during a boot time scan of a associates notebook I removed almost 20 trojans so I cannot remember what was running from the C:\WINDOWS\Fonts but now there are hidden files mostly movie titles .zip files. I calculated the list of fonts and it should contain 95mb of fonts yet Properties on the folder says 2.83 gig. a few people on the net have had this problem but none have given any good answer what to do. Folder options do no good. I have never seen this before and I would like to return the notebook soon. XP home Dell Inspirion 9300 2g ram 2GHZ pent. Centrino 160g HDD

My experience with vista is neither good or bad. The system ran find but my reflex memory wanted XP Vista was just different enough to slow me down. I have no doubt in time I could learn to be as efficient. I just intalled Win7 beta today and My conclusion the same given I could use it with no remorse. I have yet to crunch a spread sheet or Use Adobe CS3. I will let you know how it handles this. So far the cool stuff is just astetic, Since I have no Vista to compare. It is almost as fast as My XP install but I have had years to get it tuned. I save judgement for later. Preston

I never delete automaticlly so I feel safe using it. I myself have seen so perfectly good but cluttered Installs messed up but it has a place in my personal tool box. RegClean is my usual program because it is portable. I rarely use on my PC, But has help with others. You are right for the average user not a good idea. But it does give an overview of what are potential problem areas. I did hand clean for year this just locate many areas of intrest without hitting F3 over and over. My personal review as of late is: • Very clean interface • Fast • Backup feature • From what I have seen has

CORSAIR has the better rep I have never heard of the others before. If you can get a good warranty on the with the cheaper one the it may be worth it. If you want cut your risk CORSAIR is the way to go. Expensive yeah but it buys piece of mind. I personally would try the inexpensive stuff but I would never advise anyone to do so. Preston

I hear this problem after the second tuesday of every month the day after M$ updates. Most times I roll back the display driver and it works. At least on the three PCs I'm call on every month. Once I roll back I install a fresh drive from ATI or nVidia which ever maybe the case. Also if you have a stand alone card removing it and cleaning the contacts can also help if it is a connection issue. I noticed your little emachine is under RAM'd for my taste. I you have a onboard graphic (that shares memory) there could be some issues there also, like other Hardware and or software competing for avai

I have always been a big fan of Comodo (I leave the defense mode off it is annoying) Hey I noticed in the commonly rec. Programs pin the left out Inkscape (a nice vector graphics program simular to Adobe Illustrator or freehand) http://inkscape.org/download/ and Scribus http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.p...ckage_id=136924 (page layout/ desktop publishing) In the graphics area. Ad these two to in conjuction with GIMP and you have a powerful answer to the costly Adobe Creative Suite (nothing wrong with Adobe CS" but the average person may not want to pay for something there will use f

Kinda long the lines I was thinking Pete. As an advertising professional we tend to trust adobe. Many great apps are overlooked and shuned by corprate IT departments because for wht ever reason Open source or freeware is a legal kiss of death. I fear my company would look at Google apps as just another open source licensing nightmare. At least there is a clearcut terms of use with adobe apps. Preston

Let me get this straight to have duel monitors but you are using separate GPUs 1. the onboard 2. the install card. you need to turn off the onboard graphics you should have outputs for 2 monitors on the installed card you may need to find DVI to VGA converter or a VGA to DVI converter tpo do this depending upon you monitor.

You should be able to find the backup file and right click it and choose merge this will reintergrate with the registry. You can make your own backups for added safety: 1. got to start 2. select run 3. type regedit click OK 4. file/ export 5. choose where you want to save to ( I save to a separate drive, external or jumpdrive)

Not sure I would have ever thought of that. If I can expand to a different location then the destination is bad? would running Scandisk from CMD Prompt help if say there are errors preventing the destination from receiving? We have decided to pull the HDDs and use a USB adaptor to retrieve personal info to har new computer. She bought. I was wondering if Cyberpower put an admin password on before they shipped. Her new PC is coming from there also and it would be nice to know if they have. Preston -
