  11. Congrats! Your log is clean! How is your system running? The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people. This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again. Firefox- Internet Explorer is not the most secure and best browser. There are safer and better alternatives available. I recommend Firefox, however Opera is good as well. Spybot Search & Destroy - Uber powerful tool which can search and annhilate nasties that make it onto your system. Now with an Immunize section tha
  12. Also, registry cleaners can be very dangerous. One mistake, and what they edit could kill your machine.
  13. Hmm, this seems like it would be really hard to do. VM's act like a completely fresh install of your OS. (since they are fresh OS installs just onto a "virtual machine") They'd have to somehow copy all your files and programs and settings from the host to the VM in order for the user to feel 'at home'. Of course, they'd notice a HUGE slowdown on their pc. With malware and what not running on the host, and the VM in only a certain ammmount of allocated memory, most people would notice. If you find some more info on that JDoors, I'd like to read it Matt BTW, nice article Pat. A good re

  19. The only place I ever look for service info is CastleCops O23 List.
  20. No service is really "useless". They all do something. Unless your computer is being bogged down, or acting odd; I woulnd't touch anything. If you are going to remove something, make sure you do your research on it first.
  21. You can remove it via Add/Remove Programs. Ewido is a fantastic tool. Its one of the best Anti-Malware tools out there. Ewido can compliment just about any security setup. It doesnt fall under AV, (its catagorized as "anti-malware" so its safe to have, along with your current AV.If you are interested, another commercial program that is excellent is Webroot SpySweeper. It is not free, but is very powerful, like Ewido. If you don't mind paying, I'd reccomend them both, along with what you already have. This is really personal opinion. Some people run them once a week, others once a da
