"HELP" microsoft windows have all changed
cherokeechief replied to kputman's topic in Malware Removal
did you upgrade to windows 7? or did you get a win7 pc and transfer files? win7 does not come with an email program or an office program. have you installed and ran malwarebytes anti malware program and ran it? if not, that may be the first thing that flash or pete will ask for. download the free version and run it from desktop, then post the log you get after it runs. flash4 or petec will be able to help if you have an infection. -
this will hit mac users also. but with a mac it is easy to remove it. I searched online and it is quite simple to do. the info is at this link, http://botcrawl.com/how-to-remove-apple-fbi-cyber-department-virus/ so with macs it is affecting them but can be removed.

Dying Priest’s Last Request... In Washington , D.C. . an old priest lay dying in the hospital. For years he had faithfully served the people of the nation's capital and was well known among the elected officials. He motioned for his nurse to come near. Yes, Father?" said the nurse. "I would really like to see President Obama and Senator Reid before I die," whispered the priest. "I'll see what I can do, Father", replied the nurse. The nurse sent the request to The President and Congress and waited for a response. Soon the word arrived; President Obama and Harry Reid would be delighted to

are you sure teh optical connection on the tv is an out or an in? it sounds like the optical on the tv is an input, and not an output. that is why it is possibly not working. if you have like a dvd player with an optical out on it try it and see if it works on the pc. but i am betting that either the connection on the tv is an input only. did you look at the settings for the audio card?

are you using a volume copy of XP, or did you use a retail version then cloned all of the hard drives from the one key? with you using 15 machines, you should have a volume license to use the same XP cd in all of the machines. cloning one drive to use in all of the machines may be part of the problem. if you read the EULA, you would understand, that XP takes a snap shot of the inventory. including the serial numbers of the mother board, and hard drive. are you using multiple routers, or a router with alot of connections? did you assign ip addresses to each machine or did you let windows selec

Windows 7 upgrade wont reboot successfully
cherokeechief replied to StealthG's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
first, was vista preinstalled? or did you install it? second, do you have the vista dvd? if you do, boot from the dvd, and at the first prompt, it will give you 2 options, 1)repair, and 2) install. choose repair, then when you get to the dos prompt, type in fixmbr and hit enter then type in fixboot and hit enter, then exit., this will fix the problem of having the 2 start up options. as for the video, open up the tower and take the video card out and reinstall it and make sure it is secure. as for the upgrade to windows 7, did you make sure your PC was Win 7 ready? if you had an XP machine tha -
i shall miss gary as well. i did not know him as well as marsh, but i do remember him from the old TechTV days, and when he went over to G4 and here. i always wondered what happened to him. i always kept looking for him to pop up with his funny wit, and even funnier pics. he will be missed, but IMO he is looking down at us and thinking what a way to be remembered. may he rest in peace, and god bless.

Comcast Internet Not Connecting
cherokeechief replied to slayer1927's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
i have comcast and i have never had to use their software to connect. look in the properties of your network connection and make sure it is set to find your IP address and on the other tab it is set to let windows find the other settings. i even have a wireless router and have not had to use any of the comcast software. it will brand your brouser, and it will possibly want you to enter a user name and password to connect, which you do not need. double check your firewall settings. it could be your firewall blocking the access. -
Dead HD in HP Slimline Desktop.
cherokeechief replied to jdpatel's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
well, hp does not send any disks with their PCs anymore because there is a recovery partition on the hard drive that has all that info. and OS. to get to it you hit F10 at start up to enter it. the recovery CDs should be free from HP if you were the original owner. if you can not even enter the recovery program, and did determine the HDD is dead, then when HP sends you the CD set, after installing the new hard drive, you just start by putting the first cd in and it will tell you to change the CDs each time you need to. the it will start to reinstall everything like it was when you got it new. -
did you check the connection if it is wired in the back of the tower?

Virus Is Too Big To Be Removed?
cherokeechief replied to lfshadow's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
i have come across that nasty little burger. i had to download and run it from the administrator account in safe mode though. then ran it in normal mode. also i ran spybot also to get rid of a few things that malwarebytes missed. but it is a nasty trojan. avg and even mcafee will not stop it. it is like the antivirus 2009, xp antivirus, and so on. it takes over your system and you will lose control of it. you will not even be able to get online if it went too long. -
yes with vista they replaced outlook express with windows mail. there is no way to use outlook express in vista. that is one reason i went back to XP on the emachine i got which had vista.

well the air cards are what the wireless phone providers are using. each one has air cards available. and have usually 2 types of service. they have a 50mb and a 5gig service. when you go over that, you have to pay for the extra usage. if you are just emailing and surfing, you would be fine. but if you are going to download and upload videos, then it is not what you want. some businesses have wifi available, but it is through their servers. and they would have limitations on what you could do, since it is their service.

i remember in teh old days before broadband was more available you could put an extra nic card in the pc and use it as the connection to other PCs. this was done because of dial up. to network to other PCs, the first PC would connect to teh dial up and then the rest would connect to that PC through teh network card.
