I hate to be the one to say this as I have never suggested to anyone before, but I too had a bunch of trouble with SP. 2 slowing my comp down. Boot up and shut down was sloooooow, not to mention I am on cable and my surfing was like being on dial up. I tried everything and nothing would work. In the end I did a total reformat and I no longer have any and I mean no problems with SP. 2 or my comp. So if you have tried everything and nothing has worked format is in order sorry I had to say the word reinstall windows it sucks I know. I had to do mine like 4 times because I never done a refor

This is for my Compaq running XP home. This is an odd problem but minor. Ok when I go to start all programs I notice my programs are not in alphabet order. Is there a way I can have XP arrange my all programs in order instead of haveing to go crazy looking for a program that starts with the letter C like my Canon utilities is over ware maybe the T's should be ? Am I makeing any since hear ? This is an odd problem I have never run accross before. Thanks for your time. Shadow.

Hi B. as you can tell by my signature I am a DJ. I was wondering if by chance you could ad a little music note thing like G4 has. My dumb reason is because when I sign out of a post or thread I like to use that little music note. I know it is a strange request but it is a tiny request. Thanks for considering it in advance. Shadow. I am talking about the little clickable smilies Lol.

Anyone wanting to have Pete removed must be a serious looser period. There are some strange A wads over there.

Hi gang it's me again. This time I need some help with my small home network. OK hears the deal. I have my Compaq Presario 5000 with XP home. I also have cable with a U.S. Robotics router that is hardwired, not wireless. My Dell 4600 has XP pro. Hears the deal, under local area connection on the Compaq when I go to local area connection properties, gen tab, internet protocol (TCP/IP) and properties I have the cheek in the area ware it says use the following IP address that starts out with 192.168.123.23 Subnet mask 255.***.***.0 Default Gateway192.168.123.*** DNS. server 66.***.**.*** Preferr

It's 2:20 AM Monday and I started Sunday afternoon about 1:30 PM I have worked non stop. I thank God I never spent much time putting in apps a couple days ago. She's up and running like a brandnew computer I tell ya I just never give up. If I don't put 110% into something it's not done by me. My wife loves me again I thought I would never hear the end of this one Now she thinks I should give up my job at the ra -

As I said in this post I would let everyone know how things turned out. Well.... One hell of a task but she runs wonderfull on SP. 2 I might add that this was my first time I have ever had to reinstall as both comps came preinstalled. My problem is... and don't tell anyone this Lol I have always been affraid to mess with a computer as I never had to do this kind of thing. I think in my mind I always feel I am going to make a mystake and ruin my comps. I am not stupid or anything like that, but when you have never done something before it spooks me. This is the story. Pull up a chair and a go -

Thanks for all the replies, however nothing has worked. So tomorrow 9/23 I am going to use my restore CD's and restore my Compaq to the way it was from the factory. So I will reformat this comp for the first time in almost 3 years. I have been busy backing up all my data for the past couple of days. Anyways for the past year or so I have noticed a few strange problems and one that comes to mind is in my services, every so often I notice when i have a service set to automatic it will disable itself for reasons I don't know why. The one that comes to mind is my Norton AV. the password I always h -
I still have my Sony playstation one. I remember when it came out, it was the hot thing too have. I paid $199.00 for it and I only have I believe 6 games for it Lol. I rented most of the games I have ever played on it. I haven't had my PS. 1 hooked up in well over a year. I got my first computer almost 3 years ago and now I own 2 comps. So now I have no use for my PS. 1 I am not a big gamer I guess I never was, my wife is always yelling at me because I spend a good bit of money on PC. games and never play them much. I love the one game I have though, it's called Invisable wars. I love the soun

I was just wondering if anyone has had any issues with SP. 2 ? I have been at it since 8/31 to present on my Compaq Presario 5000. I went to H.P. web site updated the N-Vidia driver before SP. 2 update. I have tried Windows update and I also have the SP. 2 CD and the results are always the same. I do not get any errors or freeze ups, but what i find strange is this. After the install and I reboot the machine a few times I set the security to not monitor my AV. & firewall, I have even disabled the XP pro firewall but hear is ware it gets strange. When i open IE. 6 it acts like it has a seve

I think what we see is what we get and that isn't much. I missed the first show, but from what I have read they got off on the wrong foot. From what I have seen so far, I'm not impressed. I see Kevin & Sarah still act like a couple of teenagers. It's cool there dating and what ever else and that's cool to. But does it have to be on camera as well. I thought that stuff was behind us but I see it's not so, that should tell us something. Seems to me there is little if no content to speak of. I'm opened minded, so I'll give em another week Lol. Seriously though, if this is all it's going to be

Neat stuff I tell ya.

You know the old saying, you can't teach an ole dog a new trick. This is got to be the best thing I have seen so far for 2004. I can't thank you enough for this tool. I have been running a comp for just about 3 years and never, and I mean never heard of this one. My new dell it did nothing for it only because it's 4 months old. My compaq is just about 3 years young. I take care of my comps in every way, and I have to admit even after useing all the tools etc. to keep this going strong. After trying what you posted my Compaq dam near takes off like the space shuttle Lol. But serious I was amaze

Man if I had a machine like that I am sure I would go back up to 30 cups of coffee a day. That's right, it's not a typo as I use to drink 30 cups of java ah day. Now I only drink about 12 cups of Joe a day. I'm less hyper so I have been told. My DR. still isn't to happy about it, but as I tell her at least I am not drinking 30 cups of joe. A machine like that would be the cause of my happy death LMAO.

Ok this is a new Dell 4600I. 3.0 Ghz. 1.5 gig of pc. 3200, 9800 ATI. pro, 120 gig HD. Running XP pro. Ok this is the thing with SP. 2 I have had it on this machine for just about 3 days and am thinking of getting rid of it already. The reason.... seems when the computer is off overnight and I turn it back on the next day when it boots up all seems good until what few things in the lower right side of the toolbar load up. Meaning my Norton AV. 2003 and my network connection for my cable. Well this is ware the problem is but it only does this after the comp has been off overnight and when I firs

Congrats ! That's great news. Also congrats on going back to school as you'll do fine. I almost thought about going to school for computers, but computer science scares the hell out of me Lol. Back when I was in broadcast school I had to take a test for the F.C.C. elements 1, 2, & 9 which was calculus. I failed the first test but they let me take it over again and passed. I almost thought I was not going to graduate Lol. but I did. Their were days I asked myself what the hell did I get myself into ? The drop out rate was high at the broadcast school I went to. I was ready to quit after the

Thanks for the link. I'm going to print this out and keep it for now. I ordered the sp2 cd today. Won't get it for 4-6 weeks, but thats ok. Not going to install it for a couple of months. Wait until the experts test drive it first. Barb I was one of the few in the beginning that was able to order the CD and less then 24 hours later they cut everyone off. I got My CD. this past Wednesday Lol

I think it's a wonderful thing. I know once I had to edit a post and said to myself, I wonder if I have that minute wait. And too my surprise I did not. This board is set up nice. One can tell a lot of thought went into this site. I sure hope this board gets a lot of traffic in the short future. Again B. you did one hell of a great job on this site.

I got my name back in the day when I was in radio broadcasting school 1992. All my friends call me Shadow, so the name has stuck with me. It's my board name, Radio & TV. Yup I even volunteer a little time to a local TV. station in my area and my screen name of course is...............
