Yessss!!!! I knew this was the right place for me the moment I first saw the title of the thread. But can't stay over here very long tonight, almost time to give the cat her anti-seizure medication (phenobarbital (sp?) in a fish solution made by the local compounding druggist), then to bed, as 4 am comes way to soon on workdays for hubby. So will be back tomorrow for that coffee. Yes Columbian is my favorite! Yuban! Congratulations to those who have stopped smoking, or are trying to. It is not only bad for your health, but terrible too for those of us who are allergic to it. I am putting a bi

Hi thesidekickcat: I think you are right. I just read it again, from Efwis thread. It certainly sounds like the same tactics. Sorry to post the same thing. This is just written a little different, but sure looks like the same thing. Barb Hi Barb, I was only questioning if the two sources could be talking about the same thing. I didn't mean to cause you to feel sorry about posting it. In fact I am sorry for making you feel sorry. (oh my if I keep going on here I will get more confused than my normal usual mixed up self. ) Don't be sorry for posting any warnings, even if they are possibly du

I guess one thing is clear, you can't control the weather, and no matter what it does there will be complaints. For instance our normally rainy Portland Or area, (and all the NW) are facing droughts and high fire danger already. I thought we were at the 3rd or maybe 2nd driest winter on record, but the noon news said it is now 2nd and may end up being the driest ever. We have matched and broken all kinds of high temperature records this year. Had several days in the 70's even. Now that is just plain hard to take for us webfooters this early in year!!! Now NW governors want to declare emergency

Here's the mouse thread that Marty was referring to, but it ended up being an interesting thread with answers for many with same problem. Dell Optical Mouse Interference From Dell Logo Mouse Pad God bless everyone.

Having Some Really Freaky Internet Problems!

Hi TK, I just thought of something, I saw your (?) thread on G4 about a new antispyware program that someone said later was similar to Microsofts antispyware one. Can't remember if it found anything on your system, but I am wondering if that program could have done anything to your system? Was that tested just before your current problem? Maybe something was removed by it, or in conflict with MS one. Another thing to check out, I heard once that there was an Xbox Virus, so did a Google search that turned up quite a few listings. It could be just a rumor, or it could be real? I will let you ch -
Yep just a good ole gossip session over coffee at the kitchen table. Haha! I am not sure the kid from Pakistan (can't think of his screen name) is involved with development, may have been one of the early new board testers though. He is sure smart. (I think lots of the kids on the boards are real smart) And he does very good work with making up signs, like the new cafe one, and avatars etc. Kind of hyper at the moment with the new board excitement. Ha! Yes he is good at apologizing once he sees the need. There is another kid that is involved in the "upstairs" that seems to speak for Leo and J

Thanks for the warning Barb. Could this be the same, or similar, to the sticky? thread Efwis did awhile back called "A New Theory Has Been Broken"? One of the people posting a comment on your linked article sounded like what we were reading on Tom Coyote's thread that Efwis posted about. Wasn't that a Java Exploit allowing it to happen? I am not sure, but think that is what I read. God bless everyone.

Hello again Marty, I found your G4 mouse thread last night. That was an interesting thread about an optical mouse acting strange with Dell mouse pad. Turned out to be the Dell logo colors interfering with the optical mouse signal. The original poster said even Dell support didn't know the answer until a month or so ago. Several people on the thread said they also had the same trouble. So it was a good thread, that nearly got derailed by the one guy (with over a 1000 posts since he signed up in Feb) and the guy who called him a troll (though I kind of agree that he is close to acting like one

She is getting really fed up, I think, with that tired old joke of her breaking Leoville. I saw a few posts where she tried to stop one kid from Pakistan for overdoing that line. He finally figured out she meant it and apologized. Still how can she stop others from saying it? Even Josh does it. How she has stood it so long I have no idea! She has far more patience and a better sense of humor than I would under the same circumstances. She is the one who PM'd me back, on the old Leoville, when I had sent her one about Captain Alan's trekkie stories (which she also liked) thread being lost if not

I remember Pete telling us over on G4 to be careful with this thing, along with 3 others checked to ignore on Spybot. New.net, LSP.new.net, Sidestep, and MY Search are not to be cleaned/fixed by antispyware etc. Have you done new scans now? I would try both your MS antispyware, and Spybot scan, if you have newdot net unchecked in it, to see if it detects it. Do not let it fix it if it finds it. Another idea, to see if it is cleaned out and safe, is to run a Hijackthis log in the HJT section of the board (with a reference link to this thread). The experts in HJT can tell you if it is still a

