    Flying

"Uh, su-u-u-re ... I'm your flight instructor ... You pass ... so-o-o-o, fly over the fires so I can get some pics."
  2. ... Like that joke: A guy's in a bathroom stall and someone in the next stall says, "So, what are you doing today?" Uh, ok, a bit uncomfortable, but, "Oh, nothing much, a little shopping." From the next stall, "Yeah, let's go out for dinner at that new place, when can I pick you up?" Uh-oh, "I don't even know you, why ... " He's interrupted by the guy in the next stall, "I'll have to call you back, there's a guy in the next stall that keeps trying to talk to me."
  3. Edit: As I used the system it got sluggish and I found McAfee was trying, yet again, to complete an update. Daily updates usually take a few seconds to a few minutes, this time it was taking much longer. I decided to let 'er rip and see what I get. It updated successfully, so ... I guess I'll put off the inevitable a little longer. ----- My virus scanner (McAfee) tried to update and failed. I tried everything and I believe they simply do not support 9x any more. They have a "legacy" app section for 9x, but that failed to install too. Fine, it's time to get rid of it anyway, so I downlo
  4. As it stands they got a toilet they can't use and a cell phone they better NOT use!
  5. Groan! (I mean, uhh, oh nevermind!)
  6. Tuesday 5/7: One hour (1) (Didn't make it one month ... ) Sometime after midnight on Saturday 6/28: A few minutes (I reckon, as I wasn't home). Made it over a month!
  7. You guys and your "cheap" gas! I filled up a few days ago at $4.18 so naturally, now that my tank is full, it has since "dropped" to $4.07.
  8. Well, if you're gonna list online subscriptions to newsletters and the like ... fuggetaboutit, too many to list! I skim 'em for interesting articles, who would have the time to read 'em all!

Patience! I recently ordered a gadget and it took probably a week (or more) for the charge to appear, and, like they always say, "Four to Six Weeks for delivery," and yup, it took six weeks to get it. That's a long time sitting around waiting for something, but it is, or it was, common practice for mail order (and by extension, online orders). Lots of places are quicker but as you say, you generally have to pay more.
  10. That's kind of a good point, but sometimes it's tough to find reliably good sites. Blogs work for some stuff, manufacturer's sites for some, and, ironically, magazine sites for their speciality (though you sometimes have to subscribe to get the good stuff). Where would you go, for example, to get information on Radio Control products?
  11. The power supply fan. After two days of not being able to sleep much I want some peace and quiet, hopefully I can get some sleep today.
  12. I'm short on time today but from seeing the URL I can add that BMW is as far along with Hydrogen as anybody, they've had many prototypes already. ------ I better add: Honda is also as far along as anyone, and they've got cars in the hands of specially selected consumers! -----
  13. I like it! I assume that blur is a phone number. What? You don't trust us?
  14. Because I'm smart: Forbes, National Geographic and Scientific American. Because I'm savvy: Consumer Reports. Because I love cars: Automobile, Car and Driver and Road & Track (when I was younger, Motor Trend, but it's of such insufficient quality I let that lapse). Because I'm politically active: The American Rifleman, The Limbaugh Letter and The Weekly Standard (conservative news and analysis, WAY too verbose, one article might be seven or eight pages of small, close-spaced, three column type, though it was intellectually stimulating when I had the time to read it, I let that one lapse)
  15. Still thinking about Clannad so I listened to Enya, Paint The Sky With Stars, which put me in a mellow mood so now, The Moody Blues, A Question Of Balance.
  16. Good one! Saw Adam Levine doing a live acoustic perfomance on the local morning news so: Maroon 5, Songs About Jane
  17. I "get" it, but I don't get it.
  18. I get itchy and buy new CDs in fits and spurts. I might go months without buying any, then buy a bunch. I'm STILL in that record club thingy (I was in it when they actually HAD records), so when they have sales I am tempted even more (I'd say I pay, on average, eight bucks for CDs, I'd like to think it's even less, many have been "free," but sometimes I splurge on the expensive ones). I believe I'm at over five hundred CDs at this point. I don't steal, but if someone gives me a copy that I "Simply MUST listen to!", I'm not gonna throw it back in their faces, so I have a few burned CDs around
  19. Twelve years of doing nothing for great pay? What was THAT? If it wasn't the military I want in! More than you wanted to know about my job: I work in a riverboat casino and my title is "slot floorperson." The most visible thing I do is pay people when they win a slot jackpot. The part YOU know about is: You get paid. There's all kinds of behind the scenes stuff that goes on; check the Restricted Patron List (RPL) for people who have been banned or self-banned from gaming (cheats, people repeatedly evicted for misbehavior, people who no longer wish to be allowed to gamble, among other reasons
  20. That's how they should ALWAYS do the news: Why are gas prices so high? Because the price went up. Because the price went up? Well yes, if the price went down then the price wouldn't be high, would it?

That does look good. The rear spoiler looks a bit out-sized, but I guess it's right for the car's purpose. The white also looks good, and tempting, but keep the green! It's more "interesting."
  22. Good stuff, I wouldn't mind having some of those myself. Just the radio, nothin' in the CD racks really caught my fancy today. They're dedicating the day to the year 1969, a lot of great music there! Right now, Steppenwolf.
  23. DON'T EVEN GO THERE! First, I realize how whiney I can sound. I have "a" job, I'm paid well, and I hardly do any work! What's to complain about, right? I already have direct deposit, in fact, that was one of those new rules a short time ago: Every employee must have their paycheck direct deposited. Too bad for you if you don't have or want a bank account, huh? GET ONE. (That one must rankle the many immigrants who work there.) The rule was in preparation for the employee cashier's window being closed a couple weeks later. I could get the pay stub mailed, though they never bo
