    Irc Bot

WyldRyde is a good place to hang out, and I agree with Jeff on this one - the staff are very knowledgeable, and friendly and I have had a great time while there. I usually hang on #besttechie and #geekstogo and other channels, as baker7 I have about 13 years experience as an Operator myself on my home server at Tallahaseee Freenet - We also didn't allow filesharing or illegal activities and I know that we used to ban people for this offense. Since TFN irc went down, I have been using forums alot more, but recently, we have been bringing TFN back up after a server move. I have the highest

    Irc Bot

What IRC Network are you going to use? Bot usage is allowed on some networks, and not on others. If bots are allowed they may tell you what bots that they will allow. It has been my experience that you should run the bot from your linux box, and when I was an operator, the admin ran it out of an account in our irc group. He called the account 'assist1' and had it's shell set for csh. That way the bot's config files were running on our server, but were available in its own user account. Brian

  15. My understanding is that the best way to protect your machine in modern times would include the installation of a good router, but it also involves interaction from the USER as well. A router is as good as the person who set it up to protect your network or PC. It is my belief that regardless of how careful you are about protecting your PC's, things can get by the best security senerio, and PC's can be infected with anything - sometimes without user knowledge. A router, while being a good firewall isn't necessarily a good firewall without being properly configured. A Good Firewall setup thi
  16. Good Morning: We have a Winter Storm Warning through 10 AM EST Tomorrow Morning. The weather report last night said that we were in for rain and then it was supposed to freeze and we are suppoesed to then get 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch of ICE, followed by 6-12 Inches of snow, and the weekend is supposed to be snowy and cold. Needless to say, I am GLAD I got food yesterday, and I am staying right the heck where I am Brian
  17. Bearskin: Yes, I do use Superantispyware. It is basically used to remove adware/spyware/malware and other hijacks. I usually use it in tandam with Spybot Search and Destroy and Adaware. It has also been used by me as a spyware/malware scanner on my machines. I am also in training as a malware removal trainee: I have used this program during practice log situations. It is quite useful if you have a scanner that does not pick up specific malware infections. I basically use SAS as an "On-Demand" scanner: This means that you use it as needed to remove the nasties. I think SAS is a pretty
  18. Mark: I agree with that statement!! It was because of people like Mlegg and PeteC that I became interested in malware removal, and I have watched them do this for a few years before I took the plunge into it in 2007 - G4 Tech support is cool, because of the people that make it that way. Without them, it would not be as cool That being said, I must agree that there are issues with the software and the forums, and the people who do that job are doing what they can. I can say with certainty that after the announcement waaaaay back a long time ago that tech support may be leaving, that I foun
  19. Just a Note to say that I reformatted my computer a little before Christmas, and this issue appears to be solved - there was a lot of programs on here that may have been part of the problem, but decided to start fresh and reinstall over the holidays. New HP PSC 2410 Printer needed to be installed, so I bit the bullet and reformatted. Thanks for the help Brian
  20. ... dog................ A pet of ours. She passed away a little over a year ago shortly after Sadie, another of our pet dogs passed away. Down to one dog (many cats): Pooper dog (or Maddie) canine tooth - They are used to chew and grind up food for digestion Brian
  21. Jeff: It is Duly noted that it does cost alot to keep this site going, and I know that you will do your very best to make the ads the least intrusive that you can I am not bothered at all with the ads in a post box (as they are now) - I simply object with having to use blocking software to block Blinking, moving or other types of flash advertising, as it takes away from the purpose of a site running it. G4 was famous for running rediculous ads that required me to block domains simply so I could navigate thier sites. I don't mind ads - as long as they don't jump all over my screen - the way
  22. I hate to say this about G4 - but I have not posted there for a LONG while - Jeff is RIGHT!!! - Besttechie is now the place I call HOME Almost, if not all of my friends are here, and this is a family G4 seems to not know what the heck they wanna do - Besttechie and his staff are here, and they do a great job, and I will be proud to assist as many users as I can It is a no-brainer!! and I am proud to be a member here Keep up the GREAT work Team Brian
  23. Jeff: Is there a way to remove the Googlebot ads that occur when you are logged in as yourself on BT? I know that they were added to bosts for GUESTS, but they are showing for me now when I am logged in. Perhaps I have to clear the cache?? Brian
