New Vista Install But A Coupla Probs
Honda_Boy replied to Honda_Boy's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
I have a plan: I'm gonna take my old rig's WD 250GB and hook it up to this system. I'm recover anything necessary (which shouldn't be much considering My Documents was stored on another drive) and I'm gonna do a full format. Then, I'll shut the system off, remove the Seagate 320GB and install Vista to the WD. My theory is it had something to do with the formating considering how little time the Vista install disc spent dealing with it (3 seconds, i kid you not. Last I remember a full format in prep for installing XP takes 20-45 minutes). That and there's a possibility there's something not qui -

well now it has settled down but even when idle, it was going like crazy. Still I feel like I wasted my money on it. At least when I got the package from Newegg, this wasn't the only thing in the box. The Logitech G11 Gaming Keyboard was well worth the money I paid for it and I don't even use the G-keys. Still I'm at a loss as to why everything is running so poorly on this new system when it WAY more powerful than my old one. Even Vista on my laptop runs better, granted it's the 32-bit Home Basic but still man. Something is amiss somewhere. -

wow, just when I thought I was gonna have one of the best builds ever, this one turned out to be a pain. Vista 64 on it sucks and whether it's on Vista or XP, for some weird reason StepMania has slowdowns. It runs better without SLI on but for some reason it still runs into slow downs and I don't know why. Also I believe the AMD dual core optimizer is a 32 bit only app. The EAX stuff still don't work right in SP1. I'm really startin to think I wasted my money on a 64-bit OS. Even though I have 4GB of ram I probably shoulda gone 32-bit. Plus I can't figure out why videos don't work right in my -

well I have 4GB of RAM so I went 64-Bit. i'm gonna install the service pack tonight and see if that fixes some problems. I've also run into another problem but since it's to do with the Combined Community Codec Pack, I asked on their forums. -

Also, I can't get the AMD Dual Core Optimizer to install either. Is that only needed for XP? -

OK, it was indeed SLI causing the problem in StepMania. I turned it off (somehow without restarting the system, I guess that was just an XP thing with the new drivers) and the game ran fine. Now I noticed recently that the clicks from Windows Explorer weren't really playing. Instead I was just getting crackling. But I could play music fine and stuff. It appears that some sounds aren't working properly so I'm gonna assume there was a problem in the driver install. I think I'll completely uninstall the sound drivers and reinstall them. -

Ran into another prob but this ain't just from Vista. It's very strange that StepMania actually runs WORSE on my new system than my old one AND my laptop. First off StepMania is not in the least taxing on a modern system yet songs with videos in the background cause a slow down. I kinda figured going from an Athlon 64 3500+ with 1GB of RAM to an X2 6000+ with 4GB, I wouldn't have this trouble. It's the same twin GeForce 7600GT's my last system had. It did this in both XP and Vista on the new rig. The only difference I can think of is Video drivers. On the old rig I had it with the old 9x.xx se -

Well never mind on the login here. I replaced my FireFox App Data with the App Data from my old rig to recover my bookmarks and it fixed that problem. Still I wonder why I can't get EAX Advanced EQ. I can only get Environments and I don't want them. Really I just need to get an X-Fi but a new exhaust for the car, power supply, and video card come first. -
Well the Buddy Club is smaller than the one I have. Straight through exhausts are less restrictive but some are just ridiculous. There are many like A'PEXi's Noir and World Sport exhausts that have a completely different look but honestly I just don't like the World Sport and I can't find a Noir that's just the Muffler. What a coincidence, I saw a Crapalier with a dual exhaust today too. You know ALL Altimas now come with dual exhaust factory 4 banger or V6. Even then a lot of modders will take something like a 350Z and give it a single exhaust (cause dual is, well, unnecessary).

I formatted my hard drive and installed Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit today and have run into a couple of problems. First is my sound. I have a Soundblaster Audigy 2ZS (Still. Man, I have this card forever. This is the 4th system I've had it in). I installed the Vista drivers from Creative which give me the same Creative Audio Console I had in XP but on the EAX tab there's only environment enhancements. I believe in XP I had 4 or 5 categories. My favorite to leave it set in was Rock under the Advanced EQ. I've tried reinstalling the drivers but that didn't work. I had this happen once in X

new Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit desktop for the new main rig. I've changed it already. More icons, no gadgets/sidebar.

