*Besttechie just ordered a 1GB stick of RAM for his laptop to go with me his current 512MB for the Vista install. B
-
Hi Liz, There should have never been a delete post on any version of the forum as we don't delete anything here we just move it a hidden trash can forum, if there was it was a mistake. B

I agree. I want to stick a copy on my laptop first, not letting it touch my desktop. I need to get another stick of RAM though. B

Hate when IE doesn't save your window size? Well now you can fix that: Open one IE browser window. Click on a link to open a second. With the second, drag the corners to the edges of the screen. Do not hit the maximize icon. Close the first window, then the second (the order of closing is important). Make sure you do File, Close; don't use the X button! Now next time you open a second browser window, IE saves the new default window size.

So your PC reboots for no reason (that you know of) out of the blue. Most of the time in XP this happens to a driver issue, however it could be a number of other reasons. Now for some reason in XP Microsoft decided they didn't want people to see the Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD) anymore. Well, believe it or not the BSOD is very helpful, so here's how to enable it on XP. Open Control Panel System Advanced tab Startup & Recovery Take the check out of Automatically Restart Then check the Write a system event and Send an administrative alert boxes. By doing this it will force a BSOD on the

Something many people don't realize is that Google will stop looking at search terms after the 10th word. That's right, it ignores every search term after the 10th word. So those long searches people search with are only getting partial results, which in the end won't be as useful to you. So now you may be asking - how do I fix that? How do I search for what I want with a limited amount of words? Well, we're going to tell you. One way to help shorten your search query is by getting rid of words such as, "and", "or", "of", and "the". Another thing to do is remove common phrases such as "The man

Hi Everyone, I'm happy to announce the newest admin on BestTechie - Matt. Matt has continued to work extremely hard throughout the years and today I'm glad to announce he's our newest administrator. Congrats to Matt - keep up the great work! B
-
No prob, barb. B
-
Matt is correct. If you send a link while logged in the person who clicks the link will not be logged in as you. B
-
What do you mean by include links? You can add links to your blogroll currently. I'll make a tutorial on that, just have to do my homework first . As for personal templates/backgrounds that is currently not available. B

Let's face it, Firefox is a memory hog at times especially when left open for extended periods of time. Well there's a way to fix that with this tweak every time you minimize Firefox it will release some memory, try it! It works! Open Firefox and go to the Address Bar. Type in about:config and then press Enter. Right Click in the page and select New -> Boolean. In the box that pops up enter config.trim_on_minimize -> Press Enter. Now select True and then press Enter. Restart Firefox. Now when you minimize Firefox it will release some memory.

No login/logoff problems here either and I'm using Firefox. B
-
That's not a problem, that email is just a notification that someone added you as a friend, nothing more. B
-
The only thing that I can think of is that if you had these people as PM Contacts (which was replaced by the friends feature) previously before the upgrade they were added to the block list for some reason. Most likely an error, there's really nothing I can do. It looks like if you add a friend now it doesn't add them to your block list (at least it hasn't happened to me when I add people as friends). Thanks for your patience. Hopefully all of you now know how to fix it. This problem is most likely not forum-wide unless you had these people as contacts before-hand or added them as friends

I don't believe I can fix this everyone will have to do it themselves... B
-
I just created the BT Blogs support forum and added the first tutorial which is how to post a blog entry - more to come. B

How To Write A Blog Entry Once you login to your BT Blog account you'll be brought to a page called the "Dashboard". The Dashboard is the page where you can get an overview of all your stats - how many people have linked to you, number of comments, number of categories, number of posts, etc. If you click the link "Write a Post" you'll be taken to another page. From that page you can write your blog entry, when you're done writing on the right hand side you'll see something called "Categories" under categories you can either Add a category for your new blog entry or you can use an existing
