out of the five I have own I have only had one PSU fail (of course from then on I replaced them on day one). I have not had any problem out of any of them with the exception of the funky power switch on this one. I found my first one at the dumpster (366mhz cyrix) it ran about a year before I replace the PSU and the processor with a 500mhz AMD it is still running to this day That was in 98 or 99. I will continue to buy them as long as I have to share a PC with my family. I don't feel cheated in the least. Statistically speaking there is no way any Commercial or custom computer maker can have 1

Power supplies.....yes.I've had several Emachines over the years, and worked on a bunch more. Never have I had to replace a motherboard. Not once. Never had onboard video or sound go bad. Ever. To the original poster...you might as well go ahead and replace the power supply now...you will have to eventually. Borrow a Video card from a friend or another computer, test it and see if this solves the problem, before you buy one. I've never heard of any MOBO issues either. They do then to eat Powersupplies.

I got him on it Matt thanks. I was kinda wondering about the .cab files there. I expect most (un-learned) IE users to have a ton of useless toolbars. My next step is to head over to TomCoyote and actuall learn more about Hijackthis it is long over due. Preston

I use Mozilla Thunderbird 1.5 as my primary email client. I have but one issue that up until now has not been an issue. When I reply to an email it ads the reply to the bottom of the page I would like to have it at the top. I have searched for the option many times to no avail. I think it is a issue of not seeing the forest for the trees. Please if anyone of you can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. Preston

Marty Do you have a copy of Knoppix? If you do you can use QTParted to remove all partitions and format the drive. Also hooking it upa as slave to another PC you can format from My computer by right clicking the drive and choosing to format it. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,1906548,00.asp Preston

You do not need a super Computer for flash, photoimpact or photoshop. The key will be the RAM the more the better. Program control (this mean knowing what you have and why the heck it is running at any given momment) Everything does not need to start with windows. I am employed as a computer graphic operator and I also do not use a MAC. My work PC is just a AMD XP 2200 (1.7 ghz) with a gig of RAM and a ATI Radeon 9200 (128 MB) graphic card. I have open all the time Adobe PhotoShop and Adobe Illustrator, Streamline, and MusicMatch I feel no slow down at all. you may need more kick for the video

Thanks for the suggestion Dragon but there is one little problem....I only have 2 slots with 64 megs in each slot so I would have to buy 2 modules with 128 megs...I'm saving up for another computer but it will be several months. Could you not just install to HDD? This would reduce the require ram to 32mb in ubuntu.

if you buy commercial you should expect to get junk. I just know I will have to clean it out and do it. My Compaq Laptop I just did a clean install after I registered. Install all my drivers and avoided all the junk. Good thing Compaq gives you a actual copy of XP (on disc not a hidden partition). AMEN

Remove Annoying Delete Confirmation Messages - Not safe if you're careless. I agree 100%. I cannot tell you how many times this has saved me esspecially since I tend to bypass the recycle bin out of habit (I delete very large file or many at a time weekly) Preston

Subject: Amazingly Simple Home Remedies 1. If you are choking on an ice cube, don't panic. Simply pour a cup of boiling water down your throat and presto, the blockage will be almost instantly removed. 2. Clumsy? Avoid cutting yourself while slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold them while you chop away. 3. Avoid arguments with the Mrs. about lifting the toilet seat by simply using the sink. 4. For high blood pressure sufferers: simply cut yourself and bleed for a few minutes, thus reducing the pressure in your veins. Remember to use a timer. 5. A mouse trap, placed on top of your

turning on clear type option if it is not on is also a good Idea: Turn on ClearType Font-Rendering Technology Published: July 16, 2001 Submitted by Kevin Konikowski, Tolland, Connecticut Get that extra text clarity you've always wanted. The incredible Microsoft ClearType® technology can be enabled in Windows XP to smooth all fonts at all sizes, making the whole system so much easier to read. I don't know how I lived without it! To turn on ClearType: 1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Appearance and Themes. 2. Click the Display icon, click the Appearance tab, and then click E

75- 85mghz is usually high enough some monitors cannot handle the refresh rate higher. Usually the setting beyond capability will not be displayed as a option but I have seen dangerous refresh rate displayed as a option. I have my brightness down to 65% occassionally lower. Preston

TymeKyller I offer my prayers for your friend's family and I also will send up a prayer for you. That you have peace in the stormy times. Fear is something no one should have to live with as a norm. May the peace that passes all understanding fall upon you. God Bless Preston

Which I have both, Bose Puter speakers and Pioneer HDJ-1000 headphones. http://www.djdeals.com/pioneerHDJ1000.htm Theres somethings you can skimp on, other things I won't..I can afford the F-Xi's with no problem..If you can't afford a single CNote for quality, then unplug your puter and strap on that AM Mono to your ears and enjoy.. I have found that a decent set of Cans and speakers are far more important than a super high-end audio card. I have over the years bought some relatively expensive sound cards because I listen to and archive tons of Mainstream Jazz (no Kenny G here just real jazz)

My Eyes Hurt! Crt Vs Lcd Opinions Needed.
rhema7 replied to HPoirot36's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
85% of PC users have there CRT screen too bright you might try adjusting it also your refresh rate maybe too low. I find anything below 75mhz gives me a headache mine is set at 85mhz. If it can support it set it higher. Most modern PC support upto 85Mhz. I know people who get seizures at 60mhz. Preston -
Try some clear nail polish on the gaming keys (WSAD etc.) This helps may need touching up from time to time.
