  1. I don't think there will be any more politics or religion here, his locked thread states that at the end (from BT) I for one, plan to let it die. It is good to be back, but I don't think I am going to be able to spend a lot of time here. My new job is going to be demanding for a while. BH hi BH, Actually we are in the process of starting a new section to the forum specifically designed for political and religious topics.
  2. You are fooling yourself. Posting blatently idealogical content in an open forum, you are bound to piss someone off. That is why you were censored. So here are the possibilities: 1) You were, and you just lied. 2) You are so dim, that you didn't realize what you were doing. (I have read your posts, and I don't think you are.) 3) You expected everyone here to agree, laugh, and move on. As pointed out, there are plenty of places on the net to post this kind of content. Bh OK, This is exactly why that image was removed, this is treading too close to flame war, so I am going to ask poli
  3. glad your sestem is all better. I will know close this topic as it is resolved, if you need it reopened, please contact myself or another moderator/admin to have it reopened.
  4. Hi Shaun, Sorry I wasn't on when you popped into chat lastnight, I was watching the Packers game. Download and install CleanUp! Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows: Click "Options..." Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!" Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!): Empty Recycle Bins Delete Cookies Delete Prefetch files Cleanup! All Users Click OK Press the CleanUp! button to start the program. It may ask you to reboot at the end, click YES. after reboot, let us know
  5. What model number is the current computer??? I thought you said in an earlier post it was a 5330 is this correct??? If it is then that PS isn't the correct one for that computer. that computer originally came with a 145W PS. so if you go any higher it might be too much for the mobo.
  6. get the parts whenever you can, its not like you would have to have it done by next week afterall. and if you do decide to sell the case, get a hold of me, if the price is right I might take it off your hands.
  7. since you have the case, you could always look at making yourself a new computer. then you have a second one if you need it for anything. or you could sell it for a little profit.
  8. your reading too much into what I said. also as stated before, soemtimes the mobo drivers need the chasis. if the mobo is riveted to the chasis, then it is integrated electrically to the chasis, which means your hard drive may not work in the new case requiring you to wipe the harddrive and start fresh or worse the mobo wont' work in another case at all. sometimes the mobo and chasis are integrated into the BIOS system, to prevent stolen computers from being parted out and used in other computers.
  9. not sure if you would have to flash the bios for a new 80gig hdd or not. there is a possibility that there is a screw on the riveted side of the case. see below for more info on that, or they have those lovely little plastic holding brackets in place, which means you have to locate how they are placed in order to remove the mobo. they drill out the rivets so they can access the left side. this way they can remove the mobo, replace it, then they put new rivets in place. which brings us to the fine print in the warranty section of their computers stating that you may get a refurbished compute
  10. for ma and pa kettle that only use the system for email, minor surfing, and banking your right. But based on what sixpacgenius uses his comp for it can degrade what he does on it. Another thing you need to take into consideration, most Corporate IT pros computers are hooked up to a server that has more power then your average ma and pa kettle's computer. so the IT pros won't see the degradation of the system. Most corporate computers I've ever worked on, don't even have a local security suite set up, The security is taken care of by the server they are connected too.
  11. in case you want a copy of your own, here it is. This is actually from the official Trans-Siberian Orchestra Website.
  12. hi bearskin, just a FYI, currently all new tips and tricks for windows will be based on WINXP. There are a couple of reasons for this. first, approximately 85%-95% of all computers are running either Windows 2k or XP second, no one is making tricks and tips for Windows 9x/me since they are now considered "outdated" and have reached their EOL through MS. In the next couple years or two you will only be seeing Windows tips and tricks for the new Windows Vista. adn as with Windows 9x/me, Windows XP will reach its EOL within a couple of years after that. Don't feel that we are singling out only th
  13. for teh most part as long as you are keeping the original HDD with the system it should recognize it. There is the possibility that you will have to flash the BIOS in order for it to recognize the higher capacity of the new HDD
  14. With windows 2k/XP resources now refer to ram and processor cycles. Unlike Windows 9x/me, Windows 2k/XP doesn't set aside memory for housekeeping chores.
  15. Hi mac, I wanted this topic at the top of the pinned topic list.
  16. Hi Shaun, just wanting to follow up after we talked in Chat, How is your boot time?? any problems???
  17. I can tell you with certainty that that is the "tube vault" That was the section of ENIAC3 where all the resistor tubes were connected to the main computer. This vault Air circulation system was held at a constant 34 degrees Farentheit. but with all the tubes running in there the temp still maintained approximately 75-85 degrees Farenheit.Of course when you take into consideration how much heat 19000 tubes can create, that pretty much would keep the heat up anywhere. Just an FYI
  18. Umm, I have a PIII 750Mhz, 256RAM, and run Windows '98SE (please send money). If McAfee were a resource hog my machine wouldn't run at all ('9x is extremely sensitive to available resources). hi Jdoors, one thing to take into consideration, 98SE doesn't use services like 2000/XP. so those files in the HJT log under O23 lines don't get installed. and thats where the resource hogging on 2k/xp machines happen.
  19. updated and installed mine, no problems
  20. yes it is, on average McAfee has 14 different files to run at startup, 6 different services running at all times. 3 browser helper objects, and 3 integrated browser buttons. below you will see from a common Hijack This log running Mcafee how much is really running to support this program. I have highlighted the Mcafee entries in the log for you to see. Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 11:57:14 AM, on 10/17/2005 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe
  21. here is the latest one I am using. Hopefully I will have time after christmas to actually make a new one.
  22. this is a prime example to get back at all those websites that say: Just use the logo and put: maybe then people will realize how crappy of a browser IE really is lmao.
  23. hiya BD, did you try clearing your cache? sometimes that can corrupt how certain things work.
  24. #24 I will not go poo on the floor when my human leaves just because they forgot to take me. /me goes and cleans up the calling card now
