Thanks for the insight How will I learn that way? I do not have a broken laptop, I am just curious. edit added// If I wanted to pay someone $70 to look at a laptop and learn nothing, I would then follow your advice. This is a friendly forum, so I just asked a friendy question. I am just "making conversation"; I am just curious what the other members of this forum think. Must have carried over from a G4 comment

I was fixing to copy some files from one hard disk to another while running a boot disc and I quickformatted a computer. What is a bootable floppy program that can recover the files?

Will that give the same appearance as the back lite going out? Hmm, on regular LCD's when the back light goes out every now and then it can flicker. However, when the inverter is out I know that the screen is totally blank. Other than that I don't know

The majority I've seen are in the base

Capacitors don't stop engine noise - they soften the power drain coming from the battery. I got it hooked up - I just grounded it to the chasis where the amp is grounded . accually thqat is incorrect. a 3uf cap can filter the alternator noise as long as you couple it with a coil. they make filters that have the coil and cap for filtering out the alternator noise. now if you are getting ignition noise, from the plugs firing, that would mean the plug wires are leaking. capictors do many things in electronics. they filter, store energy, then can create a voltage drop, they can clean up ac out

Underclocking/undervolting Thoroughbred

I don't really think it's an excuse to be rude. I'm sure that if you're looking to fix something/try something new many people google the heck out of it and try to figure it out by themselves. I'm being rude because it's ludicrous to mess with CPU settings when you don't know exactly what you're messing with. I can understand you're interest in cooling down the PC, but the 1st thing you need to do is just clean the thing out. It would be the equivalent of me messing with my car engine (which I have no clue about) because my air filters are dirty. -

Hmm, too lazy to spray out dust - but stupid enough to mess with the Bios when not having too much of a clue .... ? -
Nope, I'm just always thinking ahead since I'm ussually a recipient (my brother is in college right now and a bunch of drunk girls always call me in the early hours of the morning) And as far as disabling it, that's why I mentioned putting it on a timer so that it wouldn't let you call until sober - I mean morning

I've seen bad NIC cards, modems, and motherboards cause long shut down times

The ap would prevent you from calling certain numbers. Thus allowing drunk dials to friends, but not to a home number or boss

It's fun doing that to friends! "Hi, this is Mike from the National Consumer Survey Board with a brief survey..." That's where you get really creative

What is the price difference betweem the 3800 and the 4200? I've read that the 3800 is pretty overclockable to the 4200 speed without going stupid on it. IMO, I wouldn't pay extra unless you were going to the Toledo core (the 4400+ which is about $100 more) Guy I work with overclocked the 4400+ ton speeds as high as the most expensive X2 CPU I always hate the game, add $20 bucks get a little faster, or just add $100 - it never ends

Dual core is great for decoding DVD's while you browse the internet and download music. When you're not playing games, you're usually doing more than one thing. I'm pretty sure that BF2 works off both of my cores (based on the Task Manager charts)

Too bad skype in isn't free The best part is I can call people and prank them since it doesn't give an actual number in caller ID!

Had a thought (wow, already starting this off right!) I know it's possible to write Java applets on most new cell phones (mine supports it for sure) and I had the thought of making a program that could restrict the numbers you were able to call. More specifically, you could set up that from 9pm to 11am you could not call certain numbers such as home, work, girlfriend (anybody catch my drift yet?) in the event one was drinking. So, my question, what's the potential for an anti-drunk dialing program?

People always say how X2's suck at gaming - yet my X2 3800 (socket 939 btw) is perfectly fine on BF2 or COD. I highly recommend you go with 2x1GB memory (OCZ is great, I've seen the platinum 2gb pc3200 at $140 after rebate which is fantastic) Personally, I think SLI is a bust, you're better off just investing in a good card (maybe one of those new 7900's if you have the $ ) Overall - go socket 939 because it will be out for a while, PCI Express (a no brainer) 2GB dual channel RAM. Also, go with SATA Raid 0. I really wish I would have done that on my PC since I built a few at work and th

That's the size I was looking for!

Looking to build a project - I have a socket 370 PIII 933 and I'm looking for very small sized motherboard. I know about normal ATX and microATX, but is there anything smaller than microATX that is still affordable? Worst case scenario - I can switch up to Socket A if there isn't anything for 370 Oh yeah - I forgot to add, I'm most likely going to build the case

Definitly didn't rip him off since I get paid a flat rate, not on commision or anything
