Specials this week include split chicken breasts for 79Cents a pound and pollock filets for 99 cents a pound. Definitely gonna grill some chicken, might try the pollock on the flattop to see how it turns out.

Yesterday was beautiful grilling weather so I put the stainless steel flattop griddle on the grill out back and fired it up screaming hot and made burgers. I really like the crust a burger gets when cooked on a really hot griddle like that. In fact, I have begun using it to cook a lot of things like beef or chicken for fajitas (pound em out flat like scallopini and marinate in a ziploc and then toss em on the screaming hot griddle and let em smoke away and then flip and you are done in a couple of minutes, just chop it up and toss in a tortilla or pita or burger bun with appropriate fixings.

Are there keyloggers on Samsung laptops?
Pete_C replied to Peaches's topic in Tech Rumors, Updates, & Alerts
Deleted the alert, but this is a bogus rumor and Samsung will probably sue his pants off for spreading it. He really should have tested the files his security software identified as a keylogger before he went public. http://www.ubergizmo.com/2011/03/samsung-keylogger-false-alarm/ His "security software" (GFI Vipre) found a folder C:\Windows\SL and identified this as StartLogger key logger without even testing the contents or checking to see what created it. It turns out it is installed by Windows Live (Microsoft) if you include an international language pack which includes the Slovak langu -
One of our neighbors (who has complications of polio) recommended putting in grab bars too, but if I had put one where the OL would want it she would have hit her head on it when she fell. Still I may place a couple higher up where they can still offer a place to grab but be safely out of the way. Yep, she is doing better, between pain meds and the braces she is okay as long as she keeps movement to a minimum. I cautioned her not to become immobile and risk blood clots so she gets up and hobbles from bed to computer and back several times a day. One leg requires a full length soft cast with m

Yesterday the OL slipped in the shower and got wedged in the tub (sideways) like a cork. It took four firefighters to pull her out . (That is because she fell into a sitting position sideways in a deep old claw foot tub, 18 inches deep and 18 inches wide, and they were worried that if she had a broken hip or leg and they were not careful they could cause more damage. So four firefighters and a strap lift up to the stretcher). She thought her knees and hip were broken, but fortunately they were just bruised and one may be hyper-extended but no torn ligaments no broken bones. So she has to we

Had to put my 15 year old dog to sleep this week. She had a stroke and it was the right thing to do. Going to check on adopting a 'replacement' from a rescue group today. They contacted us concerning a "Sheep Rottie" ( I think they meant shepherd rottwieler ) that was being fostered but the foster family said they could not keep him. Here is the new pup Not really sure what he is. The previous foster kept him crated and he seems to be lacking in doggie social skills (never got a chance to develop them). He hides a lot and so far has not made any attempts to play with the others. But given t

Real time clock is in the BIOS. But I get what you are trying to do, you want to spoof the date on a file so that it appears you have had it longer than you did. In some cases, like word documents, a metadata file component records all changes so that an expert could see what had happened. Date created and modified, well that is just pish tosh.

http://reviews.cnet.com/best-laptops/ Given your requirements, I would be looking for something with an Intel SandyBridge (if possible but not a deal breaker) ,dedicated graphics card, and lots of RAM. A little more than what you wanted to spend but this looks very nice http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/hp-envy-17/4505-3121_7-34112582.html?tag=rnav and a cheaper model http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/computer_series.do?storeName=computer_store&category=notebooks&series_name=ENVY17_series&aoid=11232&srccode=cii_5766179&cpncode=00-11020295-2 (note they have a dual dr

With moving the date for fall back forward into november and the spring foward earlier in march it hardly seems worth the effort to keep changing clocks. At least this is over for nine months or so.

Okay, you need to stop the WMI service and then rename a specific repository file to old so it gets rebuilt. Two ways. Go to start / run and type services.msc and hit enter Locate Windows Management Instrumentation service Select it and double click to open its interface and click stop service Go to tools => folder options => view Select show hidden and system files Uncheck hide known file extensions Uncheck hide protected files Apply Locate the folder Windows\System32\wbem Using windows explorer Locate the folder inside named "Repository" right click it and choose Rename Rename it Repos

I would think that after the first quake people would have gone all California and secured things like computers, tvs, shelving. Hell , we don't have real quakes in Texas and I still have the shelving in my pantry bolted to the walls. (And my computer is secured in a shelving unit that is also secured, and the TV in an entertainment center screwed to the wall. ) Maybe I just fear having things fall on me.

