  1. I do not like to see racist language!!! This is BestTechie's board, and we are family here, and as such do not want anyone treated to this kind of garbage. Leave the G$ attitudes over there, don't bring them to this great board. In fact just quit saying such garbage entirely. I had to say something against that hideous remark, couldn't let it's ugliness stand with no comment against it. Pat. God bless everyone.
  2. Thanks for posting President Reagan's homilies. Wiser man than anyone gave him credit for. I had seen some of them before, but some were new to me. I need to come back later today and copy them for a friend. It is to late tonight to do it, need to get to bed soon before I fall asleep on keyboard. Pat. God bless everyone.
  3. I found this an interesting commentary a few months ago on possible future of Google as it takes on ever more and more things. John Leo of U.S. News "Googling the Furture" Sure hope that doesn't happen. Pat. God bless everyone.
  4. Hahaha! that's funny. What was wrong with them? I lost my cukes this year to some kinda something that made the plants just wilt and die, just as they were beginning to produce. Seems all the cukes in this area are "tough" this year, not crisp and crunchy. Yes I cage my plants with 6"x6" reinforcing wire from the concrete company. They sell it in 5'x10' sections. that makes a cage 5' tall and about 3-4' across. You can plant 6 tomato plants in it. I have only two Better Boy plants this year and I've been picking 3 to 6 a day now for 2 weeks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Those zucchini were the
  5. I think you and TT75 are right, I bet he doesn't like what G$ boards turned into. Plus having computer trouble, plus being in love. Oh my what alot of stress!!!! Well at least one of those is good, the new love interest. Anyhow I went over there, signed in, got sidetracked by a PM, and a nice thread I wouldn't have seen if I hadn't gone over to look for Marsh, and hadn't gotten a PM about it from Sultan. But after answering those, then went to Marsh's thread, and put in my little post with link to here for Marsh. So with the others answering him and my link, if he gets back to that thread then
  6. Welcome Karen, I also am a Christian, a Survivor of childhood and early adult abuse, 61, married to a great second hubby for 35 years as of next month, no kids, only started with the computer three years ago, also neck and back problems from a long ago car accident. So we share some common ground it seems. I hope you get back to feeling ok with your back. Be sure to have a good chair at computer, and brace back with pillows. I have a nice fitting plastic patio chair, with a Target cheap pillow behind my back and that works fine. In fact when I'm hurting pretty bad I come in here as it is so
  7. I am so glad you gave me some new ideas, though have used a few on your list over the years. My favorite to do is #12, ask for their home phone # to call them back when I get back from choose one (or more) hospital, morgue, jail, lawyers, debt collection agency (that's always good for a laugh if only on my part!), funeral, bankruptcy court hearing, etc. Whatever comes to mind. Also #2 works nicely too, combined with telling them it took alot of energy to get up and answer phone, then talk to them while you pretend to get back to your chair, tell them why you hurt so bad, about bad doctors, in
  8. Those are so cute!!! Out of the mouths of babes, some funny interpretations of our world comes. I loved the Flight To Egypt plane and passengers, now that was creative thinking!!! Pat. God bless everyone.
  9. Happy Birthday 12lostcause12, May you be blessed with a long life filled with good health, happiness, and prosperity. Pat. God bless everyone.
  10. I used to enjoy reading posts by Wayne from Leoville on the previous version of Leoville. But when the new Leoville started up alot of people there seemed to change even more than the previous shakeup weirdness time. Anyhow I went over there for an hour or so yesterday (first time this summer I think) to answer my PMs, and lurk abit to see what was going on. Wayne has a new avatar that brags about the Akron Ohio event in May??? that Leo visited Akron for some reason which I've forgotten if I ever knew in first place. Anyhow W arranged a big get together for a bunch of LeoVillagers to meet Leo
  11. I think not including the os full cd is a sleazy way to cut corners. Possibly a handshake deal between the manufacturers and Microsoft to get more money out of people. I hate to say it, but this is one time I think there should be a law requiring every computer to come with ALL the cds needed to do a clean install if necessary. In defense of the op, I just recently (last few months) learned about this no os cd problem for other people, though my 3 and a half year old HP came with all it's cds. And I have been watching computer ads in Sunday papers, also looked at computers for sale in stores a
  12. I said it was a Subaru (1990) Justy with a small 9 gallon tank. And hubby said it needed almost 8 gallons. Luckily it get's very good mileage, about 35 mpg, since he drives about 60 miles roundtrip back and forth to work. I sure hope the car keeps on working ok, in spite of it's various problems which aren't worth the tons of money needed to fix them. I wonder how this economy is going to survive with the high cost of fuel increasing the cost of products in every area pretty soon? As if it didn't already have enough trouble with fed tightning money supply. Pat. God bless everyone.
