Hi gamefreaks420! I will be assisting you in cleaning up your computer! You may wish to print out these directions for use if/when you cannot access this page. Your system looks rather clean, with just a few things here that could be cleaned up. Let me know if you are still having problems after this. Please disable SpySweeper, as it may hinder the removal of some HijackThis entries. You can re-enable it after you're clean. To disable SpySweeper: Open it, click > Options over to the left then > Program Options > Uncheck "load at windows startup". Over to the left click "shields" and

I'm not sure in 98, but in XP, once you have all the pictures in a folder, Right click the desktop, and click properties. Under the screen saver tab, select my pictures slideshow. Then click Settings. Under settings you can choose which folder the slideshow is coming from (the folder with you pictures). Then click Apply, OK, and it should be done.

Liz, the map is world wide. Right now, I have it set to default at N America because that makes it easier to view at the moment with just N american members. Yes, once others sign up, ill widen the scope. right now, you can do that manually by adjusting the view using the + - bar on the left. Matt

Hey liz! Yeah, that would be something for Jeff to do. Pssst, post that idea in the comments/suggestions forum. I like the idea!

Ah yes. I can relate. Just about EVERY PC at my school has the vundo trojan on it. One day while working on one, I got really annoyed by it, so I thought I'd remove it. Besides the fact that the software wouldn't let me do anything (yet the spyware still got in) I got scolded by the teacher. Oh well, their loss. And yes, if people would quit going to that "You are an idiot" flash and other crap sites like that, schools wouldn't have this issue. Matt

Danny, the software is set up where, if you were the last poster to a thread, and then you reply (meaning you would have two posts in a row), it just puts your second post on as if it were an edit to your last post. I talked to Jeff about this too. He said its a feature the software has to prevent spamming and what not. Matt

JSKY, I checked, you're only on there once. Oh, and btw, since Jeff is in Floriday atm, I dunno if he knows about this yet. hehe, Glad you like it all! Matt

Hi all! I got this idea from Geekstogo, and I thought it would be a fun thing for us! This website has used Google Maps to create Frapper. It lets you mark locations for public sharing, and is being used by many groups to allow members to indicate their individual locations. (Supposedly, "Frappr" is derived from "friend"+"mapper.") By looking at the Frappr map as a whole, you can gain an instant overview of where members are, and how many are near you (for security, Frappr maps each member's location only to the center of their town; not to the street or house level). You can also add yo

Thanks for the link Brandon! -
Yeah, we were discussing that in the thread in the Electronics forum. It was just a hoax, people getting mega-worried.

I've got Kerio kicking now. And, I have to say, I like it! Just make sure when you install, you pick advanced mode, so you controll and teach what has access and what doesn't. It acts like Sygate that way. Matt

Cool I guess ill switch to Kerio. Thanks Brandon

Ok, I need an opinion, Tiny Personal Firewall or Outpost? Thoses (other than ZA) are the only free ones ive found so far.
-
Well, looks like I need a new free firewall... any suggestions guys? Is Kerio free being discontinued? Ill take ZA if I have to, but I don't like the limitations of the free version. Matt

Well, this is not entirely true. If you look at my first post in this thread (here), I talk about this. Most malware today won't be gone by just "fixing" the entry in HJT. Often, the helper will supply one or more other tools while analyzing a log. And, even if other tools aren't needed, certain lines in HJT , such as O4s also need to corresponding file to be deleted. So, once again, while it may be safe to do this with HJT, it probably won't help too much with your malware problem. Matt I chose my words carefully: "any malware entries would be gone" is technically correct since I was a
