  1. yep i saw marsh on g4. now with chappy, i still email him joke and so on. sorry to hear his diabetes has gone crazy. hopefully he'll be back.
  2. ok, is your system 64 bit or 32 bit? running 64 bit on a 32 bit system will have problems. another thing, you say you are downloading, so that means you are using leaked versions of win7 that are not the gold version. that is another way of having problems. the win7 is coming out gold soon. the RC version is not the gold version, but a version that is released before the gold version, and the first gold releases will go to OEM venders. then the upgrades will come out next to the consumer and then the full retail versions will be out
  3. how many differant changes have you done with the xp cd? you are only allowed 7 hardware changes. if this xp cd is the first XP without the service packs, and you are trying to install on a SATA hard drive that would also be a problem. you have to use service pack 2 to insxtall on a SATA hard drive. service pack 1 and the first XP will not load on a SATA HARD DRIVE by itself.
  4. are you using an OEM cd or are you using a retail version? and there is a possibility that you are missing files needed to load the OS properly.
  5. it is a gnu compression program. you can find info here, http://www.google.com/search?client=safari...-8&oe=UTF-8
  6. ok, firsty, you must be connecting to a network, right? if so, have you gone back through and try to set up a new connection? do you have the dchp enabled for your connection? do you let windows set up your ip or do you set it manually?
  7. well, it has been bout a year now. i have used boot camp, slipstreamed my CORP XP PRO with SP2. funny thing is i tend to use the mac more now. strange, it is accually easier than i thouhgt it would be. did take a little time to learn all the short cuts, but having to not have an anti virus program running has been the big change. things are working out alot better. i have heard there will be a version of co pilot which is a mapping and gps program that right now for trucks on a pc will soon be available for mac. so now that i have used it for a year now, i am thinking of converting my roomy
  8. go to this page http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/repair_xp.htm scroll down near bottom of page and there are links there to help find your XP product key.
  9. what program or drivers have you installed lately? what is the stop error message you are recieving? knowing the stop error message will help in fixing the problem. you must have downloaded or installed something that is not compatible.
  10. Hi All, thanks for the birthday wish. i was on the road on my birthday, but i am home to celabrate today.
  11. if the hard drive was reformatted, then pretty much you are SOL. now there is a program that is used by the law enforcement that i believe it can sort of get some info from reformatted hard drives. but it is very expensive, and only available to the law enforcement agencies. there is no program to recover files once the hard drive has been reformatted. if the files were just deleted then the answer would be yes.
  12. listening to the lockridge report on sirius 147, the road dog channel. i listen to 147 til 3pm then i listen to the nascar channel 128.
  13. i heard Alien Ware makes a good gaming laptop.
  14. if you downloaded a .exe file you just double click on it. but, do not use the rtm file. XP SP3 is not ready for the public yet. there are a few bugs in it. that is why it is delayed to the public. what you downloaded is a leaked version of the XP SP3 RTM, and it was released to the manufactures. but there are bugs in it. just like the vista service pack that was released to the public, it had problems with the drivers not being compatible. that is the same problem now with the rtm. if you decide to install it, do at your own risk. the official release is not expected til the end of may or the
  15. you do know that XP SP3 is not available to the public yet. it is on hold. read this link, http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/arti...ows_xp_sp3.html so what you are downloading is not the gold version. it might be that the rc version may have been locked from installing it or the beta version is locked because of the soon to be released version from MS.
  16. what operating system do you have? vista? or XP? how much ram? what is starting up at start up? you find this in the start up folder, and in msconfig, start up.

    Sultan

sultan, i am so sorry for your loss. my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
  18. It's third-party drivers that are fault, isn't it? It's been known for at least a couple months that SP1 includes a kernel update (to synchronize with Server 2008) and that often means drivers need to be updated. It's not Microsoft's fault that other companies suck. the fault is lying with the service pack adn drivers for prebuilt systems. they include the sigmatel audio, ac97 audio, and there aer others as well as the audigy sytems. there are others hardware driver problems too. if you check out the links, adn there are links inside the articles, that tells the problem with the hardware dri
  19. from another board, i posted a message about the Vista SP1, and IMHO, do not download and install yet. there is a problem. alot of people are having a problelm with the service pack. here is what i posted, read before installing Vista SP1 Posted: Mar 21, 2008 7:15 PM Edit Reply here are a couple of links as to why you should not install the Vista SP1, adn it looks like Microsoft screwed up again. http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,143708-pg,1/article.html and this link from MS http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=948343#method5it is about the drivers that will cause a problem . loo
  20. i haev a mac book pro and i tried to add some files from it to a hard drive i haev that was formatted NTFS, but here is the deal, mac is not formatted NTFS, it can read the ntfs files and fat32 files but can not write to them cause the mac files system is much differant from MS
  21. just besure to unplug the tower before opening it up.
  22. right now, till the bugs are all worked out of vista, it would be a better idea to convert those PCs to XP. with the so called new security that was put into vista, and with it always asking if you want to do something. so if you can get ahold of a copy of XP and even more a corporate version, that would be the thing to do. vista has its problems, and going to xp on those PCs would make it alot simpler, and give less headaches.
  23. the only reason the 58 would sound warmer, is the ball with the extra windscreen. i even used them in recording also. but to the average ear, there is not a noticable differance. i also worked on a recording we did for an event that we played at. it took a month and 2 4 track recorders to get the recording ready for air play by the local rock station to promote event. it was a street dance for railroad days in 1986.
  24. wellk maybe the Bose of today might, but th eBose 901s are the tops. they are a one of a kind speaker. they had i believe 9 or 12 speakers inside the cabnet. ofcourse though you needed something to add more low end. the one thing about bose was little low end. now as for the SM57 and SM 58 microphones, i can tell you from experience, i have used them both. i ran sound for a local rock band for 3 1/2 years. i used many differnat mics but found that the best for stage work is the sm57. i used them on drums, the guitar amps, and even used them for vocals. the only differance between the two was t
  25. i guess i will have to play with it. i have a large library of MP3s that i transfered from an external hard drive that i use for back up storage. i tried to load multiple songs at once but i have not found how yet. guess i could try copy and paste multiple files to it. i will play with it more.
