Sad story. A LIFE for a TV.

So would this be a hook or a fade?... Thanks Marty, I'm still laughing. And believe me, I needed it! Joe

This is to be expected with just three weeks to go before the election. Have you noticed the lowering of gas prices also? (happens before every major election) Eat it up while you can. It's all a temporary illusion.

J, sorry, but you are wrong here. The thousands employed just in the immediate area working to keep the military supplied with helicopters and pilots will disagree. The kids getting a free education from military contractors that need skilled techinical workers will disagree. And virtually any store owner around here will disagree, as w/o the steady income of the contracters, the local economy would crash. "Thanks to the Iraq War? Come on Bubba Bob, I sincerely hope that you are not trying to justify war as a legitimate ecomonic stimulus. ....Are you?

I was just thinking about that old Milton Bradley board game "The Game of Life" Remember the "Promissory Notes" that you accumulated when you ran out of money? .....Zero might not be that bad.

Happy Birthday Twice!

Divorced Brian Expensive! , but definately worth it. Edit: I just got goose bumps recalling the joy. And it was 25 years ago! I was so happy that I took my lawyer out to lunch after the decree, and I paid for it!

JSKY, please package some up and send it to me. It is October 12th, and today is literally the first day since April that I was able to turn the AC off and open the windows and doors. The local rag, The Arizona Republic (which is great for lining my cat litter box and also makes pretty good compost for my garden when combined with kitchen wastes and other sh#t, ran an article yesterday that read " Chilly Forecast! Temp this weekend might be in the 70's!" ....Oh No! I better put snow chains on my tires and get out the snowshoes! I guess it's all relative.

Excommunication I was threatened with this continuously while attending eight years of catholic school. And I'm sure my name is recorded in some of the crazy nuns logs somewhere and has been forwarded to the vatican.. ......now ask me if I care.

Thank you Pete! This machine sounds too good to be true. Soooo.....I'm definately going to try it. A few notes: my dog would NOT eat the boat anchors that I baked. I did usually freeze them after the 4 + hour prepping, mixing, rising, proofing, yada yada yada, baking, cleaning, etc. ordeal..... The pigeons and ducks and geese in the park thought they were great, but I'm not sure that qualifies me for any James Beard awards. I love to make the sourdough starters that you mentioned. Growing up in NY and CT and then spending time in Boston and San Francisco I was exposed to a lot of that. Bu

This topic reminded of of the great Micheal Douglas portraying the evil Gordon Gekko in the 1987 film ...Wall Street. "Greed is good". Edit: It looks like you beat me to it JDoors

Here's another one.

Ps/2 is pretty basic . Is this the same mouse? If so, it could be bad. Not sure if I understand the question completely. More details? Joe

Not sure why, but now it works. Anyway, thanks.

My Antidote to the Desert

That sounds great. I had to take a baking class one semester as a requirement for culinary school. I consider myself a very good cook, but bread baking is definantely NOT my forte. I baked a lot of boat anchors in my time. Is this machine able to produce those wonderful airy holes that make French and Italian bread so good? Question about setting the timer to start later: Is the liquid and flour in contact with each other while it's waiting? What about the yeast? I would think that would kill the activation of the yeast, no?

Hmmmm........I can't seem to post it. I took the ScreenShot, posted it to my Flickr account, used the "insert image" tool on BT, but get this error message: "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this board. A valid format is: http://www.domain.com/picture.gif, an invalid format is: http://www.domain.com/picture.one.gif" What am I doing wrong?

A little late, but are you paying attention to the - + format of the DVD?. I think the Panasonic is +. I could be wrong though.

interesting word! Seems like it was also the term for an ancient Greek VOTING ballot. Names would be etched onto the broken pieces of pottery. If the reason for the vote was to force someone into exile, and the votes added up to whatever the standard was at the time, the candidate got the boot. Hence the term Ostracism

All right now......let's not let this get out of control I'm not sure what Marty's post has to do with the subject. As far as Fannie and Freddie go, I think the blame can be layed at many levels. Neither side is exempt. Case in point: Rick Davis. Nuff said.

Dressing .... a sauce. (Hollandaise, for one....I had to learn this sauce to perfection in culinary school. It's one of the five "mother sauces" in French Cuisine. The other four are Béchamel, Espagnole, Veloute, and Tomato. ie: Everything else is based on them . Although I could never justify the raw egg thing in Hollandaise. I actually got a lower grade because I refused to eat it. As I told the chef/ instructor, "Sorry but I don't do well with Salmonella".
