hi sorry for the delayed response, had to do a little research on the fix for your particular infection. Please run Notepad and paste the following text into a new file: Save the file to the desktop as fix.reg and make sure the "Save as Type" field says "All Files". Then please go to the desktop and double-click on fix.reg, and click Yes to merge it with the registry. Next post a fresh Hijack this adn we will clean up whats left over

hi welcome to besttechie, I'm looking at your log and its a clean log, Kudos for that. Avg does scan for viruses on downloads, if it didn't pick it up at the time of download, then the virus didnt' come from a download. It appears you are using the windows firewall rather then a 3rd party softaware firewall. Windows firewall will not stop stuff from entering your comptuer as well as a third party one will. so that may be how it got in to your system. if you are still having problems with this situation, please do the following. open start hijack this, click on the Misc. tools button and then

sorry saw your request after I did he kill and new distro install.

actually i am downloading Ubuntu tonight, after i updated SuSE the other day, my cd Drive now opens up whenever it wants to, sometimes it happens when I click a link in the forums or click an app on the desktop, other times I don't have to click on anythign and it does it. I can't get a support ticket on it, becasue SuSE doesn't do support tickets unless you are using their paid for version. so its either live with it or find a different distro. Besides I have ordered the disks for Ubuntu soem time ago, now I'm waiting for them to arrive, which hopefully will be soon.

the problem is that it is a good printer, and works well in Windows, If I can't get it to work in Linux, then I will strictly do my printing from Windows. I got the printer for free, brand new still in its box. of course that was before I decided to dual boot with Linux, lol.

i need some serious help here. I have a Lexmark z25 printer, i downloaded the latest Linux driver for it but I can't get it to install or configure for my printer. I'm on SUSE 9.1 personal and have already unzipped the file as instructed, but the directions I got from lexmark aren't working. and I don't know much about doing anything in the root.

well yesterday I just installed SUSE 9.1, the install went very simple. and it supports most of my stuff, the only thing I can't get working at the moment is my Lexmark printer. I'm on a dual boot with two HDD's, and it also allows file swapping with Windows XP fairly easily, have yet to try an use WINE or similar on it. but IMO SUSE is a good program for newbies to get their feet wet with Linux. too bad they are a subsidiary of Novell Now lol

To clean some of it out already, please download Spybot: Search and Destroy from http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=download . Check for Updates first, download ALL Updates and Do a Scan. When finished, make sure ALL RED items have been ticked, and click the "Fix Selected Problems" Button. I'd Also Recommend you Download AdAware, Another good Antispyware Program From http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/ . Install The Program and Run it. Make Sure You Click the "Check for Updates" Button before starting a scan. Do a scan on AdAware and Remove Everything it suggests. After T

you can get the cool web search trojan by going to one of any number of sites on the net ran by Cool Web Search. About:Buster - Download it and extract it to C:/aboutbuster. During the fix do NOT connect to the internet. Unless you can memorize these instructions, it would be a good idea to print them out. Boot into safe mode: Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode. Run AboutBuster -Click Start to begin the process -Click OK on the Buster Report dialogue box to start the s

The "Mydoom" e-mail worm has returned. First discovered in January 2004, Mydoom became one of the top ten most prolific virus/worms of last year. Now anti-virus companies have reported a new variant of this mass-mailing worm. The variant is called "W32.Mydoom.AX@mm" and its discovery is one more example of why we encourage all our Internet users to install virus-scanning software on their computers and to frequently update their security software. (Note: Mydoom infects only Windows-based operating systems — not Macintosh, Linux, or UNIX systems.) The W32.Mydoom.AX@mm e-mail worm (also known

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot. From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log, and we'll clean up what's left. IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files i
