  1. success suck less (it just popped into my head ......might have something to do with the new pain meds I just started taking tonight). Unfortunately "success" for me has come down to just not hurting as much. Hence, life sucks less = success. ... drinking-straw-with-a-pin-hole-in-it sucks less... I guess . Frustration! Shoulder Pain It sucks, because I've had pain in my shoulder for 2 years, and now I am going back on monday to have it looked at again. Brian Tell me about it! My has been two years and one surgery and it still hurts like hell. "shoulder pain" Vicodin
  2. I downloaded Tight VNC and used it within my LAN. Works great. Here's the problem though. I've been reading up on how to use it over the internet with port forwarding and static ip adresses which apparently is required to run outside of a LAN. I have access to the router and laptops now and can set it up myself, but my "customer" is taking the router and laptops to another location and of course a different ISP. I assume that the router settings would then have to be changed again? There is no way that she would be able to do this herself. Or am I wrong about the router settings changing?
  3. Looks good, but I don't see any free programs other than trial periods. Is that what you mean? Thanks, Joe OK I found it on a Google search. They seem to hide it on Log Me In's main page. Here it is. Thanks again, I'm now trying this software.
  4. Thank you! I read about TightVNC but I thought it said it didn't work on Home Editions. Maybe I was wrong. I'll give it a try.
  5. OK. I have become the admin of my SO's sister's two Vista laptops. She is technically illiterate and a magnet for viruses, trogens, malware etc. I've never seen anyone have more computer problems than she does. It's mind boggling. That being the case I am usually stuck cleaning up her mess on a semi annual basis. I'd like to try to do routine maintenance using remote access. I have XP Home and she has Vista Home Premium. I was going to use GoToMyPC, but it's too expensive. Does anyone know if the built in Windows Remote Access is any good? If not, any other suggestions for software? Thanks, J
  6. I see that M$ Internet Explorer 8 is a recently added critical update. Has anyone found any problems with this program? Is it ready for primetime? Yeah, I know all about the advantages of using FireFox, but I need IE as a secondary browser. All comments appreciated. Thanks Joe
  7. That looks interesting. I'll check it out. Thanks

  9. Not sucking would be a good business model! I hope it works.

  11. "I joked to my neighbors that I planned on putting down green linoleum; No muss, no fuss, just Mop-and-Glo once a week!" LOL. That's funny. That reminds me of an aunt of a certain ex-wife who retired to Pompano Beach, Florida. We went down to visit (this was many years ago). She actually had a cement front yard that was painted green. Mine is not that bad though. We planted a bunch of desert type flowering bushes and trees in the front when we took out the grass. That was about four years ago. I was horrified at first, thinking that it looked so barren. But I have to admit that it actually loo
  12. LOL. It took me a few minutes to "get it". Linux Operating System Brian Surgery ...brain cells ( I'm losing them as we speak )
  13. The joke's on you, it's YOUR APPLICATION! I WAS being facetious.
  14. Yes. Some people are sick and disgusting. I truly hope they catch this freak! Very sad indeed.
  15. There are no other comparible electronics stores around here, so Best Buy can do whatever they want now. I feel about Home Depot like I felt about Circuit City; don't like the atmosphere, don't like the lack of help, don't think the prices are anything special. I decided to replace my lawnmower (a new Craftsman that I had to have repaired each of the four times I used it) and out of frustration I decided, dammit, I'm just gonna get a Honda lawnmower at Home Depot, like normal people do. I stood around the lawnmowers for twenty minutes or so, grabbed somebody walking by who said he'd ge
  16. " That stopped 'em cold"..... I guess what ever side of the fence you happen to be on, money talks.
  17. It works fine now. Not sure what the problem was earlier. Nice site. I made a post in camera central.
  18. I've been around here for some time now. Just noticed the skins at the bottom of the page. Pretty cool!
