I'm going to stand in front of their fully stocked refrigerator for an hour, with the door opened while eating everything in sight and yelling "There's nothing in here to eat". Take a shower and use 6 towels to dry off. Finally, wash my stained shirt all by itself while there's a load of dirty closes, ready to wash, next to the washer Oh yeah, and leave every stinkin' light in the house on Mark

Slow but sure, I'm kinda getting used to it. I got almost everything set up the way I like it. Once I figure out how to get my trackball to work I'll be a happy camper. Found a couple of hacks for a 5 button mouse, which. I assume the 5th button is the scroll ring, but that's still over my head. I find myself booting less and less to the XP drive. Hitest, how's the wife and daughter? I remember you had a couple of concerns over Christmas. Hope everything's OK Mark

Raining here off and on most of the weekend, but it's still hot. Went to turn on the AC and nothing. Dodging raindrops to fix that. Of course, being a holiday, the wife goes out and buys all new patio furniture which needs put together. Got a pregnant daughter moving back home this weekend to try and save up some money, so of course the wife has to totally disassemble /reassemble the room. Family's coming over today for burgers, dogs, and brats. Got some nice looking western-cut ribs I'll rub down and smoke tomorrow Mark

My ex had a stupid cat, which she had the front paws declawed. We got married, got new furniture, and it took that cat less than a month to totally destroy my favorite leather chair. Guess I should have recognized an omen when it happened Mark

I want to download a calendar program. The file, Rainlendar-lite-2.1.tar.bz2, downloaded to Archive Manager. I clicked "open" and It didn't do anything. I minimized it, to read the help files, which wasn't any help, and I must have closed the Download Manager. Now I can't even find that. Where is it located? When I do find it, how do I unzip and download the program? Thanks Mark

Just an update. NewEgg had a sale on Viewsonics over the weekend. I got a 19" and 20" wide screen for under $450 shipping included. They look pretty good, got them adjusted nearly to where I like it and no dead pixels. Added benifit, I have a desk! Gonna take me a while to clean it up though Mark

Thanks. I'm now reading and bookmarked the Linux glossary of terms I found. I got to remember that I didn't learn Windows overnight, either Mark

I need to download some codecs to play music. I opened the package manager and located GS Streamer. It wants me to select a directory. Am I correct in assuming the "root" in Linux is the same as "C:\" in Windows? Do I just select "Root" and then click add or do I need to create a folder and label it "codecs"? All the different names for the same things are getting me a little flustered Mark

I'm not a big gamer and I'm not up on all the latest processors. Your video card choices are limited. It's a PCI slot not AGP Here's NewEgg's selection. Remember you want DX 9 support Are you OK on memory? Just remember that it probably won't be near as good as playing it on the other machine. What is the motheboard make and model? Mark NewEgg

Need Help Installing A New Video Card
garmanma replied to sceeter32's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
I seem to recall reading somewhere to uninstall all the software related to the card. Example, ATI has the Catalyst Control Center. I don't know what comes with Nvidia. I found this link from the Winds BBS site. I'm not sure what driver cleaner utility he's talking about tutorial Mark -
Need Help Installing A New Video Card
garmanma replied to sceeter32's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Did you check to see if it's compatible with Vista? Ask the place where you bought it what they tested it on Mark -
Hey, I resemble that remark Mark

Yeah, if you're going to strip it for parts, try running it out of the case on the bench Mark

Well, I have to wait until the weekend to see what money I have. I'll check out the sales ads and NewEgg's weekend specials and go from there. I just hate Best Buy. Thanks guys Mark

It could be a lot of things. The main one for 95-98 is bad memory A fresh install is probably best. To defrag with 95-98 it was usually recommended to do it in safemode with the screensaver set to off Mark
