  5. Hi merkavam4, How are you connected to the Internet? Cable, DSL, Satellite? Also, are you connecting through wireless? Wireless meaning you're not connecting directly through whatever type of connection you have with a cat5 (Ethernet cable). Please post back with those detials so we can assist you further. B

  7. Ok, so perhaps you have multiple hard drives or partitions or both in your machine and you use one for music, one for videos, one for pictures and documents or however you may do it. Either way, the default location of your personal folders in Vista are located on your C:\ drive. Now, I keep my music, pictures, videos, documents, etc all on separate drives (only the OS and Applications are installed on the C:\ drive) so naturally this was a problem for my setup, considering when you open your start menu you want easy access to all your stuff as you can get to your personal folders through yo
  8. I'm also running an Acer in fact 2 of them. Both AL1916W's. I wrote an article about the dual monitor setup on the front page, feel free to check it out: Dual Monitors In Vista (Extend Your Desktop) B

  11. Interesting on the MS site it seems to say it's included in Windows Vista (pretty general statement there, even some knowledge base articles regarding this topic apply to all versions of Vista). However, after some further reading it appears that it's only in Vista Ultimate and Enterprise. Sorry about the confusion. B

  13. I know I was wondering if there would be/is some application for Windows Vista such as TweakUI. Well, if you were wondering as well - good news! There is! It's free too. However, there is also a paid version ($39 per year) of it, so of course with the free version you don't get all the features, but you get a most (and it seems they keep adding new stuff). Anyway, this application is called TweakVI. It's essentially the TweakUI for Vista. You can optimize your CPU, edit/hack several things in the OS, and much more. TweakVI Download It's a pretty neat application, check it out. B
  14. Definitely the first thing you should try is what Matt suggested. If you didn't add any new hardware, I'd try the repair install of XP. B
  15. I'm a little lost...were there any recent hardware changes to your machine? As for the question about the computer you're working on...that's more of a personal call. If the user put it there, that's his/her data and you have no right to delete it. B
  16. It shouldn't be too hard, this tutorial will show you how to do it. It provides steps with GParted, however the same type of partitioning can be done with Partition Magic (However that's not free, but if you have it - that'll work too. If you don't have Partition Magic use GParted as they show). http://apcmag.com/5023/dual_booting_xp_with_vista Note: From what I've read, you will need a full version of Vista in order for this to work! That's very important. I've read if you use an Upgrade disk to do the install with XP still on the drive it will void your XP install. So you're going to ne
