  1. This is an interesting read I ran across: http://thebetaguy.com/exclusives/?postid=1...ows-7-exclusive B
  2. If by security stuff you mean UAC (User Account Control) that can be disabled, open the "Start Menu" and click on your picture at the top of the main menu to open up "User Accounts". Click on "Turn User Account on or off". Then un-check "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer". Click "OK" and exit. This will turn off all the User Account Contrpl (UAC) after you reboot. However, with that said, there are ways than just completely turning it off which are more recommended. See this post by JSKY for more information: Adjusting User Account Control (UAC) B
  3. I have had no issues aside from manufacturer (software and hardware) driver issues, however, even those have been limited. One could blame MS for their silly driver signature compatibility in Vista x64, however, it's also the manufacturers job to make the apporopriate drivers for the operating system. Anyway, I've been using Vista Ultimate for over a year now (both x86 and x64) and I haven't had any major issues with it. The Service Pack that was just released for Vista has made some major improvements (from what I've seen) in stability, compatibility, and reliability. I also agree with wh

  7. The chat room is hosted on WyldRyde IRC Network, it'll be able to handle it quite well. Last giveaway (Windows Vista Ultimate) we peaked at 175 people in chat. I'd like to hit at least 200 this time. B

  9. I went with Corsair and got an RMA on the mushkin which I sent back yesterday. B
  10. Well, it lasted over night this time. Maybe I'm in the clear... B
  11. Alright, got the RAM today, installed it. No problems so far...hopefully it will remain that way. B
  12. Unfortunately, I cannot provide any hints or any more detail than what I post on the blog (at least until it is done). As for Perfectography, that is Mandy's (my girlfriends) site. B
  13. Hey Everyone, I'm inviting you all to come check out my new website where I will be discussing my latest projects as well just a place that I can call my own "personal site". http://www.jeffweisbein.com/ B
  14. I got the RMA - I'm just going to return it and buy new, maybe Corsair. B
  15. I'm not a huge Bose fan myself. There are a number of far better audio engineering companies out there who make excellent products. Bose is in my opinion the brand name of speakers, they obviously made a name for themselves, however, there is definitely much better stuff out there. I use a pair of Klipsch ProMedia 2.1's for all my audio listening on my PC. If you're looking for good quality, decently priced stereo speakers check out Paradigm. B
  16. Just make sure she can access BestTechie.net B
  17. Double checking the info the RAM should work no problems. I'll mess with testing each stick tonight or tomorrow. B
  18. Just curious could it cause by an incompatiblity with the RAM? Either with the system or the operating system (Vista Ultimate SP1 - final release) or would it most likely be bad RAM? Just odd, I mean, it booted, recognized the RAM and worked perfectly fine for a good few hours (at least while I was awake - then poof just BSOD) This happened the same night I put it in the system. B
  19. Well, certainly, my streak of bad luck hasn't run dry yet. So I put the RAM in, PC boots, sees the RAM and everything is working fine. I go to sleep, wake up (for no reason) at 3:30AM, look at my PC and see a blue screen and I think to myself, "heh...it can't be a BSOD" I then proceed to hop out of bed and look, sure enough it is. It was a 0X0000001A error code, I go look it up found some stuff on Windows 2000 and early releases of Vista. I'm not really too sure, I tried resetting the RAM - it didn't like that either, tried two different slots - no go. Put my old RAM back in everything h
  20. Thanks for input guys! It's out for delivery, so it's supposed to arrive today! I'll let everyone know how it goes. B
  21. As do I. I think I'll be recieving it tomorrow - not bad. I ordered it yesterday and it was shipped out today from New Jersey. Newegg rocks! B
  22. I just purchased the RAM below, it's a pretty decent deal: mushkin 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) I was also looking at some OCZ but in the end went with the mushkin. I've never used mushkin RAM before, however, I have heard many good things. I do not game though and from what I read they're geared towards gamers. Anyone have an experience with mushkin? The reviews on the page look good, so I'm hoping for the best. B
