  1. Just in case there is a office update that fixes it, check with Microsoft updates for Office 2003 updates, before reinstalling it. Also check your Norton settings to make sure email settings ok. I hope you get it fixed. And turn Norton back on before something hits you, and get today's latest huge Norton antivirus updates! Lots of bad stuff out there waiting to get onto unprotected systems. BTW, you don't have the XP firewall on along with Norton firewall do you? As I understand it, they do not coexist happily. So one or the other, I'd go with Norton myself. P.S. Do you have a spam filter tha
  2. I don't know if this is the right way to address the abbreviation of the plural of a PM, or not. But I write it as PMs, to try to differentiate from pms (a woman's monthly misery). So far it has worked, as I haven't been picked on about it yet, and I had better not be because I can still turn on the tears and be a grouch!!! I am sorry people are teasing you about your perfectly good question, which by the way thanks for asking as I wanted to know how to do that too. Take care friend, and don't let anyone get your goat....ooops, but had to tease just a little. I did see you now have a goat. Gr
  3. Oh my Liz, I don't know whether to laugh, or cry (for man's family when they find out who he was with), or both. Your poor daughter having to deal with all that mess. Sounds like she did a good job, hopefully manager will be impressed and enough so to give her a raise. Thankfully the "lady" turned it in and didn't leave her "friend" for the maid to find the next day. Oh yeah, small town, yep there will be lots of 'stories' till the next thing hits. I'm with Mac, I would have said the same thing as daughter did the next day. But then everyone around here knows my odd ball sense of humor.
  4. Well looking a gift horse in the mouth doesn't seem to work...sorry!...the flashlight made think of that one. Anyhow did the monitor work before your friend gave it to you? Did you see it working there??? Or was he just dumping a dead horse onto you? I hope not though. Does it have any special driver that Windows needs, that plug and pray (oops sorry again)? Maybe plug and play isn't recognizing the monitor for some reason? And since I am a noobie, and don't know more than to ask questions (and no I'm not usually a smart aleck...sorry about that part), I will just leave now with best wishes to
  5. I am so sorry that you are having such scary problems. Have they done some scans, cat scan, mri, etc? A friend was having momentary blackouts (non-drinker!) a few years ago, and they did scans, and found that it was TIAs. So they put her on medication to help prevent them. I'm afraid I don't know just what the meds were though. Is your blood pressure way up there, all the time, or when even just these episodes happen? If all the time, then try eating 4 to 5 stalks of celery a day to reduce the blood pressure. Hubby and I have been doing that for several months, and both of us are down to near
  6. Happy Birthday. May you be blessed with a long life filled with good health, happiness, and prosperity. God bless everyone.
  7. I Love that quote!!! Now that should be posted everywhere, in all government handout offices especially.!!! I'd better not say more, or will really be here all night writing the post. Thanks bozodog for the quote, gives me hope that there are those in this country that are waking up to what is happening to our society. Pat. God bless everyone.
  8. I wonder about Gmail privacy and other Google privacy issues too, (and for other search engines too.) They have recently updated their toolbar, and the new tool usage info, plus privacy policy is recommended reading. In fact I think the 'about' on whatever a site you go to, and the privacy policies, also the license agreements to whatever you 'buy' (lease) and install should be must reads for everyone. Though some of those things are often hard to find, or read and understand, it is important to know ahead of time what you are getting into. Not much we can do to stay private nowadays, but a
  9. Mac you are such a sweetheart! I'd forgotten that one. Pat. God bless everyone.
  10. I love the board for it's people, it's serenity, it's fun. Thank You Beluga (remembering your old screen name at TTV and G4) for starting up your own boards for all of us. We love them! Happy Anniversary to the boards. Pat. God bless everyone.
  11. Probably my fault for bumping the thread up, off of page 4 or 5 or so, today. Sorry about that. But I wanted the members that hadn't seen it to get a chance to read it. I sort of figured it was going to be allowed since a couple of others were. Sigh. G$ still doesn't get it that communication is where their biggest problem is, and then they try to stomp out anyone that does try to communicate. Sigh. Pat. God bless everyone.
  12. I hope by replying again that I can clarify what I meant earlier. I edited my previous post to elaborate on what I meant. To save everyone from looking for it, I will quote it here. EDIT: I need to clarify this to explain what I meant about equating PC language issues to Victim status. I believe that by saying this group or that has to be treated oh so carefully that we push/allow them to become Victims, instead of equals. (Though pretty soon everyone will be in some such special victim class due to the speed new ones are added.) I think it is extremely disrespectful and demeaning to treat pe
  13. Cherokeechief Sir, Welcome. Sure glad you joined all of us G$ refugees!!! I think you will find this is a lot nicer place to be. Lots of good people here, many are old TTVers. Pat. God bless everyone.
