  1. The only problem that I see with this, is that if M$ uses WGA, it could be problematic for things that are available as seprate downloads. By all means, make Windows Activation a requirement, but from what I read, WGA can cause problems if the user gets a new machine, and cant authenticate, because the servers are down or messing up - think I heard that there were lots of users who now have "ungenuine windows" OS's because of the glitch. I believe M$ fixed these glitches, but they are a pain to deal with ;( Brian 20% false positives. M$, take your wga and ___________________. Just my 2 cents
  2. Very Interesting - My parents have been very generous, and I help them as much as I can. Emmanuel is Named for my Late Grandfather (My Mom's father) who I consider to be a very hard working loyal, curteous, loving man, who gave of himself to help others, and loved all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly, and instilled in me the fact that I can do anything I set my mind to, and he did NOT treat me any different then any of the other grandchildren, and he said that my disability makes me special, and that I had to work harder to get to my goals in life, but I would get
  3. Liz: No, I can't beat this Mom has really gone the extra mile for me - I was NOT expecting an upgrade of a macine this year, and I have upgraded OS's on Emmanuel as well as to get this new machine - I was shocked when I got the call on friday Oddessy will serve my needs well. I do not belive that there will ever be a day when Oddessy will have to complain about disk space, as she has 160GIGS of total space with her speed, color, and OS, as well as her HP Pavillion F1703 Flat Panel 17" Monitor, I am sure that I will have fun with this one Defiant was disconnected from the wall and moved
  4. I ended up getting woken up at 6AM EDT this morning, so I have been working since about 7am on migration of files. Moved my mail from Emmanuel to Oddesy, and am in the process of setting up the remaining email accounts over here. I also installed Networking Capability on Both machines, and I have shared folders and mapped drives so that I can work from Oddessy or Emmanuel. Since both have XP Pro, it was really easy. I have also networked my HP Photosmart 1315 (I named him JOHN, after my Dad's father, who is my Grandfather), and can access him from the bedroom or livingroom. This is the ne
  5. Marty: I was the first in the family to own, use and maintain computers in my house. Mom did not know much about them when she first started, and in fact, told me that she did not even want to know how to turn one on - and I respected her decisions and wishes on this point. Then one day, she changed her mind, and I helped her take care of any questions she had, and she bought her first machine in like 1994 - I gave my mom my first IBM (Epson Equity Ie 8086 machine) computer, soon after I upgraded for the first time, and since then, she has upgraded every few years. I am very fortunate that

  10. Hello all: Just figured that I would add a little reg fix to place the menubar in IE 7 at the top, rather then the middle, where it is by default. To do this, open your Notepad, and copy the following Exactly as shown. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\WebBrowser] "ITBar7Position"=dword:00000001 Save this file as toolbar.reg, as type "all files" and save to a convenient location, such as the Desktop. Then Click on the Toolbar.reg file and allow it to import the fix to your registry. This will now place the menu bar on t
  11. Liz: I have a new machine, that has IE7 on board, and I THINK I will like it a little better, because I can now use tabs: Oddessy, being the new machine, with faster processor and more memory will have 7, and Emmanuel will have 6. I also need 6 to access a couple sites Brian
  12. Falcon1986: Does this mean that WGA will be eventually a piece of history for All Windows Products? I would think that with all the problems I have heard about with WGA, that they may decide to abandon it altogether for all Windows OS's that currently use it? Wondering...... Brian
  13. Hello Everyone!! I have some really exciting news to share with my BT family. Friday afternoon, I got a call from my mom, who was looking for a new PC - She was looking at a couple machines, one being a laptop, and 2 desktop machines - I talked her out of the laptop, because my mom has never used a laptop, and she would not like the way it feels. she got a an HP dual quad Intel VIV Q6600, and this thing has 3 GIG of memory, expandable to 8GB, and a 640GB HDD, and she runs Vista Home Premium -which mom is learning now So, spent yesterday helping mom with file transfers and answering questions

  15. My question is: Why is M$ now gonna force people to download IE7? There are still some sites where IE6 is the only way that you can view them, and the main reason I have not upgraded to IE7, is because there are some sites I visit that don't support IE7 as of yet, and they state that when you enter - strange that some sites don't like IE7 - would have upgraded if it were not for those sites...... 17. I feel sorry for Torre too. He is one of the classiest skippers that I've ever seen. On the other hand, I'm also sorry about blowing the possibility of a title every year since 2000. Might be a time for a change. The buzz already is Tony La Russa. But I have a feeling that Sweet Lou Pinella is also going to be looking for a job soon. THAT would be interesting if King George hired him. Or as Yogi Berra said: "It would be like deja vu all over again". "King George" needs to concentrate on what he REALLY needs - Why the Yankees spend 212 MILLION, and cannot win a title in 7 years tells me th

  24. Here is another update: I apparently have been having problems with Panda Internet Security 07 - It contantly says that my protection level is "LOW" and it insists on blocking access to the internet with an "content filter" which I need to give a password to access when I want to reboot the system. This was OK until I tried to send email with Outlook 2003 - It would not allow me to connect to the mail server, and I believe that it had something to Internet Security 07. I downgraded to Panda Platinum 7, and will stay there until I can figure out what in the devil is going on here Other than
