  1. Hey Legendary70, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, it's been a crazy week here. That SSD looks pretty good, I'm also a fan of OCZ SSD's. B
  2. I think the NSA "requested" Katy Perry name her new album PRISM for this very reason. B
  3. Hey Dennereli, That's interesting... I haven't heard anything like that. A few things you may want to try/consider: 1. Check out Malwarebytes Anti-Malware: http://www.besttechie.com/downloads/malwarebytes-anti-malware/ and use that with SaS or as a replacement. 2. You could try submitting a support ticket via the website: http://www.superantispyware.com/precreateticket.html 3. Here's something I found on the SaS that has to do with failed updates, it may be helpful: http://www.superantispyware.com/supportfaqdisplay.html?faq=85 Let me know if any of this helps! B
  4. Hey Cinno, First, welcome to BestTechie! I'd definitely recommend buying the domain separately from the web host. Registrar's like Godaddy.com or Namecheap.com are both good. You can then use Webair to host the site, they provide site builders and point-and-click installs. If you need more specific help, let me know and I'll see what I can do to help you out. B
  5. I don't like the idea of overheating stuff on purpose, but he does have a point: "What do you have to lose?" I'd just stress having some kind of backup (if you care about the data) just in case something goes terribly wrong. B
  6. I would encourage everyone to also read and comment on the main part of the site, we update it every day with new and interesting tech articles. Plus, we're building out a downloads section and buying guide (among other things coming)! B
  7. Which fan? If the fans aren't spinning... that's obviously not good. Can you tell if the hard drive has any activity? B
  8. I've been playing with iOS 7 and I can tell you iRadio is just like Pandora. You select a "radio station" and it will play songs that it feels are a good fit. One of the things I don't love is that you can't select particular songs you want to play, you're basically stuck with whatever comes on (like a radio station), though you can skip over a song if you don't like it (you can also rate songs to help get better selections). 9. Yeah, definitely read what flashh4 linked to. Also, here's a graphic that compares/contrasts more of the features: B
  10. I'm pretty sure neither would do anything to help the situation. I'm not even sure you could remove whatever storage is in the thin client (if its just flash memory it could be soldered to the motherboard) and unfortunately I highly doubt you'll be able to add a real hard drive. The reason it keeps bringing back those icons is because it's reconnecting to the company's network (or at least trying to). Basically, the reason why the company didn't mind not getting it back is because it's practically useless outside their network. B

  12. Hey, It may be very difficult to do... thin clients that run Windows XP Embedded require the company's servers to get access to the operating system, etc. They're pretty limited as you have found out. Companies use thin clients because they have the ability to run an operating system with major applications such as word processing and spreadsheets, as well as other custom internal software, on remote servers. This saves companies millions in computing service fees. The storage in the thin client is most likely 1 or 2GB, so you can't install any OS on that. It's also not a traditional

  14. Sounds good, Alex. I like desktops too. If you're a PC guy (and it sounds like you are), have you considered the K series from Lenovo? I'm a fan of Lenovo computers (both laptops and desktops) when it comes to Windows machines. Check out what you can get for around $1,000 here: http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/desktops/ideacentre/k-series/ B
  15. Hey Iskandr, Typically if you have two partitions you would use the first partition for the OS and applications, and the second partition can be used to store all your files such as documents, musics, pictures, videos, etc. As for transferring them over to the second partition, yes, you would literally just drag and drop them onto the other partition. One of the benefits to storing your files on a second partition is that you can easily reinstall your OS and apps without having to worry about losing your other files. B
  16. Hey Iskandr, Any reason you're looking for a desktop over a laptop? For school, you may get more use out of a laptop. Also, what do you plan on doing with the computer? B