TymeKiller, hello my friend. I was checking out a weeks worth (or more) of threads at G4 the other day (I had been spending all that week between here and Leoville). I saw one older thread on G4, that you said you had a virus (the human kind), so hope you are feeling better! You have XP as an os on your computer right? Maybe one of their now mandatory automatic updates didn't work out right for your system? Even my Windows 2000, has been changed back to automatic, says I can cancel but it wont actually let me do it, but so far it hasn't done any updates as far as I know. Anyhow that is my inex -
Thank You Liz for your very kind words! If I had a blushing smilie I would use it. (I still don't know what alot of the smilies here mean.) As for well thought out comments...ummm...I mostly just wing it and am lucky if it even halfway stays on topic as gabby as I am, then preview and correct it alot. HaHa!!! Now my secret is out. The thread I was talking about was in Tech News I think, about the coming IE7 from Microsoft. Lori in that thread is or will be a moderator I think, and worked for months on testing the new boards before they went public, besides she is just a real nice person. TH

That's funny! For some reason it reminded me of someone from my childhood. I guess it was the Hillbilly title and then the cornbread made me think of corncobs... oh well I get sidetracked easily. There was a family from "the hills" that moved near my folks' place in western Washington when I was little. I used to get in trouble from my Mom for staring in awe at the lady of the house when she was smoking a corncob pipe. That was back in the late 40's, when it was uncommon to see women smoking at all, let alone smoking a corncob pipe. (She also chewed tobacco which absolutely amazed me...I thoug

I agree that this is now home base. I am so thankful for it. I am trying to keep up with the new Leoville but there are flame problems there even as new as it is with fresh start for everyone. Seems like some people will pick on others for no reason, or just to be ornery, or to push their operating system/browser/etc choices down others throats. I stood up for myself on one thread there that went sour like that. I did so politely and luckily didn't get any backlash. But I really felt like telling them to MYOB. Even my hubby (who isn't into message boards) wanted to know why they were so rude,

I wonder what the person who named it "Attack of the Show" was on, to come up with such a dumb sounding name??? I haven't been over to the G4 boards for a few days (I have been learning to use the new Leoville Fussion BB boards), so did they also change the name of the SS's two boards to that ridiculous name? If so there might be a mutiny!!! I wonder how anyone could be so dimwitted to name a show that and expect anyone to know what it is about, (or CARE!!!), or to have any respect for the network doing it. Maybe that whole network is from an alien planet and has infiltrated our world via th

happy Birthday Kat May you be blessed with a long life filled with good health, happiness, and wealth. God bless everyone.

Well the Leoville thing is getting stranger by the day. It is like a ghost town over there right now because of the move to Leo's new Fusion boards. Everyone who wants to be on the new board, has to sign up again. It is going to be a totally fresh start, and the old threads will not be moved over. So if anyone has favorite threads/info or saved PMs, that they want to keep, then they should hurry over to get them copied/printed before they are gone for good. I don't know how long the old boards will stay around either. Supposedly the board move from UBB to Fusion boards was to be next month I t

I think that is probably the standard OP of any place you might deal with, including your work place. As for any other place you put material, such as a message board, or website, etc, you need to read their policies carefully. In some way or other, I bet a good many have a policy (written or unwritten), or statement, such as this. Also schools, especially at the university level, probably have the right to anything you do there on their premises doing classes/experiments/inventions/and anything else the school would think is intellectually their property with an eye to developing something ma

Dear Mr. macmarauder, Actually the scientists said she was just burping yesterday, as she has for several months to a lesser extent. And with much evidence of intestinal distress from her many rumblings that were so intense, that they have registered as swarms of varying levels of earthquakes for months on seismographs, detected from the various patient sensors. Though she does have a bad habit of throwing the sensors off when she burps, or is mad and flings various parts around. Seven of them disappeared yesterday, and we are all hoping she didn't ingest them as that would probably make her f

I think this is the theroy behind Homeopathic remedies. That there is some residual part left after controlled division and dilution of a substance, that will heal various aliments, includiing severe allergies. Supposedly, as I understand it, when things are divided and diluted to certain points, then they will cease to trigger allergies, and in fact will trick the body into being cured of the orginal allergic reaction. Interesting idea, and many people seem to believe it works. I guess that is also the medical basis of vaccines too, to trigger the body's immune system to protect against a d

Sure glad to have you come over to the nicest boards around!!! It will take some getting used to after the high stress war zone you have been used to, but once you find out how peaceful a board can be, then I'm sure you will like it. We are low key, and even have fun here! Wow, what a concept for a board...right? Anyhow glad you are here, but please only invite those from that other board who will keep this board as nice as it is. We want it to stay low stress as much as possible!!! Can you tell I am a Leovillager too, and leary of some of that heated debate/fighting atmosphere transferring

Well here goes my extremely unscientific-minded answer I think they would both arrive at the same time, since some form of electrical energy is feeding both, and of course assuming the lights are turned on at exactly the same time. Once the light is lit, it would travel at the same speed....the speed of light which is a set measurement of 186,000 miles a second. By the way, I hated math thought problems in school and usually got them wrong due to my wierd way of thinking. Plus I always suspected all thought problems to be trick questions. God bless everyone.

Murtu is not only nice and polite, but has a good sense of humor which will help him deal with the rest of us. Yep he will be good for these boards along with the all the other new people!!! God bless everyone.
