folder included)? It is probably covered in TweakGuides Vista Annoyances http://www.tweakguides.com/VA_1.html or here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Windows-Photo-Gallery-frequently-asked-questions IT could have to do with having windows photo gallery as default image handler. Have you tried installing something like Irfanview or Faststone image viewer and making it default handler?

No backup lights and a defective catalytic converter and they let you pass inspeciton? Sounds like it was a death trap.

Essentially it is unnecessary. The windows defrag utility (based on Executive software Diskkeeper) is set to automatically "optimize the drive when idle" , ie the moment windows detects that your hard drive is not doing anything , it begins doing mini defrags moving files to where they belong, making sure files are contiguous (an issue that should not be an issue if you have NTFS which is a file oriented system and will search for an appropriate area on the drive large enough to store the file contiguously when it is originally saved, as opposed to FAT which is address oriented and begins savi

That is one of the costs you face when you go with a new OS, often you find that your hardware is not compatible. Yes, you can try running things in compatibility mode, but remember that it may cause problems (freezes, crashes , conflicts with other devices..) Since it still works on the XP machine; you may find that the best option is to keep it connected to that one and use it if you need to use the device. Then eventually go and buy a new win7 compatible one for the new machine.

If it were an American car with Rear Wheel Drive , I would definitely go with going to the junk yard for a used transmission. Given it is a honda, well probably a transverse mounted engine with the transmission shoved into the engine compartment. Basically need to pull the engine to get to the transmission. I'd probably let a pro do it or junk the car.

My old digital camera died. One of the copper tabs inside the battery box snapped off, no more power. Possibly I may fix it some day, but for now I just took advantage of sale prices and bought a new 15Megapixel with 15x optical zoom. So far I just set it to the full automatic mode where it chooses the aperture, iso, f stop, lighting and scene settings and I just zoom in or out , press the autofocus and click away. Starts up nice and fast and takes the pics faster than the old one did. Has lots of neat features (face recognition, smile recognition and can take a pic automatically when it de

I long since reached the conclusion that if they say I must buy now, must make up my mind today; well I will not be rushed and will take my business elsewhere. I like doing my research , comparing prices , and thinking twice whether or not I really need it. I did take advantage of a buy one get one free with 99 cent shipping to reorder some nutritional supplements I regularly take. But I am not going to rush to a store to stand in line to find that they only had three of the advertised specials in stock and no rain checks. Same with "cyber" deals, seen too many times where I get there to orde

Had a family get together and did lots of gobbling (25 lb bird) . Left most of the meat at the kids house when we left but took home the carcass and enough dark meat to make turkey soup. (Hey it was down to 31 this morning and will only be in the fifties or sixties today, that is cold for Texas, soup weather).

Do you get post codes or any indication that it is actually booting up? If you connect speakers do you get the windows loading noise? Or is it as if everything is dead?
