  1. on the buget end I prefer the eMachines T6532. Room to upgrade and a lot of punch. http://reviews.cnet.com/eMachines_T6532/45...-2.html?tag=nav I have alway loved emachines a new Powersupply and a decent GPU and you are ready to frag with 90% of the gamers and the other 10% youwill never beat with out sponsorship anyway. I bought my first years ago as a backup family machine and sfter my Dell failed it became the work horse and never let me down. Preston
  2. First off YellowBook is a joke. They continue to rag Us (bellsouth) yet they don't have the common decency to design thier own logo. They have run with our concept. Yellow we started it , walking fingers we did it. The constantly steal from our art and design. If you can get a yellowpage ad it they have 87% of the target customer better designers (me for one). Second you need tools to design a logo: 1. a vector graphics and page layout program (with logos that need to be resized for different application only a vector image will maintain quality and the printer will prefer it). I use adobe Ill

  5. Problem solved it is amazing what you can do with a few hour sleep. The Option under settings/ advanced/display/ monitor (the ati control panel) allowed me to overide the refresh of monitor now it matches the settings/advanced/monitor settings. Thanks to all that had input. Preston
  6. Yes it was crazy expensive at the time but It was needed. I had just started doing freelance at home and it afforded me some serious realestate for that time period. Yes I tried a 17" samsung On this machine and it works fine. I have checked the cable. xxkbxx video driver updated today. Preston
  7. That is what I have not done thanks I would have never remembered to do that. Back in the old days of 98 that would have been the first thing I did.
  8. I have very bad flicker right now the Monitor says the current resolution is 1280x1024 at 60hz but Windows says 1280x1024 at 85hz (which is what it should be). This has alway been the resolution never had a problem. Until today any idea why this is happening. Also I had setup to not display harmful refresh rates now it does and the box is grayed out. This is a old Monitor but it has served well I would like to keep it. Any help on this would be appreciated. I have updated the Video driver but does not help. The only monitor driver available is win95. Window device manager at one time listed th
  9. you got a misbehaving driver or startup program. If you have installed any new programs use it's prefs to keep it from starting with windows. Update all you drivers. Use a startup manager to control programs that start with window.

  12. There are no big problems with Opera. Anyone who says its hard to use is either too lazy to stick with it until they get used to it, or too lazy to read the tutorials. As a LONG TIME Opera user, all I can say is,its fast, its lean, and its clean. Firefox(ouch) lasted about a week on my PC. Oh,and 'Mouse", Opera has been ad-free for awhile now. If you are looking for a serious, secure browser,Opera is what you want. If you believe all the Keven/Leo Firefox smooching propaganda, then stay with FF. AMEN!! HPoirot36. Over the years Opera has had it's issues like anything man made but it has never be
  13. by the way on the pages that say "this page can only be view with IE" many times you can get around it by going to tools/ quick preference/ then click on Identify as FF, opera or IE. Does not work all the time but will many more times than not.
  14. I use Opera almost exclusivley and have for many years now. It is a smaller DL than FF and come almost complete. FF you will need to DL extention. Opera is faster but FF has the upper had on handling website but they are usually sites that IE exclusive that I have problems with. The only thing I added to Opera was Spell Check and Speach. It has a decent mail client and chat feature. Opera perfect tabbed browsing way back when. Preston Yes I would switch but why make a choice? you have them both.
