Congratulations on the soon to be addition to the family! My prayer is for a healthy baby and for Momma's health too. Well Daddy, I guess I had better add you in too, since you will be doing all the encouragement and runs to the store for your wife's special food cravings. That is once she is past the morning sicknesss routine. God bless everyone.

Norton Updates For 2004 Turning Things Off
thesidekickcat replied to thesidekickcat's topic in Security Alerts
Pete has given an answer as to why this may be happening, on a thread I was involved in helping someone with the problem. "Pete_C Polymath Posts: 9673 Joined: May 2004 Sunday November 14, 2004 1:17 PM (NEW!) This is so long I figured someone had already answered it. I have seen this several times (where suddenly it appears that autoprotect is not on and will not enable, but a scan shows clean) In most cases, it is caused by something jamming the loadup during windows boot, and if you go make a cup of coffee and come back you suddenly find norton is loaded. I am almost certain it i -
I Googled for XP + Wordpad and came up with this message board thread. Maybe it will help you. I have Windows 2000, and it was Notepad that gave me trouble for awhile. Finally did a search for it and found it. Wierd, how things just disappear. Fixing Wordpad Go back to the Dr to tell him about worsening eye trouble. You know with Diabetes that is one thing to closely watch. Heart, eyes, and feet are all things to especially take care of with Diabetes. I should talk, I need to go in and get glasses with eyes worsening it seems by the month. And I don't even have Diabetes, though Dad did. I j

I found out that I am not the only one with a certain screen name. I didn't feel safe checking out the other one's listings. Yikes! Believe me folks, that other one is not me!!!! God bless everyone.

Norton Updates For 2004 Turning Things Off
thesidekickcat replied to thesidekickcat's topic in Security Alerts
I am bumping this thread up again, due to Norton problems starting back up after being ok/normal for a couple of weeks. I had two antivirus updates on Wed, for some reason they were split up with one at 263.9KB and one at 17KB. And on Thurs there was an Intrusion Detection signature update. Didn't have any problem for a couple of reboots with things getting turned off. But since then have had email scanning turned off when I turn computer back on, but a reboot fixes it. Also had another antivirus update later in day on the 11th of 75KB. It didn't solve the turn off problem. There was a thread -
Welcome to all newcomers. I think you will like this peaceful place. By the way speaking of TTV people, has anyone heard where Carole from the old boards went? I can't remember her official title. We could always take our board ideas and bug problems to her. She was so nice to all of us. I was hoping to see her find a home board to post on with us. God bless everyone.

I am so worried about her!!! I haven't heard anything since she sent a PM on Leoville on Sept 20th, while we were on vacation. Anyhow she said she was in the hospital. I know she has been seriously ill for a long time, so I worry about what happened to her. She has not read my PM's to her, as I have them tagged to send me a read message. She may have been on G4 on the 25th of Sept, according to their board dating activity. Someone on a similar thread to this on Leoville, said they heard the same as I did, only on the 24th of Sept. Cris/Chinawht PM us or post somewhere, so we know how you are

There is a long thread over at Leoville, in the only area where G4 can even be discussed, about both TSS and Marty's show. I never liked the latter. But had hoped that TSS would be kept to preserve some tech in G4, though I figured G4 was only buying the real estate for their junk, so didn't expect them to keep much of anything from TTV. Though I did think Marty's show "fit" their immature audience target. So that was a surprise. I feel bad for all those who moved to LA thinking they were safe with job. Anyhow here is a link to that thread, which supposedly has some info that was cut from some

WhooHooo!!! Yippie!!! Yeaaa!!! Sure am glad you got it fixed. I hope you wrote it all down so you will have it if you ever need to redo it someday. Or to help someone else with the same problem down the road. So now you have that fixed, when are heading down to Fl was it? Lucky Sunbirds!!! Travel safe and enjoy the sunny warm weather while the rest of us shiver and shake in our boots, and overcoats, carrying our umbrellas ever on the ready for more rain. Or heaven forbid a repeat of last year's snow and ice storm. God bless everyone.