  14. I hate dealing with all the pc crowd telling me that I am some awful mean-spirited (oh how I HATE that term!!!), person if I don't know, or I forget, to treat someone with kid gloves because of their being such (PC listed) VICTIMS (past, present, and future and never expected to get over it or to get on with life because they are VICTIMS) of our society. EDIT: I need to clarify this to explain what I meant about equating PC language issues to Victim status. I believe that by saying this group or that has to be treated oh so carefully that we push/allow them to become Victims, instead of
  15. Congratulations on getting baptized. And good job getting so much done today!!! Pat. God bless everyone.
  16. I think the Google spell checker is only for IE, as Firefox has their own at least they do when it works I guess. I am so glad Google put one in new toolbar update for us IE folks, now to remember to use it. And I really need to brush up on grammar and punctuation too. I heard about this site, nationalpunctuationday, a few days ago. Some good info there, and in resource links. So back to doing homework at my age, one of these days. National Punctuation Day Pat. God bless everyone.
  17. Yes, a public apology from them, PLUS a THANK YOU to Both Chappy and Pete for their long service as mods and helpers, would go a long ways toward healing the board people over the whole mess G4 caused by not planning the changes with intent to fully inform the people of board name change and new show ahead of time. Oops! getting my dander up again. Ok, ok, I will try to simmer down, but this mess could have been prevented if they had done their jobs right or cared about the people. Sigh!!! Pat. God bless everyone.
  18. This is what Mikex, and I were talking about as an opening for your book!!! It just seems like a good 'catch the reader's interest' beginning. P.S. I just read where Amazon is now publishing short stories (up to 10, 000 words I think, and selling them online for 49 cents. I don't know the full details or how much the writer receives though.) Pat. God bless everyone.
  19. that reply freaks me out. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't worry, Mac is one of our resident eccentrics, he's a really nice one too. You'll get used to him and the rest of us. Also I like to think it gives us a touch of panache. How many boards do you know that have an endearing eccentric who runs the cafe while doing nuclear experiments in the basement in his spare time? Or who pipes in nitreous oxide to keep everyone happy? Things look different here...because they are!!! And we love it and everyone here! Pat. God bless everyone.
  20. Welcome folks. Yep this place (especially open chat!!!) is addicting, and everyone here is like a big family!!! That's why we all are so protective of it. So enjoy, and tell your friends about it. Pat. God bless everyone.
  21. I wonder what is going on upstairs over there?(oops wrong board for that term.) No one seems to know what to do to deal with what happened. What happened to that mod person not posting (as far as I can tell) your apology? A couple of good souls made up for it. I posted on one of their threads, with a sneaky little item added, all done with what little finesse I could . By the way, this is reunion weekend for the TTV and Tech Support Family to reunite and heal, and guess where it's at folks..... Letter From Chappy to G4 members P.S. Has anyone noticed Pete's new screen name over there? I h
  22. I love my Yuban, one to two pots a day. I don't care for "fancy" coffee shop coffee. . I think it is for people who normally don't like plain old fashioned good coffee! seems kind of like they put in all sorts of stuff, while doing odd machine stuff to it, to cover up the coffee taste so they can stand it. Ha! Just something I've noticed with some people doing it because it is the in thing to do. Yet around here, with a coffee shop of one kind or another on every block or so it seems, it is rather an ordinary (though expensive) thing rather than an elite special in crowd deal. As for water
  23. Hi everyone, Gee it's good to see Preston over here, along with so many others we knew elsewhere, and also the new people too. Liz, thanks for explaning that for me. I have seen that gobly gook over at G$ before but didn't know what it was or why anyone would talk like that. Actually thought it might be an offshoot of ebonics too. Gee I mangle the english language bad enough, without trying to do it on purpose. I second the idea about Mac using that as his opening for his book. Sounds great. Pat. God bless everyone.
  24. I agree with Liz, don't worry about it, you wanted reinforcements it seems to be your better self, you got it and agreed, now don't beat yourself up about talking about it. We all are kind of uptight it seems, but by the end of the weekend it should be talked out, we'll all be sick of the subject (and some of us are there already), and something interesting will get our attention off that place's sorry boring mess. So everyone hang in there, we'll come through it all just fine, and hopefully the ones who stayed over there will too, or they will move over here if they get sick of that place. So
  25. Welcome everyone. Sure nice to meet you folks and get to know you a bit. I'm glad you like Besttechie's, we all are sure fond of it. Best boards around I think. Pull up a chair at the cafe, grab a coffee and doughnut, and read and gab. Yep that works for all of us. Pat. God bless everyone.