I can just imagine the damage caused by liquefaction. Not just houses being damaged, but all the infrastructure. Roads , water and sewer lines, electric poles all would have to be replaced and not just patched. Unlike having a few breaks along fault lines and a need to repair them, you would have whole stretches with not so obvious strain where underlying support has collapsed and the lines sunk which would result in continued failure. Just think of the danger if they re established pressure in the gas lines because they tested okay , but the main would have sunk a different amount than feed

How does one ban an IP address?
Pete_C replied to BVS1970's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
No, wardriving generally is just roaming around looking for unprotected networks; or in the extreme for those who use the old less than secure WEP instead of modern WPA and WPA2 standards. -

Look carefully , it is office Access Runtime and system driver (database connectivity). http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=d9ae78d9-9dc6-4b38-9fa6-2c745a175aed&displaylang=en The Microsoft Office Access 2007 Runtime enables you to distribute Access 2007 applications to users who do not have the full version of Access 2007 installed on their computers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Access Microsoft offers a runtime version of Microsoft Access 2007 for download. How does one ban an IP address?

Okay, remember how I said a webmaster could put a hidden script on a page to check and see what your real IP address was if you go to a site through a proxy, and load it into the cookie for that site and then upload the cookie to them? Well a malicious webmaster or hacker could put a similar script hidden on a malicious web page, and it will try to login to your router admin control panel using the standard admin name and passwords for standard models. It can spew threw them all in a fraction of a second. If you do not change the admin name and password it is fairly simple for them to have f -

Need help with web cam and wireless camera

You just walk your dog twice a week? God I pity your dog. I take my youngest three for a three mile run every morning (yes , three dogs total of about 280 Lbs all at once) and then come back and take the youngest dog and the two oldest for a leisurely half mile stroll; Every day, rain or shine (well I did walk instead of run and cut the distances in half on the days that we had sleet and ice, but then I stayed home and played with them all day). Also here in Dallas, it is illegal to put your dog on a chain unless you are physically present with visual contact with the dog (IE you can put yo -
How does one ban an IP address?
Pete_C replied to BVS1970's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Basically yes; The whole having more users than IP addresses was more a deal of the dial up networking days when not everyone was connected at any given time. If they figured that they never had more than half the customers connected, they could just lease half as many IP addresses as they had customers and assign you a different one each time you connected. But today most people have broadband that they leave always connected (always on) with the modem connected to the cable or phone line and powered up and a router set to maintain the connection. Thus they no longer have as much leeway . -
New Zealand Mussels (in shell) , cooked with wine , chopped garlic, chopped onion, and herbs de provence and served on angel hair pasta. Not quite Pasta ala vongolo but definitely good and tasty. Serve with a couple slices of crusty bread to soak up the excess juice. Edit for a new day, went by the store and they had 20oz frozen pizzas half pepperoni half extra cheese for 2 for $3. So I guess we will have store bought pizza . Might jazz it up a bit with some mushrooms, ham, onions etc or maybe just go for em as they are. Really for a buck fifty a pizza you can't beat it. Besides which, w

This week the specials were White Mushrooms for 58cents for an 8oz pack , milk for 99 cents a gallon, and boneless skinless chicken breasts for 99 cents a pound. Made home made cream of mushroom soup two ways (used egg slicer to make uniform slices and left half that way and then used the stick blender to chop up the rest for a slightly different texture) and grilled chicken breasts to go with it (had a cup with diced grilled chicken added). Made extra grilled chicken for the next day. Next day I made chefs salads (romaine, iceberg, cucumbers, onions, tomatoes, grilled chicken, cheese) with t

What low memory issue? What specifically does it say? Have you emptied recycle bin, run disk cleanup and defrag? How much RAM ? How much video card memory? How large a swap file (Virtual memory) , and is it set to let windows manage or to a set size? -
Need help with web cam and wireless camera
Pete_C replied to Priest's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
If your router has removable antenna you could try using directional antenna or high gain amplified antenna as a replacement. As for the camera, well you could try putting an aluminum foil surface behind it (curved in such a way as to focus on the camera and aimed at the router) to try to improve reception. You could get a wireless repeater , or second router set as a bridge and place this nearer the camera. By far the simplest solution would be to move things around move the cameras, move the router, and try different setups until you get the best signal possible. -
How does one ban an IP address?

http://www.whatismyip.com/ Many sites to check your current IP. Most ISPs do change your IP periodically even if you have an "always on " connection like DSL or Cable Broadband. Sometimes, disconnecting your modem, waiting five minutes and reconnecting will give you a new IP, but more often than not they will identify your modem by its MAC address and then assign it the same IP it had before. They give dynamic IPs for two major reasons. One is that they can then charge extra for giving you a static IP which they guaranty will remain the same. The other is that by occasionally changing your IP -
Good to hear you are okay Marty, I dropped you an email I figured it was probably the devastation of the infrastructure (no power or internet) that was keeping you from posting earlier. This is interesting, they have a project (similar to Folding @ Home and Seti@Home) which uses the shock/motion sensors in some laptops to detect earthquakes. http://www.wbur.org/npr/126073353/your-laptop-could-detect-the-next-earthquake This sounds promising, enough people and they will get more data on quakes. They also can utilize servers since most hard drives they use have accelerometers built in. http://ww
