  5. Ok, I get the hint. No PVR in an ammo case. That's not how I want to get my 15 min of fame. Maybe I could squeeze one into a VCR! BH
  6. AMEN! Things should improve soon. A lot of hiring takes place during OCT-DEC due to the federal budget. All I have to do is hold out. BH
  7. I am using an ammo case for a PC project I am doing. The question is: Will I be able to fly with it? I plan on checking it, but I am afraid there might be enough nitrate residue on the case to set off the sniffers. Needless to say, this would be very, very bad. BH
  8. Couple of years ago down south, three crooks tried to steal an ATM by wrapping a chain around it and connecting the chain to the bumper hitch of their truck. When they took off, the bumper was pulled off and the alarm went off. They got scared and took off, leaving their bumper and licence plate still attached to the chain.
  9. HOLY CRAP! You must really love your job, or Nashvilles job market must be bad. That kind of distrust on the part of employers is too much stress for me. I do however envy your location, I loved Nashville. I went to school up in Bowling Green. BH
  10. This is going to be a hard sell, you have too much competition. If you want make money on this, why don't you try the following. Advertise your LABOR on ebay. Say you will build anyone a computer for $100 (50 an hour for 2 hours work) plus parts. Specifically identify the time they will save by leaving it up to you. They specify roughly what they want to pay for each component, and you get them the best deal on the net for that part, plus a 5% markup. Hypothetically, lets say I want a BF2 machine, and I want to spend as little as possible for quality components (no off brand stuff). So
  11. You want a sob story, it costs me ~30 dollars a day to get to work. I travel over 100 miles. (my job folded suddenly and I had to take what I could get) Toyota dealer, here I come! BH
  12. I spend a lot of time on the internet for my job. Security Focus, Vendor sites, NIST, CERT, NSA, DISA. All are default tabs when I start Firefox in the morning. In addition, I am salaried and routinely work over 40 weekly. I probably spend less time surfing for non-job related reasons than most people spend in the restroom. I asked this question over at G$ one time, primarily of the mods. SURPRISE, no one admitted they were modding on company time. The one enlightening thing I learned was that some Mods were actuallly retired and volunteering. That kind of made me feel good for some
  13. <The sound of crickets> LOL There are technical degrees, if you really want to go hard core and not do computer science try: Devry The great thing about Devry and similar programs is you get a degree with a heavy coverage of the vocational skills portion of your chosen field. For the vocational certs, Cisco CCIE virtually guarantees you a six figure income after 5 years experence in the DC area. I decided not to persue it because I didn't want to travel. The most highly paid CCIEs are the 'fly in' troubleshooters. SANS certifications in security are also prized. CISSP is less res
  14. Just to give you an idea of how bad it is for me, here is the mental process I go through each time I have to decide if it is right or left: I recall a memory of an intersection from when I was 9 years old, if we turned right we were going to my my cousins home. And I can't recall what was left. I see that intersection EVERY TIME I have had to give directions for the last 30 years. How messed up is that? BH Maybe I should get L and R tatooed on the back of my hands (Reference to another thread)
  15. Granted, your keyboard now only has the letters B.E.T.T.E.R in a row, with 12 hotkeys that type the word 'better'. I wish there was no such thing as DC traffic.
  16. I have another one: Being able to take a half-day on Friday (missing traffic). An Autumn walk would be nice right now... BH
  17. Wish granted, now you have to buy new dishes. (Define "Do") I wish I could find my shoes.
  18. This thread is to express things that give you joy. I'll Start: I really like it when my wife makes my coffee when I haven't asked her too. BH
