I agree a little I believe you can be just as effiecent with Open Office. For the average user there will be no difference. I have templates and APA style plugins for my wife to use in school that do not work with OpenOffice so I cannot get rid of M$ Office as of yet. I should have added a disclaimer to my previous post to state that it was not necessarily my oppinion. I think out of all that post it was just to point out that it could be installed on more than one machine. I use Office 2000 Professional because it was given to me as a gift years ago so I will continue to use it though I have

Don't even think about an emachines unless you need a toilet no offense to Emachines users I own several emachines a couple are modified but one is stock I have yet to have one quit that I did not destroy in my PC infancy. I even had one catch fully on fire, I put it out tore out the offending PS and worked great. Emachines are not for everyone but they are not the junk that many people label them to be. Ever commercial brand has bad ones get out the door and someone will get it but if you find one Counterfeit dollar bill does that mean all dollar bills are counterfeit. I was soured on Com

I'll third it. A basic emachine will serve you very well for what you want to do.

How Do I Get New Fonts For Word?
rhema7 replied to REMIX_23's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
one word of warning if you have a system with low resources addinf a ton of font will slow you down because M$ loads them all in memory when you start Word. -
I don't get any junk mail in my comcast accounts and I have had it for over 4 years. I fine that most people get spam due to practices of there own. Filling out web forms for free stuff on the web. Using a simple address, replying to the remove from mailing list link. If you have [email protected] you will get more spam than [email protected]. Get a couple of junk accounts that you give to those you don't want to know your main account addy. This alone has been my best defense against spam.

TO GOD - FROM THE DOG: Dear God: Why do humans smell the flowers, but seldom, if ever, smell one another? Dear God: When we get to heaven, can we sit on your couch? Or is it still the same old story? Dear God: Why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cougar, the mustang, the colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not ONE named for a dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around? We do love a nice ride! Would it be so hard to rename the "Chrysler Eagle" the " Chrysler Beagle"? Dear God: If a dog barks his head off in the forest and no human hears him, is he still a bad dog? Dear God:

Looking To Upgrade From Prosavage To ?

I can see no problems with any of the AGP cards I see, but as I stated the Powersupply will beyond doubt need to be changed. Preston -
Looking To Upgrade From Prosavage To ?
rhema7 replied to kidcnote's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Thanks Anti - Maybe someone here knows or has used some cards they could recommend...I don't know where to start.. I use a ATI 9200 but that was a couple of years ago. Before you upgrade the GPU get a new Powersupply a new GPU will put a strain on the the tiny Powersupply common to all emachines. This is esspecially so for nvidia card they tend to require more power but even the old ATI 9200 I have will tax the Standard Powersupply of a emachine. (I love emachines the PS has always been the weakness). Preston -
Looking To Upgrade From Prosavage To ?
rhema7 replied to kidcnote's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
I cannot decide if you are asking or advising here. If you are advising you need to post a reply to the post you are refering to. If you are asking how to disable the onboard Graphics it is Obvious in the BIOS if you boot into it. I have basically the same system had it done in 5 secs 2years ago. For those who cannot afford a new GPU and do not need gaming perfomance (like you'd get from the savage) you can adjust to 16mb instead of 32mb which is adequate to do most common stuff. Preston -
JetAudio Plus for most everything. I also use it to archive my Jazz in .FLAC or .APE format (can't decide what I like the most I Lean to FLAC) then I can burn them without loss in quality. The only reason I use any other media player is when I listen to MusicMatch Jukebox On demand radio.

Sorry I could not help myself

I use Jetaudio I prefer the sound quality over WMP, WinAmp, or MusicMatch (though I use MMJ to listen to streamed audio but that is only becuase I subscribe). http://www.snapfiles.com/get/jetaudio.html Preston

Go to you local Walmart or Kmart to the Automotive department (you can go to local grocery store in the cleaning supplies but you will pay more for two than you would for 8 at wally world) and look for 3M® Microfiber cloths™ (they don't have to be name brand) These work on LCDs and CRTs. Just dampen one (wring out almost dry) wipe the screen the follow up with a dry one. I have maintained my Laptops and Desktops this way for years (at least since 3M started making the cloths they were expensive then now 8 for 3 buck). You can also detail your car interior with just water with them, dust, rem

Downloading And Converting Rm Files?
rhema7 replied to Jedi5's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Adjust the record level (in jet audio the slider beside the source area in the record function area) and also the .Wav in your sound controls you may not want to adjust the wav level too high or the gain will muddy the sound. You will need to play with this untill you get the optimum sound the good news is once you found your settings they will work on most all your recording. I record a hour or 2 of Mainstream Jazz (real Jazz) daily from http://www.wmot.org/ to keep me company at work. Preston -
Downloading And Converting Rm Files?
rhema7 replied to Jedi5's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Use rel player to play the RM file use JetAudio to record the stream as a Mp3. This is the simplest way I know but time consuming if your recording alot because you must listen to entire stream. Preston -
Are you sure that your MOBO can handle PCI express? Also check the Power requirements emachines don't have a adaquate Powersupply. I have a W2247 emachine and have owned many all I have repalce the Powersupply in all. The nivdia cards use quit a bit of Power. Do yourself a favor and change the Power supply 400watts atleast (better to have to much than too little). I play HL2 / Farcray / UT 2004 with no problems on the emachine with 1gig ram/ XP 2200/ ATI 9200 (128mb) GPU/ 450watt powersupply. You will never be able to compete with the big boyz in tourneys but pickup game will be no problem. Pr

I want to install Beos on a old IBM Thinkpad 380XD laptop. Specs are: No OS 96mb RAM 5Gig HD 266mhz This was top of the line in it's day (not many 96MB RAM win95 machine that I have found plus it has a 6gig removable HD) The keyboard does not work well particularly the ESC and the G keywill not work. It is pretty clean so I'm thinking contact is not a problem. If it is a driver issue how would I install them because they would need to be BIOS level. It will boot from CD. I guess my question is do you think a BIOS update will help bring functionality back to the Keyboard? Preston
