After you get done with your reinstall go to MS updates and start the update process. (they have updated their updater again ) There will be a notice about turning on your auto update and how to get SP2. Click the link for SP2 and it should start. BTW do you know if your OS CD has SP1 on it?? Mine does so SP1 is installed by default. I finally updated to SP2,it was kind of slow but I got it done. One thing I will say is after I was done my PC was kind of slow,but after a day or so is it's old self.

I suggest the manufactures website. You will need the model number of your motherboard,and the version of the BIOS you have now. Then you need to look for a updated version for you BIOS. Follow the directions exactly,print a copy if you can.

Is the cd a full version or a H.P. recovery disk. If full put it in a drive and reboot. If recovery did it come with the PC you just finnished?? Could be you deleted the part you needed on the hard drive.

One way is keep the number of partitions to a minimum. A router with a hardware firewall is the way to go IMHO. I have not been a fan of LARGE hard drives because if the drive goes every thihg goes. I run two drives now one 40 and one 20 more space than I need for a long time.

I have not seen this,will only say if Googlebot use's my coffee cup there will be one very dead bot on the floor.

I suggest you remove the older version of the drivers first then download the newer one. This is a pain I know but works every now and then.

I have been using YIM off and on most of the day no trouble I know of.

First off I would think out of 160 you should get more than 127,but it could be the way you have it partitioned. I would skip SP1 as SP2 will have all the SP1 updates. Are you on cable or a network?? If you are I would go with a router that has a firewall built in. If not then disable the XP wall and install ZA pro. As for the boot screen personally I see no need for them.

While playing Maeda the game will close and go back to the arcade page. It happens when you start to play,but do not allow it to finish loading. So in this game it is a good idea to allow it to load all the way before you start to play.

domingus Hi. While the scans are/might be over kill if it is what you want the go ahead and do the scans. You will not wear out you drive any faster scaning it that what would happen under normal usage. WYI I scan my PC once a week along with windows system tools,(defrag,disk cleanup) is more than enough. I update spy/adware and windows when updates are available.

Yes, IMHO a format and reinstall is the better way to go(easyer)Win98/98se install.(allso win 95) WinME install. Use which ever OS you have your COA for,As this is a H.P. look on the inside of the side panels for your tower,some H.P.'s have the COA glued to the panels. And you might think about printing out the guide for the O/S you use.