These exhausts are designed to be legal and remain within certain sound levels. Emissions wise, there are no inspections in my county but from the Catalytic converter back makes no difference in emissions. And Honda has assembly lines in Japan, US, and Canada for US and Canadian spec vehicles. Most Coupes from 92-00 were produced in the US with a bunch in Canada (my old car was assembled in the US) and the hatches were all made in Canada. A lot of my interior has Made in the US written on it though. What's funny though is even US cars are called ricers. I see riced out Cavaliers and Focuses al

What do you mean by that? Also, why rice burner? My car is Canadian Seriously though I wanna know why needing exhaust repair makes you say "rice burners" amuse you.
-
Been a while huh? A new problem has risen. Though it's good in a way. I've been wanting a new exhaust. Well today I started my car at work and was outside making sure my passenger window closed right for the car wash (undercarriage to get the salt off) and I heard a metallic rattling in the back. I lay down under the car and find that one of my muffler hangers had rusted through and broke off. So now there is a large hole in the support there. I'm gonna have to have that hole patched. Well I figured, screw fixin the stuff for this exhaust and get a new can. Then take the can to a shop and have

I came across this one: FSP 800W Modular and this one: PC Power and Cooling 750W Continuous non-modular I'm thinking of narrowing it down to these 2. I may still look at that 620W Corsair and Maybe the 700W OCZ but I've had Forton and like it, and I've heard a lot of good about PC Power and Cooling.

Purchasing Ram (pc2 6400)
Honda_Boy replied to Besttechie's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
If you have an ASUS board, you can't go wrong with Corsair. I'm glad I got the RAM I did now. There's a promo code from Newegg right now that makes the 2GB (2x 1GB) RAM $48. here's what I have: 4GB Corsair XMS2 PC2 6400 and here's what the promo code is for 2GB Corsair XMS2 PC2 6400 -
We've got some old Radio shack cabinet speakers (4 of them) like what ya'll are talkin about. They are more than 30 years old but we still use them on our Entertainment system. They still sound great.

I'm in the market for a new PSU for my new rig. Right now it's running off of my old rig's FSP (Forton Source) Saga 450W ATX12V 24-pin PSU. That's fine for now but soon it's gonna need some more punch. It's gonna need to be able to power an Athlon X2 6000+ (125W) on an ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe Wireless edition, with an 8800GT (or maybe a 9800GT if they come out soon), 2 SATA Hard drive, 2 IDE or SATA DVD Burners, 3 120MM fans, 1 200MM fan, and a Soundblaster X-Fi. There's also the possibility of SLI (which I am running right now but with twin 7600GT's). I plan to only spend in the neighborhood of

No Need To Activate Xp?
Honda_Boy replied to irregularjoe's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
That's weird cause my old HP laptop required the CD-Key when I reinstalled on it but I can't remember if I had to activate or not. For me what was strange was I was able to make XP Home SP2 activate on a PC (white box) over the internet using the Key from another PC (HP, Home SP1) without any trouble. Usually I had to call M$ and explain to them what I was doing (using SP2 CD with SP1 key, usually on the same computer as the key but since the PC the key was on was dead, I used it for another PC) and get the activation code from them. -
Finally got it working: import java.util.Scanner; public class threems{ public static void main(String Args[]){ Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in); int x; int sum = 0; int mean; int xCounter = 0; int max = 0; int min = 10000; System.out.print("Enter values to determine Max, Min, and Mean: "); x = input.nextInt(); while (x != -1) { sum = sum + x; xCounter = xCounter + 1; while (x > max) { max = x; } while (x < min) { min = x; } System.out.print("Enter next Value or -1 to quit: "); x = input.nextInt(); } if (xCounter !=

Purchasing Ram (pc2 6400)
Honda_Boy replied to Besttechie's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
looks to be good and certainly a better price than what I paid for my Corsair XMS2 4GB PC6400. I picked what I got cause it was on my list for compatible RAM and it was also the recommended memory for the board by ASUS. I paid about $120 for mine. -
Looking For A Good Cd/dvd Buring Utility
Honda_Boy replied to Honda_Boy's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Oh, cool. Thanks! I tried CDBurnerXP but when it starts it only asks if I wanna burn a DataCD/DVD or an Audio CD. I never saw a video DVD option. Maybe one of the others has it. If they don't I may have to resort to Nero for video DVD's (I don't burn them that often anyway, takes forever). -
OK, something from my last class popped up in my head. I remember him talking about that, I just can't remember how to test them. I think I forgot to write it down (damn ADD.....and 3 hour long class).

Looking For A Good Cd/dvd Buring Utility
Honda_Boy posted a topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
I'm trying to find a new CD/DVD burning utility for my new PC. It's still using the same ole Office Max bought Lite-On DVD burner as my old one. All I have is the Nero 6 that came with it and my laptop has some kind of Roxio on it that I was thoroughly unimpressed with. The Nero is more or less OK, but if I update it, it seems to give bad burns particularly with audio CD's and video DVD's and it once produced what me and my friend dubbed the "Demon Spawn DVD"*. But un-updated, it seems to work more or less fine. Still. (Note that this was on my old PC, I haven't burned anything on the new PC y
