  1. I just figured that I would share some GOOD news with my BT "family" On March 30, 2006, I handed in my Apartment keys and moved to the north end of the city, in preparation for The Barre (VT) Housing Authority to convert 4 units of "shared housing" into 2 fully Wheelchair accessible units. This project broke ground on October 2, 2006, and has been ongoing ever since then. On March 13, 2007, I was informed by BHA that my move out date had been scheduuled for Friday, March 23, 2007 at 9AM. Preliminary indications are that the unit is almost ready, and today I was able to obtain my signed leas
  2. hehehehe - I'd hope that I would not anger my wife enough where she would get a GUN and do that hehehehehe Brian
  3. If you ever want to send an email to a list of people without EVERYONE in the world seeing who you send it to, consider making a "undisclosed recipients" list - The link below shows you how, and works on any system. Cyberwalker - This is a good tutorial for this Basically, you create a contact for "Undisclosed recipient" in your email contacts, and for the address you place YOUR address there. Then you save the contact and select the Undisclosed recipients contact from your contact list. Next, enable the abilility to see your Blind Carbon Copy (BCC) field. Finally, place all your addresses sep
  4. Liz: The only people who are "poor" are those who believe it, or those who do not have a loving family to take care of them - Love and family are VERY important to this Vermonter - and so are the farmers who bust tail to make sure that when I go to the store that I can get the milk I need BLESS Sen. Leahy and Sen. Sanders Brian
  5. I don't know if I can top anyone's story, but let me tell you, life is a challenge. I have Cerebral Palsy, and I can tell you that if ANYONE thinks life is simple for people that have it, it is NOT - It is a challenge everyday. I sometimes use my wheelchair, and have used it in school, and some of the guys think its a "fun thing" to be in a wheelchair, because you can ride around all day and get pushed all over the place, and can GO FAST - man - these guys don't know the half of it! I was born in the 70's, the decade when they really didn't know much about disabilities, law, etc, and the way
  6. Cool - a script is exactly what I need - I need to know how to build it though the command I use is as follows (assumes home directory /home/bsbaker/ tar -cvf KUS-home-xx-xx-xx.tar * (Tells system to do ALL files, however, I am missing the Dotfiles [xx-xx-xx is date of file] I want to also grab the dotfiles and have this script email me when it is completed then I do the same for the public_html directory and the public_html/secure/dke directory, because I am IN thm whn I tar up the files - aft that, I download all of these I use tcsh as default shell as well, but think I could use bash fo
  7. This is what I wanted. I have a home directory tar file that with everything I have its 64 MEG. I have a web directory public_html that is about 40 MEG and a secure directory that is about 5 megs. I work for D&K Enterpises, and the secure/dke directory is his website that I am running as a test on my linux host. I have to back this up as well. Rather then to take the whole 64 megs every time, I want to break it down so that /home/bsbaker is ONE file, /home/bsbaker/public_html/ is ANOTHER file, and /home/bsbaker/public_html/secure is a third file. if necessary I will add /home/bsbaker/

    Tax Returns

Refund?? Whats THAT?? I don't file taxes because of SSI - I have not had a refund since early 2000-2001. Last time I had a refund, I bought a new TV and this is while I was working and could afford to spend $353.00 on my TV Brian
  9. Good One Marty :> hehhehehe Brian
  10. I have a quick question: I have a linux host where I want to archive files with TAR - what I want to do is: 1. Take ALL files in /home/bsbaker (including the dotfiles) and tar them up and give the file a name like KUS-home-xx-xx-xx.tar (with xx-xx-xx being the date of the backup file) 2. Take ALL files in /home/bsbaker/public_html/ (including the dotfiles) tar them up and give the file a name like KUS-web-xx-xx-xx.tar (with xx-xx-xx being the date of the backup file) 3. Take ALL files in /home/bsbaker/public_html/secure/ (including the dotfiles) tar them up and give the file a name like KUS

  14. It is my professional opinion that most anything is better then Norton AV!! I have been dealing with Norton Products since early 1998, and I don't really like them - The reason for this viewpoint is that older versions of Norton would integrate themselves into your filesystems, making it harder to uninstall them. Then the only way to completely eliminate them would be to format your hard drive and lose important data. Newer versions of the software may not do this, but Norton is on my "NO WAY List" as far as a recommendation I would make to a user. If a user really wants me to install Nor
  15. Thank you for this information - will be helpful as I continue to work with linux Brian
  16. Liz: If I look at threads with Youtube vids in them from D&K (server Machine) I don't see the pics either. I would have to use Emmanuel for that: what happens is that I would need some programs to see them that I don't want to install on the machine we use as a web server - I believe you need shockwave flash or something similar - which is not available from the server machine - but from emmanuel I can see all youtube vids Brian
  17. Liz: That WAS HILARIOUS!!! hehehehe Thanks for the laugh Hon!! Brian
  18. Jdoors: How RIGHT you are - people are so gullable these days that they would do anything to make a buck or to win something. The article says that they will give a people that entered this contest a chance to win the value of this coin, which is $10,000 - Manino says that they will not prosecute these people if they inform City Hall of there intentions first I am all for marketing and ad campaigns, but believe that they should not be set up as to cause a panic in a major city!!
  19. Found the link below regarding this story: I cannot believe that a company would BURY a gold coin somewhere in a historic cemetary. LINK I can understand promotions where people can win things like Money, IPODS, computers, vehicles, and the like, but to bury a coin in a historic site, and then have treasure hunters try to find it by possibly disturbing a historic site is rediculous. Luckily, the company that makes Dr. Pepper agreed to run a drawing for the money rather then to have a historical landmark ravaged. My question: what the heck is wrong with these marketing executives? Can't t
  20. AWESOME Jeff - You are doing really well with that site Brian
  21. I love being an uncle - it gives me the chance to do just that (although I won't let them get away with doing something they are not supposed to do if thier parents said NO already) - My uncles used to spoil me, and I had a blast - I havenot seen my nephews for the longest time, but I would do something for them if I was asked If I ever marry, I think it would be cool to have my nieces and nephews have my wife be an auntie - but Uncle Brian is single and will remain that way till he finds the right one Brian
  22. Liz: YOU SAID IT!!! I love kids, and seeing this makes me glad that I am an uncle many times over - I sometimes wish I could see my nieces and nephews more, but times somtimes are hard to nail down sometimes - people say I would be a good dad, but being an uncle will increase my patience *grin* Kids: our future, our students :> Brian
  23. I want to thank all of you for your well wishes: It will go a long way to helping me to get through the training, and I really wanna do this, so that I can be a member of a crack team of individuals that will help to clear this junk out - Here we go Brian