Help Me Learn To Make Links
thesidekickcat replied to flashh4's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Hello Flash, Ok, you are in the process of writing a post. After you have gone to the site you want to link to and right clicked the url in the address bar for that site and then chosen copy in the drop down box. Then you click on the http:// grey box above your post. It will open a little line to add your url by right clicking and choosing paste to enter it in. (On some boards you will need to erase/backspace the written in http thing that is already there as it will duplicate the one you paste in, I just do that anyhow by habit). Then another line comes up. Add a short text to describe the -

I am so sorry that you haven't been able to find the right combination of settings to get it to work the way you want. You mentioned you changed a setting to get e mail to work. Could that have been the factor that changed in IE working versus not when/how you wanted? Though I can't see why it would make a difference. How about calling Direct Way, did that produce any help? You say though it worked on Direct Way with the cable to it in, but didn't on Wifi without the cable? So could the settings for your Wifi be the culprit (I don't even know if Wifi has settings oh my!)? I am guessing here t

And I thought my mother was the only one! Seriously, I have only tasted one good fruit cake in my 60 years, and it came from Texas. I can't remember where. A friend's kid was selling them for his Seventh Day Adventist school. I only ordered it to help the kid out. But when it arrived, I wished I had ordered more. Sigh! I can't believe I said that. Confession: We like liver and onions. My hubby likes mincemeat pie. And I, for some odd reason, started to like Dr Pepper a couple of years ago. But I never will be able to stand Root Beer, even if my hubby does like it. What is next on the never

Happy Birthday Shadow!!! May you be blessed to have many more years, all of them filled with good health (no back trouble especially!), wealth, and happiness. By the way I think that music note is the best yet. Let the band play on!!! God bless everyone.

I don't know if that thread has links that are trouble or not. I do know that it is good to trust your gut feeling about something, and if your antivirus or something else also warns you about it too, then it is good to be wary!!! It is not that an important thing to go to any suspicious site like that, in the long range scheme of things. We all need to be Internet Smart, just as we have learned in the recent decades to be street smart to protect ourselves!!! It is after all most important to stay safe!!! Thanks for the warning about the site. I appreciate you being so caring of our safety.

I heard awhile back on G4 that some things on download.com are now giving people trouble with I think virus trouble if I remember right. It has been a few months ??? since I saw that, but several people reported on it. Just thought I would bring it up just in case, as a warning. I don't know if Jet Audio does what you want. Might check them out. There's a free version and paid one. Seems to do alot. Jet Audio P.S. I found the sticky note I made of the Download.com warning on G4. It says somethings are fake whatever that means, (besides the fact that I should take better notes), and that some

I am fed up with the potty mouthed kids over there. No respect for anyone, not even themselves to talk like they live in the gutter. They even make their thread titles filthy. I go over there if nothing going on here or at Leoville, and then only stay a little while as it seems to be getting worse from visit to visit. I think they are trying to drive people away, at least the old time TTV board people. Looked like Pete was trying to have fun on the halloween thread, so some off topic stuff is still allowed I guess, at least by him. If they do away with the family feeling there, and don't allo

Wow!!! Thanks for all the great encouragement. You all are wonderful!!! tenmm, that is a good idea for me to learn by doing stuff on an older machine. Though I don't know what an ATX system is? I have been thinking of picking up a second hand computer at Goodwill or some other place to try this but sort of wondered if it was a dumb idea until now. Hadn't thought of a computer store for one. Would I need to have the original Windows disks to go with whatever I get? We have done a clean install, unexpectedly had to early on with this computer, as we tried to set up a user account then the admi

We have had our computer nearly 3 years too. Intel gave all their employees computers, and even though I had never wanted one before, I figured the Lord gave us one so I might as well learn it. Was scared to even turn it on at first. Had to relearn how to type after not doing it for over 35 years. (Typing programs on the computer are alot easier than the standup easel thing I used to teach myself the first time around.) So I have come along way from where I was, but still along ways to go, and with my usual kicking and screaming "no I don't want to do that" every step of the way with this thin

You broke it, you fix it What do you all think of this? As a real klutz at anything mechanical I don't particularly want to fix things. My hubby is the mechanical one of the family, though I use the computer 95% of the time. I think they would have to make things alot easier to get to, and have the parts be easier to remove and replace, and to see how to fit them in place, for me to feel confident that I could do it. But then I bet most of the geeks on the boards feel it is a piece of cake. God bless everyone.
