ok i got it started i went back through your posts and i found one said said all connections and \addons the mouse had frozen and i found i had the mouse and the k-board in the wrong holes so i changed them and i was able to get to the bios ime now in the process of installing windows but ive already had a blue screen tho ime started again my the guy who owns this compt would have had a harder job than me and just as well i have the posters to rely on thanks good nees for that marty

hi TT prior to me getting it the sys had winxppro installed and was in use for some months the young man had it so full of spyware virus through playing on line games that the sys went static and he couldnt get into any programs when i got it i tried to go to the bios to set options but it wont let me in it just says checksun error i installed anew battery as it was saying the time and date was wrong you may be right about the memory sticks as one of the sticks was bloody hot so i removed it and inserted another but i still cant get to that bios would a virus take the sys over so i

ok i bought a new battery but i still get the checksun error the message says defaults are loaded press f1 or delete to go to the gios but nothing happens ime not that experienced with checksun i see in the google bot aads a fix for checksun but ime using my compt to read the board how do i transfer the fix to the other compt thanks marty

yes i had a feeling it may be the battery when i insatlled windows it was remninding me to reset the time and the date thankls you could be right ile try that thanks marty

ive been messing with this old p2 and ive just installed winxp but i keep getting this checksunerror and it wont let me past this point i cant get to the bios ime sure it is hardware but ime stumped it was going good when i installed but it has taken the sulks any ideas thanks marty

ok thanks for the replys i got it on a floppy by saving it as a text file some thing i found on one of petes links i haven done it before so it is a learning curve ive manily done it on a cd but a floppy is much more simple tho ime aware it only has a certain amount of space thanks al the same it dosent matter how long youve had a compt you never stop learning i believe more modern compt dont have a floppy drive so ide be lost there is there an alternative to a floppy on a modern compt marty

yes i agree with tt the laptop probably needs a new battery not replace the old one when tt asked about the time the important thing is the current time correct as well as the date if the date is wrong the compt will revert back to that time the goddam battery only costs 40cents marty
