  1. Dang folks... I have used nothing but freeware for three years. Avast has to be the best free AV out there...... Of course, SpywareBlaster, SpyBotS&D, AdAware, and IESpyad for the few times I'm forced to use it. Asquared is a good scan to have on hand for your monthly security checks. I know your're all gonna hate me, but I have *NEVER* had a "bug" that these programs didn't identify and remove or stop. My biggest scare was when Avast tagged <cough> Panda's on-line scanner as a trojan. Yep, it was for sure a tag that sent info back to Panda, ""for the interest of our customers"" The

    Stumper...

Chappy, I get it just occasionally, along with a real slow connect sometimes. Or even unable to click a page in a thread. I just move along to my other forums only to return to it being fine. I didn't know anyone else was getting it, I just thought some updating was going on at the server or forum itself.
  3. OMG! I hate Yahoo's home page. There is so much clutter and flash I just wanna scream when I open it to look at my junk mail account. Googles homepage gives me the same thing without the mess. Web Images Groups News Froogle LocalNew! more » What more do I need? There is nothing *shouting* at me, "click here". Generaly I open a forum from bookmarks first thing anyway, and my real mail accounts.
  4. I'm with JDoors..... Doesn't the vendor need a profit? He's the one paying for the realestate, taxes, employees and their comp and liability insurance, EPA inspections and regulations, maintainence on the building, utilities..... etc forever. In fact he pays for the delivery of said fuel, and the last independent carriers' bill I saw to our express mail facility had a 15% fuel surcharge added. The taxes in our state go for highway maintainence and is sadly lacking without federal funds added. Ever think about how much it costs a northern state just for snow removal? Also think about the R&
  5. Why TT75? Because you couldn't follow the rules, or cause you never met a woman that gave you all that? Living with someone you love has trade offs, he gave up his bar buddies, and she gave him everything else. What's wrong with that?
  6. Ooohhh jeesch! Hahahahahha!
  7. I have to say. Thank God for "good" neighbors. No, *GREAT* neighbors. My 80 years young Mom hired a handyman to fix a window and few other things around her house. Almost two years later he's still there and she's fit to be tied. Although many needed things got done around the house, many other things weren't quit right. Like he somehow managed to ruin two cars. Her pantry, cupboards and fridge were all but empty. (she "always" had tons of food around, a depression era thing) And when I arrived last Tuesday, all she had was $5 to her name until SS check came in. Believe me, she always had a $

    Snows A Coming

Snow? Where? Are we gonna skip fall like we did spring here in SW Mich? Tuesday: Partly cloudy. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible. High 87F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph. Tuesday night: Partly cloudy. Low around 65F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Wednesday: Intervals of clouds and sunshine. Very warm. High around 85F. Winds S at 10 to 20 mph. Wednesday night: Isolated thunderstorms in the evening with a few showers possible overnight. Low 57F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30%.
  9. It's a date folks. Grand Rapids for a great visit and 3D movie. Jeesch, the last time I saw one most of you were sparkles in your pappa's eyes. I even remember 3D comic books. Heh heh.... Now for a random thought.................. Do I carve "jack 'O lanterns" this year, or just take them out to the 40 and blow them up target practicing, leaving them in pieces for the deer?
  10. Helloooo cafe goers. I missed y'all. Sorry I dropped out for a few days. I had to tend to some business for my 80 years young mom. But now that I'm back I'm gonna bake up some zuchinni walnut bread for everyone. So pour the coffee, break out the butter and cream cheese. It's hot outta the oven.
  11. I've had Vonage since September 04. I love it! My land line was $32 a month for just a basic service. (no long distance) If I called long distance, they not only hit me with the 10 cents a min. charge, but $5 extra for the month. Vonage offers me 500 minutes any time, anywhere in the US and Canada for $17 a month. That includes voice mail, caller ID, call forwarding, and conference calls. (3 cents a min. overseas) I figure the money I saved by switching helps pay for my 3mg broadband service.
  12. Well, jeesch! Not only gasoline, but now natural gas? Up 71% for the heating season? What has natural gas have to do with oil wells and refineries? And 71%? We are getting raped folks, and the b4st4rds are putting sand in the vasaline.
  13. Ohh man, I need a couple cold ones. It's gonna be 85 here today! I mean WTF? It's October fer cryin' out loud. Got the air conditioner out and put away, outside windows washed. A two foot thick layer of rotten hay on the new (doubled) garden space. Now it's time for a beer by golly. Wonder what I'll feed Sweet Brit tonite.
  14. Life is always worth living. I too have a lot of debilitating pain. All I can say is find a good pain doctor, know that the people around you love you, and realise that everyday is a new and unique wonder. "yesterday's gone, and tomorrow don't count"
  15. Nice job, what kind of camera do you use? You captured some real nice shots. I like the format of Flickr.
  16. The arcade is still on hold for a bit. I'm sure Jeff said it was coming back. I have a few you can play with. Shirt City Mini putt golf Curve ball
  17. Mike, that's calling it "killing them with kindness". You know they have the most hapless job around and I'll bet they get s#it and flack even when they do a good job. To the ones that let it get to them.... get another job!
  18. Glad you made it ok Mikex and all the others. And yes, I you can afford even a small generator it's well worth it. (even if you don't hook it up to a transfer switch, you can run a few heavy duty extension cords to provide lights and a few other things.) Crock pot, coffee pot, radio, etc.
  19. Talk about the stupidity of the media... Picture published of Katrina victim with Red Cross debit card.
  20. Great sounding plans.. rough work restoring a house. It'd be nice if you had some help. Maybe a room mate is in your future?
  21. Man, when I was a kid, my mom would have smacked me up side the head if I dare threw trash on the ground. Here's another [rant] The DNR maintains a boat launch and dock on a lake created by a dam on the Kalamazoo river. With parking for over a dozen trailers. The fishing is wonderful there, no houses or private docks. So no crazy jet ski traffic and speed boats. Nice huh? Well duh0, there's an outhouse for... you know. But no trash can, no picnic tables, and no bar-b-q. That means there are open fires started along the banks, bottles, cans, condom wrappers, and other garbage everywhere. Do th
  22. There *is* an easy way to remove carpet. (cleaning up afterward not withstanding) Get your stanley knife out and cut the room sized piece into about 2 foot wide strips, roll them up and tie or tape the roll. This makes for a reasonable sized and weighted bundle that's easy to manuver out of the house. Ooohhh yeah! hard wood.... Sure wish I had it... We're seriously considering it in the near future. I would be in heaven with the living area done up nice and shiney.
  23. Normal? What is normal? Who's normal, who's not? How do you judge? Who judges? Dang, I'm confuzzled.
  24. Shhhhh, folks. This is the fixin's for the party. Main Course Pan-Fried Porterhouse Steaks with Lynchburg Pan Sauce If the weather is lousy outside, then pan-frying a thick porterhouse steak right in the kitchen is a great way to go. The key to success is a big cast-iron skillet. It'll cause a good bit of smoke in the kitchen, but it's worth it. Let the cooked steaks rest on a board while you make the special Lynchburg pan sauce. 2 porterhouse steaks (1 to 1 1/4 pounds each), cut 1 to 1 1/4 inches thick Salt and pepper 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 2 tablespoons butter o
