  1. Also, besides the fact that "fixing" everything could, as Cahppy said sometimes compromise some functionality, it probably won't fix the problem. Most new malware today can't be removed by just using HJT. If you've ever had a log analyzed, the helper probably had you download one or more other tools to help with the fix. I feel sorry for anyone this guy has "helped" as his idea of "fixing everything" may not have harmed the computer, but it probably didn't help with their problem.
  2. I'll move this to our new electronics forum!
  3. Hi rjmiller15, yes they would be related. I'm weary to get in depth about this as malicious intents shall not become the topic of discussion. However, here is some info: AOL uses all the ip addresses between 64.12.0.0 - 64.12.255.255 All ISPs have a NetRange. Matt
  4. I had a similar issue, found 17.1GB of stuff that needed to be deleted. Check here. It won\'t show you everything on your PC, but it sure opened up a lot of space for me! Matt
  5. The Dragon Slayer, I just did some quick googling, and actually, that may or may not be a hoax. It hasn't been confirmed yet. Thought I'd let you know before you returned the camera Matt
  6. Actually, yes. It has been found that the rootkit was loaded on new Sony digital cameras. It would block you from sharing your photos. For more information on the rootkit, and removal help, see here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic34904.html Here\'s some more info: Matt
  7. Welcome kidcnote! I'm sure you'll love it here!
  8. Hi rjmiller15. This person is obviously someone who knows one of you. Unless you tend to give out personal information online regularly, he can't have goten this information just by talking to you via IM. My suggestion is that you block this user, and do not contact them any more. If this person, did infact, gain access to your computer somehow, it is advisable that you change your passwords; however I doubt this is the case. At Besttechie, discussing any way to "hack" someone is not allowed, and such discussion will not be permitted. If this person continues to harass you, you should co

Meh.. just got back from visiting family. Heh, we aren't exactly "compatable." Not that we have tension or anything.. its just... eh.. my extended family (on both sides) and my immediate family are very different. That's about as far as I can elaborate. At least the food was good Hope you all had a wonderful day! Matt
  20. Shellconhiddenwindow belongs to Musicmatch. Try uninstalling the program, redownloading, and reinstalling.
  21. Cool! Sounds good. Glad to see you again Dave! Matt
  22. Wow, if true, that would seriously suck. I don't think it will hold up though. Perhaps on pirated games it could work, but used? There are way too many industries devoted to used games. Whenever you go to a mall, you have the option to buy used games; and movie rental stores (not to mention the online gmae rentals) would suffer greatly from this. If that hold through, Sony will lose many business partners and mass-purchase clients. Matt
  23. Ah, the saga continues... Will Sony ever learn? Someone's in trouble... Let's break some more laws! And what does Sony have to say about all this? Could this be the downfall of the electronis super-giant? Also, it has been discovered that recently produced digital cameras contain a version of the rootkit. This prevents you from sharing your photos with anyone. Since when is it bad to share YOUR OWN PICTURES? Sony has seriously hit rock-bottom here. All information quoted can be found: Here More Info I just found this. It is a list released by Sony of the CDs Containing XCP Content Pro
  24. Hi shanenin, running them in safe mode should be perfectly ok. Many anti-virus and anti-malware products suggest running in safe mode since it will limit what is running on your PC. In most cases, but not all, the malware probably won't be running while you are in safe mode. This is good as some types of malware can hinder the workings of the tools. If you scan with Spybot or Ad-Aware, and it says it can't remove something, you can try running in safe mode. There is no guarantee it will work (which then you should probably post a HJT log), but it may. Hope that helps, Matt