  13. Thanks for the links folks. Here is another one for you. I've found some really easy for me to understand stuff here, even has step by step screen shots. (That's good for scaridy cats like me.) Windows Reinstall and other good info Pat. God bless everyone.
  14. I hope everyone comes out of it ok. You folks down there are in my prayers. Pat. God bless everyone.
  15. Ah Marty, I love happy endings like that. Pat. God bless everyone.
  16. I think you might have been trying to sneak it on by us??? Good for Mac catching it on calendar. I ought to check that thing once in awhile too. Happy Birthday belatedly my friend. May you be blessed with a long life filled with good health, happiness, and prosperity. Pat. God bless everyone.
  17. Hello everyone, I'll just sip my Dr Pepper, thank you kindly for it, while I gab and read tonight. Had bacon/egg/tomato/onion sandwiches tonight. YUMMMY!!! Finally the tomatoes are ripening up enough to bring in a few. (First ones I picked I ate straight off the vine right outside...shhhh! Don't tell hubby!!!) Hot here for a couple of days, lost the recent nice 70's temps. Now getting a bit of heat from south and east instead of from west off ocean. Ugg.! Didn't put air conditioner on today though maybe should have as it hit 92 here. Have been having nighttime temps in low 50's, but not so nic
  18. That would be Please Liz, make me whatever. Don't forget your manners youngun. Now since she may have headed off to bed, (me too in a few minutes), I will play the mommy part for her and tell you coffee is bad for a youngster (though I have been drinking it since I was 12), and besides it is a bad idea late at night to rev up with caffeine...you'll never get to sleep. You only do that on study cram sessions for tests the next day. Now that we have the mother hen stuff out of the way, I will wish you a good night. Pat. God bless everyone.
  19. My hubby is dyslexic, and has a big problem with which is right or left. Our chiropractor was always telling him your other right when he'd turn the wrong way. I just point, less arguments that way. But he is great at knowing what direction something is in a big building campus like Intel....and that is a big plus for doing maintenance repair, or telling others even troubleshooting by phone, where to go. He also does it at malls, though we still managed to 'lose' the car one Christmas shopping session, by me getting us out the wrong door. Ha! But usually he is the one that keeps us going i
  20. I can't believe they kept that fight up all night. I knew that that Wayne from Leoville would be a trouble maker when I first saw him at G$. He sure has proved it. I also have a problem with MissFae abusing that poor cat all the time making him do her dirty work of swatting people. Oh well, that place is such a disaster, I'm surprised more people don't leave. Though I guess it is like watching a bad accident on the freeway, hard to avert your eyes. Pat. God bless everyone.
  21. Hubby stopped for gas tonight, came home and growled "finally took a twenty to fill the tank" Our Subaru Justy has small tank about 9 gals total and he put in almost 8 gals at $2.65 a gallon. And still aways to go to get past the labor day weekend normal gouging raise in gas prices. Yikes. And our Motorhome vacation time coming up in Sept and Oct. Sure hope it comes down a bit by then. Pat. God bless everyone
  22. Cheer up Marty, and as Liz said Have some Chocolate! That always seems to help me! I'm sorry you aren't having a good week. It will get better, and maybe just knowing we care about you will sweeten it up a bit. Here is a big hug from all of us. Seems like things just have to go wacky ever so often for no reason on earth. Been having it happen all summer (year)!!! Things get better than whamo stuff goes again for no particular reason, other than Murphy's law I guess. For instance since I've been on board today, I couldn't type right at all and kept having to redo it. Finally I just now loo
  23. I've never been too impressed with that wikipedia site, and the whole premise of it anyhow. And if things can be voted out like this, than who needs such an arrogant bunch of elite snobs!!! They are for rejecting us. Their loss is our gain, as we know what a great site this is at our beloved Besttechie's!!! On a higher note, now I will go back to my more important reading here at Besttechie's board, catching up on recent posts. Pat. God Bless everyone.
  24. I just Googled your LCD model, and here is the first page for you. Sceptre Here is the more important Support page, for you to check out. Sceptre Support Site Phone # listed on first page is 1.800.788.2878 if needed. Maybe that support page will help you get it figured out. I should have thought of Google earlier. Oooops! Pat. God bless everyone.
  25. I've heard that resolution settings are quite specific, and high, for LCDs compared to CRTs too. So check that. And color/brightness/contrast to make sure that nothing was set to an extremely dark setting. But I really think that someone gave it to you as his disposal solution for a dead horse. I hope I'm wrong. Talk to the friend and see if he 'fesses up'. Pat. God bless everyone.
